Don't be discouraged. Even if you aren't seeing it on the scale, if you are eating less calories than you are losing, your body is working behind the scenes on that extra weight and your weight WILL drop on the scales; it just may not show up when you think it should.
When I was much younger I once went on a diet where I ate very little - I mean practically NOTHING and I expected to see a drop every single day and I would go 3, 4, 5, 6 days sometimes before seeing a drop and sometimes I would even see a gain when I knew what I had eaten could NOT have caused a gain because I hadn't eaten anything!
I know people will say that's because my body was in "starvation mode." I don't deny there is such a thing as starvation mode but the simple fact is, if you are eating less than you ar burning, you are going to lose weight even if you are in "starvation mode." When people fast, they lose weight; their body doesn't hang onto the weight. They also always say if you are exercising you are building muscle and they attribute weight gain to that. I don't buy that, either, because while there may be a slight difference with muscle building, it isn't going to be a 5 pound weight gain in a few weeks.
I WAS successful in losing weight when I didn't eat much but even with eating very little, it came off more slowly than I expected. I am not going to go on that drastic a diet now, and I know it will take time to lose the weight, and probably more time than it did when I ate practically nothing. I am learning to eat more healthy foods, something I've never done in the past. In the past I have eaten whatever I wanted, which amounts to lots of carbs and lots of high fat foods, and only paid attention to the calories. As long as I kept the calorie count low, I didn't care how fattening the food was or how many carbs. I didn't eat fruits and vegetables much. I am changing that all now, and I expect my body to be in shock for a while and have to adjust to the changes.
I'm okay with it taking some time to lose the weight and this is why: I was at a park one day at a birthday party for a child. While there I saw a woman running in the park. She was thin, a normal weight, but her legs looked awful!!! They were all pitted with cellulite that I could see even from a distance as she ran. The only explanation for that that made sense to me was that she had lost weight quickly and maybe didn't exercise while losing weight. I may be wrong about that but that picture always sticks in my mind when I think of trying to lose weight quickly. I do NOT want to end up thin but with cellulite.
