Third weigh in "down total of 5 lbs."  Slow but steady, that's okay with me. I never stay on a diet before because I couldn't lose anything. Now I am. Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Deb (mydayishere)

Sounds like you're doing ok considering what happened to you.

I'm having a tough week this week. Going through menopause & trying to lose weight is tough. Sometimes I just get so hungry. Having parties all weekend didn't help either. For some reason my family likes August births and there are alot of people with parties this month (10) and then me on Sept 7.

We're going to Vermont this weekend to see my husbands brother and his wife is a chef. I'm starting to feel like I'm slipping into that "oh well I'll just stay overweight" syndrome. I've got to stay commited.

Take care Deb & keep me posted.

Hi Linda,  Getting better everyday, back to the doctor again tomorrow

I agree that going thru menopause and losing weight are not best friends.  To many hormones going nuts on us,    I understand how easy it is to slip up and eat the wrong things, especially when there are parties/camping.  Hope you sil (sister in law) cooks low fat while you are there.   Have you told here you are doing alli?  The good thing is that we have not gained back any of the weight we  have lost on alli,  Hang in there, we're not perfect and we have wonderful families that love us for who we are.  But darn it we want it all....................

    Take care, Deb

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

Would you please tell me how Alli works with Nutri System?  Are they compatable?  I too have been on Nutri System.  I just bought the pills today, but I'm a bit scared to start them until I find out about taking them while on Nutri System.

    Thanks

    Mary

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

51 with six kids, four grandkids, husband, two cats, two horses, money pit of an old house, and a great job. Started at 215 on July 4th now at 201 but haven't had the guts to take one of the pills. I just keep them on my desk to scare me into staying on the eating plan. Like between menopause and a bladder stretched to heck and back by those six kids, I need another reason to have to run to the bathroom! Well this weekend I am going to try one and see what happens.

It has actually been pretty easy to go with the healthy eating so far. My mother passed away in May, and after 6 years of taking care of her, the decrease in stress in my life has allowed me to focus on taking care of me.

Oh well wrinkles and all lets see what I can do!

    Hi bonzz

Don't worry about taking the pills. As long as you commit to staying low cal & especially low fat you'll do fine. They really do work.

    Good Luck

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

My arm is feeling better everday.  I am in therapy now and that helps a lot.  How are ou doing with the alli?  Its hit and miss with me.  Not many people posting anymore.  I guess the real way to lose weight is just eat less and move more, that seems to work everytime.

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

I was going pretty slowly but seem to have stepped it up a little. I finally reached 11lbs this morning. I'm going to stick with it though because I feel like I've tried everything else. You're right about the eating less & moving more. The moving more is the hard part for me. I had knee surgery last year and it's been such a slow recovery. I still have trouble going up & down the stairs. keep up with the therapy. It does help.

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

Hi I'm from Washington state, and I need to lose at least 45 to 50 pounds.

I'm 53, married and have two grown daughters and two grandkids.

I'm only 4' 11" and I weight 164 now after about a month and a half of Alli.  I started out at 170.  I know that sound good to some one else but at my height , its a lot.

This week I didnt take any, I was so busy run here and there , I was afraid to take it.  Dont like the side effects!!

My husband is a picky eatter so its hard to eat well, he hate veg, no tomatoes, no onions.

Any way good luck with Alli,   I'm going to try harder this next week.  BEV

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

Hi Linda,  11lbs is great, I have only lost 6, but thats OK as long as it doesn't come back.  Knee surger would slow you down a lot, and the over 50 part makes recovery a little slower.  I am finding that out now.  Went to Reno last  weekend, it was my first trip since breaking my arm.  Had a lot of fun, but the bed just wasn't comfortable.  No place like home..............

Have a good Labor Day weekend

Re: 50+years old and 50+lbs to lose

Hi, Fellow Texan.  I am 52 (53 next month), 5'3" and currently 193. I have been taking alli for 2 weeks and have lost 7 lbs.  I know things will slow down because you always lose alot when you 1st start eating healthy. Knowing the possibility of treatment effects certainly keeps me on track. I've only had minor ones - cramps & gas. Good for you with your exercising.  I just can't get myself motivated and get started.  Hopefully, that will change soon as little more weight comes off.

I have one son, 17, and we're gearing up for his senior year in high school. (yes, I started late - I was 35 when he was born)

Hope everyone has a GREAT week!

    Ann
