Re: Any one up for a work out challenge?

    How did everyone do yesterday???

My favorite elliptical was in use :( so I opted for the stair-climber... I only went to 500 calories because my phone (and thus my music) died and I'm sorry but its just too hard to climb those stairs without a beat!! I did do extra weights though, and I increased the lbs by one notch on each machine. Then I did my floor moves (scissor lifts, leg lifts, crunches, etc) and my stretching. I felt great!!!! Tomorrow is my check-in.... I'm trying not to be too hopeful concerning the scale... especially since all this weight-lifting is surely replacing my fat with heavier muscle.... but last week I took measurements as well as weight so I am anxious to see if I have lost any inches this week :)

I'm goin to the gym as soon as I get home tonight......

    Keep it up ladies!!

Re: Any one up for a work out challenge?

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you lost your music - I understand the need to be thinking of something else while working out.  Friday was my day off, so I didn't do any recordable workouts.  Saturday morning I had my kids up and moving before 7 AM to get ready for our 7 mile walk/jog.  Our time was not as good as I wanted.  I had hoped we would cut a few minutes off of our previous time, but we did not.  But it was only the second time for the full 7 miles and our first time from home.

This afternoon I will start a new strength training routine.  It is one I used years ago and enjoyed.  I just never stuck to it long enough to see results on the scale.  Now that the scale is slowly moving, I feel better motivated about exercising.  I can see the results, and so can my family.  Yesterday was the end of three full weeks for me and I was at a weight loss of 7.6 pounds.  I am thrilled with that.  I would like to see 10 pounds at the end of the 30 day supply.  I am confident I will be close enough that I have started to price the refill kits in my area.

    Good Luck to everyone!

Re: Any one up for a work out challenge?

I used to do tae bo when I was about the same age too.  It toned me so quickly!  I couldn't believe it.  I went to college and studied interior design/architecture and everything went to pot.  I had to work full time and I attended school full time.  My hours were so wacky.  Some nights I couldn't go to bed in order to meet a dead line.  Then some night I would go to bed at 4 or 5 am.  My eating patterns were never the same and it always seemed like I was in a hurry...and I was.  Four years of that takes a toll on your body.  I am 26 and it is sad to see what I have become to look like.  I was the girl who played basketball, softball, track and cross country.  I was in shape and was the healthiest at 185 for my body type despite what some people would tell me (doctors that is).

What I was getting to, I have been going to the gym and doing the elliptical for 30 mins and then weight training for about 45 mins.  But I got back on doing tae bo this afternoon and I sweated way more than what I have been doing.  Having been an athlete, I feel the best when I sweat lots.  I am going to incorporate the tae bo in with the gym to give some change.  Maybe my results will pick back up.  Try to pick tae bo back up.  If it worked then, then why won't it work now?

Re: Any one up for a work out challenge?

    Just wanted to share.....

I did the tredmill today for 50 minutes. Burned 840 calories!

Start at incline 5 at pace of 3.0 do this for 5 minutes, then in incriments of 2 minutes raise the incline by 5.....all the way to 25 then go down....by five every 2 minutes, once you get back to incline 5 speed up to 3.5 do this for 5 minutes, then go back up like before, then back down, then back up then back down! :)

I was SOOO sweaty, my forearms were DRIPPING onto the ground! YAY!
