am i ready for treatment effects?

does anybody really know how bad those treatment effects will be if you follow the plan religiously? i work at a local amusement park, usually 13 or 14 hours a day, and the last thing i need is treatment effects to happen on a hot summer day. should i take ammodium along with it? wear a pad? not eat any fat period? anybody got a plan of action????

one of the books suggested wearing a pad..... but maybe taking the pill the first time on a day off to see what happens.

I don't think we will get the side effects if we follow directions on the product guide. 15% is the first phase of fat intake PER MEAL. With each 15% fat meal you take the alli. They suggest taking the diet 3 days prior to using the pill.  I bought yesterday, diet start today, pill start on Monday. If we cheat we get the alli-opps. So it works to keep us on line.

    good Luck Everyone

I agree with the other posters.  Watch what you eat and wear a pad the first few days just in case.  I don't know if Imodium will work, but it's worth a shot if need be.

Another suggestion I read is to bring a change of clothes to work.  I'm a college administrator and I know that I don't want to experience any "accidents" while addressing a room filled with college students and their parents!  My plan of action ... even though I'm allowed 16 g of fat - I'm lowering it to 10-12 grams!

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

Eating a meal that contains no more than 15 grams of fat should minimize the treatment effects. Imodium, an over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medication, would not be helpful in managing the treatment effects. There are lots of great suggestions in the product information on preparing for treatment effects in case you might experience them.

    Good luck and good health!

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

I am ready to start losing the stubborn pounds I just can't seem to take off.  I eat well now, for almost a year, and work out regularly but am stuck. I think that the fear of effects from treatment with Alli will keep me on track with my diet, as well absorbing fat. If I get side effects, it would most likely be due to eating too much fat at a meal. By committing to take the pill before every meal it would be a very good way to insure I don’t give into an extra serving, or fatty desert. Swallowing one pill takes only a split second of willpower, and getting side effects would be a very good deterrent when willpower is low. I am hoping however that what I have read about treatment effects will hold true for me, and I would only have problems if too much fat is consumed. I am hoping that if I stay low in fat grams I will avoid any unpleasant side effects.

Good luck to all you fellow soon to be slimmers!

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

I know this is a few days late on your post but I started yesterday and just tried to keep fat intake down.  We pretty much cook lowfat in our house but my husband and I were at a concert with no dinner in site.  We ate in the VIP tent.....taco chips and guacamole.  I also ate salsa.  Basically had no problem with the pill.  I think if you are careful with what you eat and just don't go over the allowable fat per meal, you will be fine.  I'm also lowering the fat allowed in my daily plan from 19 per meal down to 12 to 15 per meal.  That should cover it I think.

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

I used Xenecal years ago, which is very much like Alli, and yes, if you eat fat in excess, you'll have a hard time.  No one told me at that time that I could control the reaction - just cut the fat intake!  There were reactions, so I strongly suggest wearing a pad...just in case.

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

My guess is everyone's "treatment effects," if any, will differ, even if we all at 15g of fat, no more no less, at all 3 meals.  Everyone's body is different.  And, no, if you eat NO fat, this program is not for you according to what I've read.

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

    Hey Pittsburgh,

I've been on the plan since Thursday morning and I did have a treatment effect this morning because I was NAUGHTY at the movie theatre last night.  Shame on me!  I ate some bagel bites with cheese and then those were pretty disgusting so I went and bought a small popcorn WITH BUTTER!  I should have known better.

I didn't experience anything until this morning and I spent about30 min in the bathroom (good thing I wasn't at work!).  Other than that, I've stayed on plan and have had no problems at all.  If you get off plan, be prepared to have the runs for sure!

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

This is what concerns me about this pill...that people will take it and think they can eat whatever they want (i.e., at the movies, etc.) and still expect it to help them lose weight!  It's so ridiculous!  We're either going to change our lifestyle eating or we're not!

Re: am i ready for treatment effects?

This is what concerns me about this pill...that we will take it and continue our previous lifestyle eating (i.e., at the movies, etc.) and not really change the way we view and use food!  If we're going to do this right, let's follow the guidelines!
