    Short and Overweight Club

Anyone out there short and overweight and want to talk?  I'm 5'2" and 170 lbs. I'm actually considered obese according to my height and weight, but I have more muscle than fat.  I'm going to try to do weight watchers and alli together.  I lost a lot of weight on WW so maybe it will be a good combo.  How are you doing?  Any  advice for someone with the sweet tooth?

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

Hello! I am similar - also 5'2 and I weigh 165. I am also considered "obese" - quite a sobering thought, actually, as I never considered myself that. Fat or chubby, yes, but obese - yikes! I started alli on 7/6 so I don't have any updates as of yet, but so far so good - no TE's at least! I have a sweet tooth also. I bought some "100 calorie" granola bars - I've had the chips ahoy and oreo flavors and they are delicious! They only have 1.5 - 2g fat which is below the 3g suggested by Betty for snacks. They have worked well for me so far. I'm in need of an alli support buddy if you need support or to talk!

     Good luck to you!!

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

    Hi Majarucon:

I guess I would be a member of this club!  I am 5"2 and 175.  I started a lowfat diet with WW a few weeks before Alli came out and began taking Alli on June 19th.  I started out at 188....so far so good!  Let me know if you need a buddy.. btw, I have a huge sweet tooth, but it seems to have mellowed out a LOT since starting this program.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

HI, I'm 5'1 and 153pounds. I also started weight watchers last week and have lost 4 pounds on the WW/alli plan. I;m scared straight! I was really careful not to eat any fat. Then I went camping and it was really tough. I did expeirence treatment effects while camping then got right back on program. I used to save  my 35 points for a special meal but will have to change how I did things before. Sweet tooth advice ...Diet A&W Root beer I am going camping again on Friday but with my skinny friends this time.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

Sounds like we're both in the same boat!  I'm 5' 0" and weigh 142 and am considered obese.  I have more muscle than fat, too.  I wonder how the standard BMI calculations can be true since muscle weighs more than fat.  I've been on WW for a week and according to their plan (weighing less than 150) I should be eating 1200 calories a day.  I started takin Alli yesterday (9 Jul) and have been taking a pill with each meal (even though I don't consume 12 grams of fat).   Don't know if I should do that or not....do you?  I plan to give ALLI a whirl for a month and see what happens.   As far as the sweet tooth...when I was last on WW (1 yr ago) I ate low fat ice cream and made some great low fat/fat free desserts with the WW Cookbook!  My weakness is wine and salty snacks!  Plan on cooling my heels on both for a month!  IDG

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

    Hello,

5'2" ,160 that's me in a nut shell!!  (A big one!!) I too have a sweet tooth.   Tried WW years ago and could not continue going.  Suppose I should sign up again since these things work well together.  I am concerned when I see all the sugar in these low fat foods!  Anyone have some ideas?  My mom was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago.  She quit sugar almost completely and lost 36 lbs., in 3 months.  I am debating on which would be best for me!  I also have a sister that had gastric bypass.  I know I am not a candidate for that, but her results are fantastic!  She has kept it all off for 3 years!

Best of luck to you on your journey to become healthy!

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

Hi.  I'm Tikii.  I'm also short and overweight or underthin.  I'm 5"1' if I stand really, really tall.  I started Alli 3 weeks ago at 182.  Lost 4 lbs the first week, 2 the next, and none on this past Monday, however on the scale this morning (Tuesday), I'm down another lb.  I also definitely have a sweet tooth.  I use those 100 calorie pkgs. of cookies.  I'm also going to try the choc. cake recipe where you take a box of plain choc. cake mix and add only 1 diet coke.  No butter, eggs, water or anything else.  It should have relatively low fat and not too many calories.  I've also tried the 100 cal. pkgs. of choc. cupcakes made by Hostess (used to be called Ding Dongs).  They were delicious.  However, even though there is 3 to a pkg, they are very, very small.  They did satisfy my craving for choc.  Good Luck.  I'm from East Central Illinois.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

HI :) I just picked up Alli. I'm 5ft tall. I was 173 back in February and then I started the South Beach Diet. I'm now 148, but I'm totally stuck at this weight so I needed a boost. Have you tried sugar replacements for your sweet tooth? I'm not much into sweets but I love to have vanilla lattes, so now I just make them sugar free vanilla. YUM!

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

    Dear girourari,

Look at your BMI again. You are not obese. You are in the overweight category, if that makes you feel better. (I felt better once I got out of the obese into the (merely) overweight category). I check my BMI once a week and cannot wait until I get into the Normal weight category.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

This is, unfortunately, me as well. I am 5'3 and recently discovered im 160 lbs! I have never been skinny, but I remember trying to lose weight when I was at 135. It just never happened. I am a serial dieter and have tried many other weight loss products. I am vegetarian and relatively active. I think carbs are my biggest problem (and genetics!) Today is my first day on alli, and my fingers are crossed. Good luck!

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I guess I should be part of this group too!  I am 5'3 and 180 pounds.  I started Alli on July 6th so I have not weighed in yet.  I also have a HUGE sweet tooth.  It is so hard for me to not grap something chocolate while the kids nap.  I look forward to hearing about everyone's successful weight loss.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I too am a member of the short and overweight club. I'm 5'1" and 152 lbs. I'm currently not on Weight Watchers, but have done the online version in the past. I fell off the wagon and went months without logging in, so I eventually cancelled it. Maybe, I should crank that membership back up again. :-) I started Alli yesterday and am already having trouble eating all of the food. The 3 recipes that I've tried so far have been delicious and very easy to fix. :-)

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I have been searching for a "fit" for me within the millions of replies here.  I am feeling a fit here.  I am 5' 1" and was at my heaviest of my life at 160 just recently.  I started alli and dropped about 9 lbs. then July 4th occured and family/friend parties for about a week.  It is so hard to reestablish the committment that it takes to be successful.  I know it is a lifestyle change, and I want it to be a lifestyle change.  Tonight, I will eat no more, and tomorrow I will get up, walk, take an alli and start with my lowfat, low cal eating plan again.  Thanks for being there.

    Re: Short and Overweight Club

I guess I fit too! I'm 5"2' and started Alli at 190 lbs. on June 15th with an obese BMI of 33. (That hurts to say!) I lost 7.5 lbs the first week, 2.5 lbs the second, 1 lb the 3rd. I weigh in tomorrow (I only weigh myself once a week) so I'll have to let you know how I did for week four.

I have a sweet tooth and a salty tooth. If I eat one then I need to eat the other. For the time being I'm just trying to stay away from both. They are my "red light" foods and I have trouble controlling the portions. No such thing as "I can eat just one". One of these days thou I know I'll need to get it under control, but getting the weight off is my priority right now. Baby steps, right?

I alway liked the saying, "I'm not overweight, I'm just under tall!" I can't wait until I can say "I'm not overweight I'm just right!"

Good luck to all of us height challenged people.
