can you double up on 60mg alli to equal 120 mg xenical?

I have taken alli for 10 months now and have lost 30 pounds altogether. I am very proud of that fact even though it has been extremely slow, never the less, I am 30 pounds lighter. However, the last two months on alli have been completely unsuccessfull. I have stopped taking the pills for a while since they seem to have stopped working. I have continued to eat right and exercise, but I have lost nothing else. So, my question is would it be safe to double up on 60 mg alli to equal 120mg xenical since it is basically the same medication just different dosages. I think I might benefit from a higher dosage since I still need to lose 30 more pounds. I really need some advice, please help!

Alli and possible liver disease?

Saw it on the news and got concerned. I have stopped taking the medicine for the moment as I do not have insurance to monitor my liver. I was happy w/ the product and would like to start taking it again. I have tried to continue eating healthy and am still losing weight, just not as much as I probably would if was still taking the Alli.

Can you tell me more information on the liver issue? Is Alli still safe to take? Please advise.

Frusterated Already. Help!

I have been taking Alli for 5 days now. I have had no "treatment effects" (which I am not frusterated about), but have also not seen any results. By the 2nd day of taking the pills (5th day of the food diet), I had lost 2.6 pounds. :o) Then today (day 5 on pills) I checked the scale and had gained 0.9 back. Am I doing something wrong? I am watching the fat grams and keeping them below 8 or 9 grams. Last night I had 14 for dinner, but the other 2 main meals were well under my target >17 grams of fat. I am snacking on mints with 0 grams of fat at various times throughout the day. What am I doing wrong??

Serious Side effects

I started taking Alli in January 2009. By March I had lost about 20 lbs. I had to quit taking them because of shoulder surgery and then began again about a month later. I started having serious pain after I ate certain foods and was eventually diagnosed with gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. I stopped taking Alli in June, Gallbladder removed July 6th. I have not gone back to Alli mainly because I have since had a Leep procedure and by the end of July I had a remaining stone removed from the common bile duct (caused Pancreatitis and billirium in my urine).

I was considering going back on Alli when I realized that Alli is the non prescription form of Xenical. The warnings for this drug say not to take it if you have had pancreatitis, gallbladder problems or Kidney stones (among others).

My question is... I have never had Gallbladder problems before Alli. It came on me quick after taking Alli. Is it possible that Alli caused the Gallbladder problems?

Also ... If a gall stone cause pancreatitis, is it now Unsafe for me to take Alli?

I just began taking alli for the first time, and other than being overweight, I am in good health and am not taking any other medications. When I take alli with my meals, I become excruciatingly nauseous, to the point of not being able to perform daily tasks. Is this normal? I have been religious about the tracking of calories and fat intake. Could I be allergic to alli?

how long can you take alli? and what do you do when you reach goal for maintenance?

I have been taking alli since April, 2009. It is Nov. 2009 and I have just reached 50lbs. lost. I have a lot more to go but would like to know how long you can take alli safely and once you reach your goal weight, how do you maintaine the weight loss.

I have a tendency toward urinary tract infections and I understand that UTIs can be a side effect for some Alli users. Why does Alli encourage UTIs in some people? I am appreciating the results from Alli, but would like to take additional steps, if possible, to prevent UTIs.

Does this mean they run out on the 10th November OR October 2011?

Alli and cholesterol

I have been taking Alli for about 6 months now. I also take Tricor for cholesterol. I just had my annual blood work done and was shocked at my cholesterol levels and my doctor was as well. We were both expecting my previous level of 209 to drop because of the huge changes I've made to my diet. However, my level actually jumped to 259! My doctor immediately told me to stop taking the Alli because she is afraid that the pill my have something to do with the jump. Is this possible? I told her that I did not want to stop taking Alli because it has helped me so much (30 lbs. in 6 months). She of course insists that it's the change in my diet that has caused the weight loss. What are your thoughts on this?

My bottle says to take one with meals containing fat.

For lunch today I am having a salad with iceberg lettuce, a few peices of bell pepper, a couple of slices of fresh mushroom, a small sprinkle of sunflower seeds, very little vinegar/oil, 5 black olives and a banana.

Should I take one with that? If so, should I take it before or after I eat?

Hi:

I have been on Alli for almost one month and I have lost 6 pounds so far. I went to a derm today for my acne and was prescribed Accutane and the nurse there told me I should discontiune any meds that would interfer with liver functions. Is this true. I am very sad and do not want to stop Alli with my recent success. I finally feel like I am losing weight and feeling good. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a question very important for me, and I really sure out there is a lot a people with the same problem. I have PCOS, means:PoliCysticOvaricSyndrom; and when you have this problem you gain weight easily or have problem to loose weight; also the shape of the body is different more like a men not a women; so, the fat is stored in the middle section of your body.

My question is, do you think alli will work in the same way for me? or can I take more capsules of alli daily? or just any advise o difference?

Joint Pain

I've had difficulty with joint pain, especially in my hands, wrists, hips, knees, and feet, for a good while now. Since I started taking Alli, though, I'm having pain in all my joints--shoulders, elbows (not too much), wrists/hands/hips/knees/ankles/feet--more than usual.

I'm wondering if joint pain is a side effect of Alli.

I take Celebrex twice a day, Aleve twice a day, and Glucosamine/Chondroitin twice a day. I do Water Aerobics 2-3 times a week, walk 3/4 mile 3-4 times a week, and I've recently eliminated red meat, pork, and other foods that cause inflammation from my diet. I'm about 95% vegetarian now.

I've had tests for RA--negative. I've also had my hands x-rayed for signs of OA. Only minor evidence. I'm 60 years old and in good health otherwise, except for allergies.

I'm a professional writer, so I sit at the computer, typing, for several hours every day, with breaks about every half hour. After sitting, I have great difficulty walking without stiffness and pain in my hips and knees.

After typing for even a short period of time, my hands burn from joint inflammation.

Hello, I found a store that had a ton of alli pills at extremely low cost so I bought about 7 boxes... when I got them home I noticed they are all a month or two past the expiration date so I was curious if they will still work. I tried them once before and I liked them. I at fist had really greasy stools. Well I have been taking them for 2 days now and haven't had that symptom and was curious if the pills will still work being outdated.

I've been taking alli for 3 weeks without any problems until today that I started having stomach cramps in the lower abdomen.

I haven't had a high fat diet . Which is the explanation to this side effects? and, should I stop taking alli until the cramps stop?

fat grams -enough or what? confused

With any diet I guess you have to watch fat grams anyway.But if I never have 15 grams of fat anyway for brekfast then do I have to consume more fat grams to get alli to work? Now am I still just eating more than I originally was and by taking alli with a higher than fat gram intake than I usually take arent I defeating the purpose? And How do I find out how many fat grams are in stuff that doesnt have it listed? Liike stuff that isnt packaged? What if my meals arent as high in fat and I get hungry for a snack later and my snacks are higher in fat? I am so confused!

I have been on Alli for two weeks on Thursday, but I started having pain on the lower left side of my stomach and lots of very strong gas pain. Are both of these side effects? I did eat alot of fatty foods yesterday. The lower left side stomach pain is the concern of mine...

I take alot of medicines and wondered if it would be safe to take alli? i have fibromalgia(?)- chronic pain from a back injury - I also have a spinal stimulator with a battery inplant-I have also had a back fusion-so you see I have alot of medical problems-along with IBS & acid refluex- I take pristiq-lortab-lyrica-remeron-baclofin-nexium-lomotil-I would like to loose some weight but I do not want to interact with my medications-I know some side effects of the lyrica and remeron are weight gain-so would the alli even help me loose?

I have read other posts about taking Alli with anti-depressants but I am on a slew of them.

I am currently taking Remeron, Paxil CR, Invega, Desiprimine, Abilify, and (B2 Riboflavin, Magnesium for headaches). Is it still safe? These are lots of drugs and serious drugs and I am concerned about side effects but would love the help of ALLI losing weight. I have been struggling for months to lose weight and I would love this boost.
