If I know I will eat more than 15 g of fat, can I skip that pill?

If I know that at an upcoming event, it will be impossible to consume less than 15 g of fat, can I skip the pill to avoid adverse effects?

No, the pill stays with you up to 24 or so hours. So, you will still have the TE's. Kay G

Yup, skip it but just make sure it doesn't turn into a habit :)

I thought about doing that today but decided it was just giving myself a license to "cheat" without any consequences, and I don't want to do that so I took the pill anyway. If I have TE's this evening or tomorrow maybe I won't look at staying within the fat grams as being so impossible next time.

I read quite a few posts about people skipping their pill if they have a higher fat meal, and I just look at it as defeated the whole purpose of this plan.

I thought that the pill stayed with you for 2 hours after you take it but if you consume too much fat during the meal you took the pill with that it could take up to 48 hours to see TEs...I went to a 4th party and knew I would consume more than my allowance so I didn't take my pill.and I was fine.

     Can someone please confirm???

    Hi Jansgirl,

If you do not take all with your meal you will not have any risk of treatment effects. Alli only works on the meal that you take it with so if you don't take it, there won't be any effects.

    Good luck,

Thanks for asking this question!  My son is getting married in a few months and while I don't plan on stuffing myself, I want to enjoy the food without owrrying about TE.  (How horrible would that be?!)  Plus, it will not be like eating out where I can order my own food.  I'll have no idea the fat/calorie content but I bet it will be rich.

I went to the church anniversary picnic on the first and I thought I had my pills with me but I didn't so I couldn't take it.  I ate 2 pieces of ribs, about a tablespoon of potato salad, macaroni and cheese and a little bit of desert.  I thought sure I was going to have a blowout because I knew the pill from breakfast was still in my system but I was fine.  I would say, if you know your meal is going to be wayyyy over the top, skip the pill.  You may or may not have TE because there will still be some Alli in your system.

Thanks for asking this question.  Today is my birthday and I am planning on going out and having a nice dinner and didn't want to think about any TE.
