Short and overweight club.  Now, this is the club for me.  Have you guys ever measured yourself. This is funny.  My mom alwasy told me I was 5'4.  So I alwasy said "I'm 5'4."  Since starting this program I decided to measure myself.  I am actually only 5'3.  I guess I never knew how short I actually was. LOL.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I do Know what you mean!  All my life I thought I was 5'1", and then, as age has taken its toll on my back, I found out that I am only 5' tall.  Now that's really not fair!  Even my daughters are taller than me by quite a bit.  I have a few complaints that I'm going to take with me to question St. Peter at the Gate.  One is why in the world the good Lord thought we had to have mosquitoes in this world, and the second one is "why didn't I get to be 5'8" or so.  At this height, all I can eat is low fat birdseed!

How's your progress?  Regarding sweet tooths, I try NOT to eat any concentrated sweets because they lead me to cravings and binges, neither of which is good for me.  :)  Tampabayb    Day 116, twenty-seven pounds gone.....

Sweets are hard to get rid of. I made myself get rid of all the fatty sweets in my life. Splenda was mentioned in another thread, if you like to bake use Splenda! Also I tried diet coke with splenda and it tasted better than normal diet coke.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

If you get to St. Peter before me, let me know what he says.  I alwasy said I was vertically challenged or if I was tall I wouldn't be fat.  I've alwasy wondered what the purposeo f mosquitoes were for anyway.  I guess for the makers of OFF to make some money.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I'm 5'2" and 175 lbs, so I too am part of the short and overweight club. My goal is to get to 140 by the end of the year.

As for your sweet tooth, try eating fat free pudding with a dollop of whipped cream. I eat it a lot because I love chocolate and I do crave sweets. It seems to hit the spot for me. I also like to eat sugar free pudding pops, they help take the edge of those sugar cravings as well.

Last but not least, try sugar free candies. They're not fat free so you have to watch your intake but they do taste just like the regular candies you'd buy. I hope this helps.

Good tips!  I like the sugar-free popsicles, you can get a whole box of just banana ones if you want.  :)  Tampabayb

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

It is so great to find so many people in my height range, I'm 5' 1/2" (have to put that 1/2" in there)! Over my 62 years I have lost and gained enough weight to build my own community, but at my age, it is getting more difficult to lose.

My doctor suggested Alli and at first I was opposed to it. I have adverse reaction to diet pills. When he explained that Alli is not a diet pill and wouldn't affect my medications in the slightest, I decided to do some research. After reading reviews on Alli and reading the information on the Alli site, I bought the starter kit.

I started dieting on the 9th and started the Alli capsules on the 16th. today is my weighin and I have lost 6 pounds! There is a long way to go, but what a start! What was amazing is that I didn't have to alter a lot of my eating habits. I still have to get started on the exercise. Just getting over strained back muscles.
