I understand a lot of people's frustrations when the scale stops moving. If you're not losing or stopped losing, something needs to change and these boards provide a wealth of information to help you pinpoint where you're going wrong. After reading countless posts, I guarantee you the answer to your problem is probably there. If people are too lazy to read other's suggestions and take their advice, then they're probably not going to do the work it takes to lose weight. This doesn't apply to everyone, mind you. We all need advice, we all need support, we all need to vent...and thats ok! But how many posts do you see from people complaining that they're not losing weight, or have lost little weight, but go on to say 'I'm eating well under my 1600 calories a day' and such.
As for the TE complainers. Well...call me sick...but I find it funny as hell! I've been taking Alli for a few days now and watch every gram of fat that I eat. I haven't had a single problem. My cousin has been taking it for weeks on a low-fat diet, zero problems until she splurged on movie popcorn...but she knew it was coming! Thats the thing. If you read your books, read the site, scan the message boards, you gotta know theres a TE with your name all over it at the bottom of that plate of nachos! I bought Alli for my husband and myself to try. When I brought home the starter kit, I read over the information and placed the literature on the table in front of my husband and suggested he look it over. It's still sitting there. I gave him the Alli website address and showed him where you can sign up and get info...blah blah blah. He hasn't looked at the site. So, while I've been counting calories and monitoring fat intake and taking my pills religiously 3 times a day, he's come home from work a couple times and said 'Where are those pills? I had a really fatty lunch.' Now...he hasn't had a TE yet..yet! But I know it's coming...you know it's coming...we all know it's coming! And when it does, I'm going to be thoroughly amused. When the spasms of laughter finally subside, I think I'll just push the Alli booklets under the bathroom door and tell him 'Just in case you need some reading material in there...'
Alli is a program, not a 'magic pill', people. If you're not losing or you're having TE's, deep down you probably know why...if you don't, read your books and scan the message boards! If you're still going nowhere, then ask for help. The answer could be as simple as adding a few calories or trying a different exercise. It also says in the book that this diet won't benefit you if you're already on a very low fat diet or don't need to lose weight. Just something to consider. Good luck!
