Welcome to the 200 Club!

There are a few of us posting in the Guy's area of the board who are determined to achieve the goal of 200 lbs. We are all starting from slightly different beginnngs, but are all headed to the same place. We had the idea of starting a board for us - the 200 Club. If you are headed anywhere near this destination, DO JOIN US.

This invitation is to join us to share experiences and successes, to encourage each other, and to keep us all focused on the big prize!

Here is my intro:

I'm Brian, 48, married, two grown kids, living near Philadelphia.

I started with alli at 250 lbs. One week later, I'm 7 pounds lighter.

I've exercised 5 of the last 7 days. (I'm world class at joining gyms, but have been useless at actually going to them).

My calorie target is 1800. I'm tracking every mouthful at www.fitday.com. I'm averaging 1900, but I am working on it.

I have given myself the fairly agressive target of losing 50 lbs in 4 months. I have seen some truly inspirational experiences on this message board and am totally psyched. To quote President Obama: Yes we can!

Best wishes to you guys. I look forward to learning more about you as we put this 200 club together!

I started at 300 pounds about 18 months ago, and lost 30 pounds in 11 weeks. I even created a youtube video chronicling my weight loss..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlx7hz86HRs

I maintained that for a few months, but then I let myself slip back up to 285. Last thanksgiving I started working again and Got myself down to 260 by the end of february.

Then I hit a wall... I got down to 255, but the weight came back for no good reason, and I have hovered between 258 and 261 since then. Even though I watch what I eat, and probably sweat off 1000-1500 calories a week on the treadmill

So that why today I bough alli, to try to get me over the 250 hump. My Dr recommended it to me, and says it really works. I already dont eat much fat, so I'm hoping the side effects will be minimal.

My first goal is 250, after that... I just want to keep bringing down my gut.

I know this isnt going to be easy at all. My goal is to drop 100lbs, and go from a current 46 waist back down to at least a 36 waist...Anyone have any words of wisdom that I may or maynot already know or need.

Are there any actual community circles that meet up as support groups. I am in the metro St Louis area (Edwardsville IL).

Today i weighed in at 221.4. Call it crazy, but it happened. I expect next week will only be a loss of about 2-3 lbs but i'm excited that i lost that much this week. My abercrombie button down shirts fit me again without bunching all up when i sit down. A big plus because i love my clothes and i bought them knowing that i needed to lose weight before i wore them. So i'm very happy that i can do that now.

I did make a few slip ups. I drank on wednesday night, 7 bud lights. Then i went to a diner late that night and ate breakfast food, very bad idea. I was so mad at myself the next day. so mad. But that was my only major slip up.

But i'm happy right now. This is actually a simple way to live. Anywhere from 3-12 grams of fat per meal is easy to abide by, And my calories rarely exceed over 1500 a day. So i'm lovin it.

This is it for me

Hello my name is Russ, I am 45 and a type II diabetic and just quit smoking after 30 years of abuse to my body my last doctors visit was not good.
One of the biggest encouragments I have had on this DB is seeing people with a history of weight loss on the program. There are a lot of new people, like myself who have failed within a month or so of starting other programs. However, there are many of you who have seen real results.

So, what I am asking for is for those of you who have hung around for a little while and have seen some success to post the numbers. I have a long way to go, and seeing the success of some of you is motivating!

I started last night with a pill but no bad side effects. This AM, I had a bowl of raisin bran and skim milk. As I did not eat too many fat grams, I did not take a pill. Is this correct? Should I take a pill only when I eat 15-16 fat grams with a meal or thereabouts? Must I take in that much fat with a meal- I can eat very lean when motivated as I am now. Mostly, I worry about the TE's and that keeps me from eating badly.

Just starting, need some advice.

Hey everyone. I just recently turned 18 years old, and was excited because I now can purchase alli, and I did. I bought it today, June 27th, and I'm hoping for some good results. I was hoping I could get some advice on what I plan to do. All day long today I have been reading every booklet that came with the starter kit and posts and information online, as well as the 1-2-3 program. I was looking through all the meal plans, and I gotta say, being 18, I definitely can't cook that, and I definitely can't afford that. However, I can afford certain stuff.

My current weight right now is 250lbs. and I am 6'1''. I'm hoping to get down to at least 210lbs. Now, what my question is, can anyone just check out my plan, and tell me if it's good, and what not? Now, I have all this set up, and will stick to it, and I don't get bored of eating the same thing over and over again, therefore this plan won't bore me.

Breakfast- A bagel(don't know which type has least fat) with low-fat/non-fat butter, and a yogurt, low-fat, and probably with fruits, I cant stand plain yogurt.

Lunch-Salad, just green lettuce, maybe some tomatoes, with vinegar(love my salad with vinegar, I hate all other dressings, is vinegar bad, fat wise and such?) And maybe a sandwich, with low-fat mayo, lettuce, breads wheat, and some low-fat ham(if there's such a thing?).

Dinner-I'm not quite sure what I'm having for dinner, being 18 and still in highschool, I don't make my own food, but probably fish/chicken, cooked/broiled, I despise vegetables, only eat lettuce, I know, it's not good, but I can't eat vegetables, they're disgusting. Maybe a fruit too.

For snacks, which I figured are the main reason I am so over-weight(I eat more snacks then I eat regular food and stuff), I'll be having only fruits, like strawberries and stuff.

Exercise- I do have a pool, which I'll be taking full advantage of, since one of the activities listed is laps for 20 minutes. Also, my mom has this exercise video program which looks not so bad, so I figure I'll mix my exercise routine every day, swimming, walking, running, riding bike, and also the exercise video. Once in the morning, and once at night.

I know it's a lot to read, and I hope someone could maybe comment on what I've written, or give advice on making it better, or if it's not enough eating/too much. I'm trying to use the calorie/fat counter booklet/chart, but it's confusing me immensly, haha.

Thanks for the help, and I hope alli helps me just as it has helped the countless amount of people on this online community.

I'm 30 years old and I currently weigh 285lbs at a height of 5'11. I've gained 20 lbs a year for the past 4 years and that trend needs to change. I'm getting married in July and I want to be about 230-240. We're taking our honeymoon a month later and I want to be 220. It'll be nice to be able to take my shirt off at the beach without feeling like everyone is looking at the fat guy.

I've lost 60 lbs before but that was when I was in my early 20's. I have faith that I can do it again and I hope that Alli can help. I've been eating sorta healthy for few days and today is the first day taking the pills, so far no problems. Tomorrow I start lifting weights and doing cardio.

Wish me luck!

Before I started taking alli, I was having 3-4, maybe more on certain days (because I take metamucil fiber and drink a lot of green tea). I've only been on the stuff for 3 days. Does it take sometime to start working right? Is it because I'm a man? is it less efective with our metabolism?

I'm excercising at least once a day for an hour and have a good fiber intake. What's the deal?

Isn't the thing with alli that you basically defecate out some of the fat, so that you are taking in less calroies/fat per day?
I am 22 and I have always been fat. Recently, I have tried exercising often and eating healthy to lose 100+ pounds, but my results have been a lot more to be desired. I read about Alli and heard good things. I am hoping it will catalyze the weight loss process. I am 289 and want to get down to 175. Wish me luck!

I am going to take my first alli pill tomorrow.

3rd day with alli - 18 yrs. old

Hey everyone!

The names Al,

I'm 18 years old, I weigh 220 and i'm 5'9,

i recently lost 10 pounds in acouple of weeks with basically starving myself, which i would only eat like one good meal, and thats pretty much it, but it's too hard and not good for me to do that so i decided and started Alli this past sunday.

I've been going to the gym for like 3-4 weeks now, so im very use to running, and other excercising methods, so i hope to see some results soon.

Started it back early in 2007 for a month and lost ten pounds... but then I became unmotivated and stopped. Even bought a nice elliptical that I just used for that month. Gained all the weight back, and then some, so time to get serious. Going to eat right, work out for at least 60 minutes a week on the elliptical, and do some light weight lifting.

I'm 20, weigh a biscuit under 290 pounds, and would like to get below 250 before my birthday in July.

My biggest challenge is that I'm a traveling salesman and spend a good deal of time on the road. Going to do my best to overcome this!

Looking forward to the challenge and will definitely use the boards more often to read what works for others and get encouragement.

I wanted to report that I behaved myself this weekend and didnt fall off the wagon. It helped that I had to work while the ballgame was played. On friday night, me and the wifey went out to eat. I am happy to report that Applebee's restaurant has some healthy lowfat options on their menu. I also have discovered that I like nonfat cottage cheese. It is 90 calories for a 1/2 cup and it is a good compliment with lunch. I am adding some light cardio work to my routine, but I am being cautious about it. In the past when I have worked out hard, I always wanted to "get my grubb on" afterwards. I want to say thanks for your stories, it is motivating to hear fellas going through the same struggles. One day at a time.

Today I am happy to report that I now weigh 254. I feel great! I am starting to find other foods I can still enjoy without racking up calories and fat. For exercise, I have been going on a eliptical machine and lifting dumbbells. I also have been walking my dog. I would call my activity level moderate. I want to be in the 200lb club. I also want to be in the "no shirt" club. Just like most guys, all of my fat is in my abdomen area. I also have a very motivating picture to look at everytime I open my wallet: My Drivers License! Man, I dont want to be that guy anymore! Have a great weekend everyone and avoid the Super Bowl junk food.

My first situation is that I'm about 460 pounds right now, trying to watch my diet and cut out regular soda recently. I'm just not sure I can realistically cut down to the intake that is suggested for use with Alli. That makes me a bit afraid that I would suffer more in the way of side effects. I guess that's my biggest concern at this point. If I eat more calories and fat to compensate for what my body needs will that make the side effects worse? If I keep the percentages similar will that solve that issue? Any Ideas or help is greatly appreciated.
