I'm new. I'm just starting the diet and I've come to some realizations:

1. I had no idea just how little I actually ate on a daily basis until I starting keeping a food journal.

and

2. I need some ideas for food on the go that don't come from a drive thru. I have an early morning shift with a long commute. I have no time to cook before I leave and I have no time to stop at a drive-thru. Waking up earlier is not an option. I already rise before the chickens. LOL Really. I'm up every morning at 3:30am.

What I need are recipes and ideas for breakfast or lunch that not only can be made the night before to grab and go the next day but that are also close to what I should be eating fat wise. (I'm finding it very difficult to eat the amount of fat I should. I'm so used to being told to reduce my fat to next to nothing that I'm afraid the larger fat intake will cause me to gain weight instead of lose it.) Does anyone have any suggestions? Someone please help.

Peanut Butter

How is everyone eating peanut butter??The peanut butter I have is creamy Jiff and it has like 17grams of fat per 2 tbsp??That is two over the fat allowances per my meal. I am suppose to have 19 fat grams per meal, but I am doing 15 fat grams per meal becuse I m fraid of treatment effects. But how are you guys eating peanut butter with other things?

Any Chicken Ideas

I've been sticking a lot to the boneless chicken breast.
My favorite is the oriental chicken salad!! SOOO easy to make and have on hand too. I think you can up the fat content by adding some nuts to it!

My mom is helping me by giving me a list of foods and their accompanying information. My concern is that when I leave her home to return to where I am staying, I won't have access to the same type of food. We normally don't have fresh fruit in the house for any length of time because it gets eaten with in days. My grandma buys whatever food we do have and I really don't have the money to buy my own set of groceries. I am not working and I am going to school full time.

Looking at the sample menu and even at some of the suggestions for breakfast just seem to extravagent for me. I can definitely do toast and cereal in the morning but absolutely no peanut butter. But looking at what everyone else has written, it doesn't seem like that would be enough. Would it be? If it isn't what would be simple breakfast solutions without making a smoothie or making an omelett or waffles and again absolutely no pb (i just can't stand the taste or the feeling of it stuck to your mouth).

I also make smoothies with it.

Chocolote peanut butter banana smoothie

Start with oatmeal, made how you like, I use the fruit and cream packages, varying the flavor. These are typically low in fat, so to add a bit more, stir in a tablespoon of peanut butter. I know it sounds crazy to mix with the fruit and cream instant flavors, but it is truely amazing! And, being oatmeal, it keeps you full for much longer than most breakfast items.
Real simple is a bowl of 100% Bran Flakes does not matter what the brand name is.

Bran Flakes 1 1/2 cups equals 220 calories and that is a huge bowl. I put in 2% milk which is 130 calories which is a total of 350 calories. The fiber in the bran flakes keeps me feeling fuller longer. I also put splenda on my bran flakes to sweeten it up.

The 2nd breakfast item I eat 3-4 times a week is:

2 Jimmy Dean Turkey sausage patties ( or 3 Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage LINKS) The all equal 120 calories and 7 grams of fat.

1 1/4 cups of ORE IDA Hash Browns 70 calories and 0 grams of fat made with Olive Oil cooking spray.

9 tablespoons of EGG BEATERS 100% egg whites 75 calories 0 grams of fat ! Use the 0 calorie Olive oil Spray.

1/2 cup of canned diced tomatoes 25 calories

You can add more or less 50-75 calories of egg or has browns

BUT THIS MAKES A HUGE PLATE OF FOOD FOR ONLY 290 CALORIES !!! AND 7 GRAMS OF FAT !

Breakfast is the most important meal and should be your biggest one to get your metabolism rolling.

I hope this helps someone. And Please post me some ideas I would love them or I would not be on here looking in this area for recipes LOL !!

I can't just purchase materials, take them home, use a tiny bit then throw the rest away but the meal plan just calls for a bit of this or that and the following items on the menu never take into consideration what ingredients you have on hand from the previous dishes. So the perishables just perish. This would be hugely expensive and a total waste. Should I just not pay attention to the meal plan and buy prepared foods that are low in calories and fat or is there someway to cook my own meals that is inexpensive and mindful of waste?

I start tomorrow (Saturday)

Technically, Saturday is here now as it is 1:45 AM but I am still up from Friday so technically I start when I wake up. I just wanted to let everyone know that while preparing for my new Alli journey I grabbed an Egg White Turkey Sausage Flatbread Breakfast sandwich and it was so good! I was surprised, because I have had them off and on since the product launched, even when I was not thinking about Alli. Today was the best I have had yet. Call it coincedence, that I finally started liking the crazy diet food but I have to say it was the best and after thoroughly reviewing all the nutritionals it falls well into the Alli guidelines. I am looking forward into incorporating this into my bi-daily work breakfast. I also plan to grab some portable fruit cups to compliment them to add extra nutrients. I am happy. I can't wait to start. I know I am going to do great on this diet.

1 serving of FiberOne pancake mix, (makes 3 pancakes)

Toss in 1/2 sliced banana and some blueberries in the batter...

Cook as normally

Then... (here's the best part) - Spread Peanut butter on them 1-2 tablespoons depending on your daily allowance of fat and they type of PB you have.
