    AAA

    Hi s a p f and Carol!

Here is our own little thread!

So yesterday I continured with staying off Alli to wait for any TE's from the extravagant 7 course dinner Saturday night. I already mentioned my breakfast and lunch on the other thread, and for dinner we went to a nearby village that has a family owned lodge-type place that specializes in pizza (no, we didn't!) and also these very lean 1/4" thick hamburger pattys that are as large as a saucer served on a super-thin home-baked roll. That is what I had, sans cheese. I started with a cup of Gazpacho w/o the sour cream or croutons. I ate 1/2 the burger.

Guess what? Still no TE's! I realize they can occur up to 72 hrs past the offending meal but I just feel like I'll be okay. I think it helped that I had not taken any Alli for that entire day.

The bad news? I stepped on our friend, 'the scale' and I am showing I am up 2lbs! Now I am going to think of that as a non-issue because I am not falling off the Alli-wagon! One meal out of 21 meals in a week will not make me fail!

As of today, I am back on Alli and will eat my well-balanced foods! The next great-escape meal is on August 7th (our 30th ann.) when we return to Tribute for a celebratory feast. I have employed a limo as the restaurant is 45min from out house. So until that day, I WILL be behaving like a saint!

s a p f, would you feel comfortable sharing your name? And, thank-you, by the way, for the search tip! I was familiar with that, but didn't realize I could do a bookmark on a website thread like this! Yes, I am a computer dummy!

I am in true awe of you that you can actually eat only ONE SLICE of pizza!!!! OMG...that would never be able to happen for me! I have stopped myslef and felt okay about it at 2 slices, as long as I have a HUGE salad prior. But I have an edge over you here where I live, I think.

Let me explain. A woman named Florine Mark, owns THE biggest franchise of WW in the United States. She lives here in a community near mine. (I actuallyy met her once at a scale mall whilst we were both shopping!). ANYway....there is a pizza chain here named Buddy's that is typically voted "Best IN Detroit" and they have 3 Florine Mark pizzas! Each one has a point designation, and are ALL made with fat-free brick cheese, and a huge amount of vegies. NONE have pepperoni, but instead use leaner meats like grilled chicken breast, turkey bacon or canadian ham. But still each slice is 5-6 points due to the thick-style crust Buddys' uses. I have not had pizza since starting Alli though.

Tonight the husband and I are going to order my new car! After, we are stopping at a restaurant called CRUST that is very stylish in decor, has a cool wine bar, and they specialize in......PIZZA!!  Actually, they have a wood-burning 900 degree oven and they make those super-thin crust-dinner-plate sized pizzas. They also have great salads and soup. We are going there as it is kitty-corner to the BMW dealership and it will be close to 9pm by the time we're done.

    Enough pizza talk already!

It is almost 8:30am and I think I'm ready for breakfast. Today I'll be doing weight-lifting circuits and for variety I'll use the Precor stepper. Wish I could join you in your hybrid-yoga class s_a_p_f! BTW, I understand your husbands feelings toward the different methods you have used to try to lose the 35lbs. I agree I think it's best you do it quietly and PROVE that there is a right way for you to do it! You just need to be diligent, patient, and stay the course. As we are all in our early 50's, we aren't going to drop 5lbs in a week and have it show! We need to keep making smart choices with food, use our bodies in motion, and build muscle as well.

I am SURE at Christmas we can ALL be atleast one size smaller!

Carol....I'll be posting over on our thread (which you are welcome to join as well s_a_p_f!) but I'll be sticking with the exercize basics! BTW, we both are child-free too? We can make sure to give s_a_ p_f all our child-rearing advise we never were able to implement...hahaha!!

Looking forward to hearing GOOD reports from you both!

    Carol Joy

p.s. What movie did you see s_a_p_f ? I want to go see 'Sicko' but by husband, the Republican, can't stand Michael Moores' movies, I forced him to watch his other ones- but he did like  Al Gores' doc. on global warming...so there is hope for him!

    Hi Girls,

I like having this thread!  I'm also going to take s_a_p_f's advice and save it as a favorite.  I knew about favorites, but never thought about saving the thread!  Oh well, that proves we can learn something new everyday!!!

Yesterday, my meals were better, not great, but better than Saturday's.  I made a pouched egg on wheat toast with one small piece of ham and some potatoes in olive oil/and Pam.  Used to be ALL olive oil, but I'm learning too much will give the dreaded TE's.  :)

For lunch, we had 98% fat free hot dogs, buns and lo fat baked beans.  Very tasty and satisfied the "junk food" cravings I was having.  To bump up my fat grams, I put a piece of American cheese on my hot dog.  Not bad.  (Too much sodium, I know, but I'm so concerned about calories and fat grams, I'm not worrying about that yet.)

Dinner we were pretty stuffed from lunch, but I had a Campbell's Healthy Choice can of soup.  Pretty boring, huh!!?  Oh well, tonight we're having a turkey breast cooked on a rotisserie, veges, salad, etc.

Well, I'm off to get some exercise in at Curves in a little while.  I usually go early, but (I'm a self-employed accountant), a client of mine is coming over to drop some paper work off.  He just doesn't understand the exercise should come first.!  ha ha ha ha

I will check in later, hope I haven't babbled too much.   And yes, s_a_p_f, you're welcome to visit the "daily check-in" group.

     Have a great day!

    Carol

    Re: AAA

    Hi Carol Joy and Carol,

I found you!  Thank you for starting our thread Carol Joy and welcome Carol!  Sheesh!  The two Carols could get confusing for me so bear with me!

I couldn’t access the website at all this morning and now it is painfully slow.  I’m not sure what’s going on but I will try to post this and hope it goes through.

I’m glad the favorites tip helped.  It is a timesaver!

Carol Joy, great attitude about the temporary two pound gain.  You are right.  One meal in an otherwise good week will not do you in.  I have a 5 to 7 pound weight fluctuation normally so it is sometimes hard to know what is a loss and what is a gain.  Stick with it and you will be fine.  Gad!  What wonderful pizza choices you have there!  I’m not sure that is a good thing though the healthy one sounds like it would fit into the Alli plan easily, maybe even two pieces!

Your anniversary celebration sounds fab!  I think it’s ok, in fact good, to work around those special times on a plan.  I liked that WW had that little 15 point buffer for special times.  It took me a year to lose these 35 pounds on WW but I never felt deprived.  It was a livable plan and that is what I am looking for in Alli too.  So, enjoy, and then get right back on.

Speaking of getting right back on, I didn’t get on my treadmill today and will have to double up my weight training with my cardio tomorrow.  I had a dentist appointment first thing this morning and once I was showered and dressed, I didn’t feel like getting sweaty again.

We saw Gypsy Caravan at the movies last night.  It’s a  documentary about  a 6 week tour they did a few years back with gypsy musicians from four counties.  Very interesting and entertaining.  I haven’t seen Sicko yet but want to.  I enjoyed MM’s other films, well, maybe enjoyed is not the word, but found them enlightening.  Gore’s film was downright scary.  I took my teenage sons to see it.

BTW, I think my boys are past any advice you may have to offer.  Our job is pretty much done and now we just cross our fingers and hope they turn out to be decent adults when they get through this completely self absorbed stage.  Arghhhh…

I had a good on plan day today.  Low fat Nutrigrain waffles with homemade applesauce and turkey sausage for breakfast, a big green salad with 3 oz chicken breast for lunch, and turkey burgers, oven fries, corn from the co-op, and tomatoes from my garden for dinner.  We never got around to the turkey burgers last night since we had such a late lunch.

Well, hope this posts and hope that scale is good to you tomorrow morning!

It's almost midnight on Monday night, and I was knida buzzed from ordering my new car and a late dinner out, so thought I'd check in here with my girls!

s a p f, I hope you find this thread! It's still early in California so perhaps you just haven't been able to check -in yet.

I ate more than I wanted to at dinner, but didn't expect to not eat until 9pm! I was hungry! I didn't go over in calories for the day, but I think I was high on fat grams...I will now for sure tomorrow!

A friend is taking me out for a late birthday lunch celebration tomorrow! Other good news; on T/W/TH/F, my husband will be out to eat dinner with a golf outing and I won't have to cook! It will be easy for me to eat Helens' Asian Kitchen Frozen organic vegan meals each night! Best of all, no dishes.

Hoping to hear from you by morning s_a_p_f!

    Re: AAA

Sorry for the multiple posts.  Nothing seemed to be going through but when I checked back just now, I see that it did.  I don't know if it's the Alli site or my computer.

I also noticed a few typos in my post.  The gypsies were from four countries not four counties.

Congrats on your new car and happy belated birthday!  I wanted to get one of those little two seater Beemers but my husband says it'd be wasted on me because I never drive over the speed limit.

My husband golfs too.  I love it when I don’t have to worry about cooking dinner.  Enjoy.  Talk to you tomorrow.

    Re: AAA

    Good morning Girls,

Well, today was my 3rd week check-in.  I was down a 1/2 pound for the week.  That makes a total of 8 lbs so far.  I'm happy.  I know that I could have done better over the weekend, but I still lost!!!  This week should be interesting.  We play in a band (a 50+ Rock N Roll band).  The band consists of my husband, a great friend of ours and myself.  Tomorrow night we have a gig from 8pm to midnight.  We'll be loading the van tonight, but tomorrow will be the real work.  We set up and take down and play.  That's a lot of calorie burning.  When we play that late, we usually have a lite bite to eat when we get home around 2am.  I'm hoping that's not going to mess things up for me.  I'll make it a healthy snack, like Special K and fruit or something like that.  Now I wonder, do I count that snack as Wednesday night or Thursday morning?  :o)

Dana:  Glad to see that you found the thread.  I've had the same problem before, with repeat posts.  Not a problem.  So you're in California, so I guess when I'm writing this, you're probably sound a sleep.  I'm in Florida and it's about 8 am right now.

Carol Joy:  My husband plays golf some, too.  But it's been a while.  So far he's been real supportive with me.  Next week, though, we're going out to dinner with some friends we haven't seen in a couple of years.  I'm hoping I'll be able to work in my meal plan with no troubles.

Well, I was going to add walking to my exercise today, but it's raining this morning and is supposed to keep it up most of the day.  So, I guess, I'll just do my Curves workout by itself again.  I'll check in later and report on the exercise.

    Have a great Monday, girls.

    Carol

    Re: AAA

Top O' The Mornin' to you, Carol and Dana!!!

I am typing with tacky nails as I gave myself a french manicure at 6:30 this morning! It turned out pretty nice considering I still had Exedrine PM coursing thru my body after a paltry 6hrs of sleep! I also went to bed and awoke with a nasty sore throat! It's one of those that you don't want to even talk. (I should be a thrilling lunch companion today!)

Carol, I too am a fan of the simple, but delicious poached egg on toast! I buy the Horizon organic free range, cage free eggs...a great flavor and the poor chickens aren't tortured their whole miserable lives pecking each other to a bloody mess! Until I married almost 30yrs back, I always used a poacher 'tin' that you crack the egg into with a dallop of butter and then lid-it and allow it to steam. Then the husband taught me the drop-into-gently boiling water-swirl and until cooked method. Then a neighbor taught me to add a drop of white wine vinegar to the water to help the whites stay in form. Who knew the poached egg had so much technique behind it...LOL!

As far as hot dogs go, I gave up the beef and pork ones yrs. ago, and switched to delicious turkey franks. Then 2yrs back, gave those up for "Tofu Pups" the vegan alternative to the Hot Dog! Don't wrinkle your nose now...they actually have the REAL flavor! They also have FIBER and no sat. fat! I just love the name, quite "frankly"....harharhar

Good job getting back on the work-out track after your relaxing kick-back Sunday! As of now, 8am, I do NOT feel the urhge to work out. I feel lethargic and my throat is screaming "owwweee!"

Dana, Boy do I like typing that name better than the initials with the spaces! So much easier! I do not have formal office skills and sit here and basically peck away with 5 fingers! It propbably takes me twice as long to post as it does you two. Yesterdays' menu certainly sounded delish! Do you do your own oven fries or just buy the lowfat fries? A brand called 'Alexia' all organic, does a great one called 'Julienne Fries' which have 130cal/serving, 3.5gm fat, and 2gm fiber. I used to make the recipe from Oprahs' cook, Rosies', cookbook. It called for you to slice up your tater, toss in egg WHITES, season, and bake at 350 on a cookie sheet sprayed with Pam. Very good, but more time involved. Zero fat though!

I think the doc you mentioned has not been here yet. I love documentarys and foreign films as well. I am fortunate that my husband likes them too. However he also likes the high-action blockbusters like M.I.3, The Bourne series, and that ilk. I find as I get older, I have less tolerance for the 'chatters' and popcorn crunchers in the movie-house...so I try to pick off times to go so I don't get irritated!

I am sending my condolences to you for Carol and I not being able to share our sage child-rearing advise with you! But as long as your kids aren't spending time with Paris and Nicole and Lindsay in jail, kudos to you!! What is up with these celeb idiots? Hello parents?

Well here is my plan for today. I have to leave the house at 11:30 for a 12:30 lunch date, probably be home by 3pm. I have a personal training appt. with 2 clients, one ar 4pm, the other at 5:30pm. Right after that, I'll do the treadmill, probably just for 30min. After that, I have to run to the tanning place and get a 10min zap. Then home for Helens' Frozen dinner, some yogurt with berries, and maybe some tv viewing. Call the press for that excitement!

Now it's time for breakfast...the usual....Bran flakes, banana, skim milk...easy, safe, healthy, yummy!

Have a GREAT and HEALTHY day you two!

    Carol Joy

p.s. I am a car-aholic (Carol, I should watch NASCAR for as much as I like driving fast!) and I like the fast cars! I tried VERY hard to be responsible and get a Toyota Prius...but it sure doesn't drive like a bmw 535xi! It has a twin-turbo engine!! I ordered it in Jet Black, with dark brown leather interior (like a dark caramel color) and Light brown polplar wood trim. Again, I know I should of got 'leatherette', but the color was weird! The car should be here in 8 weeks! Then I'll drive to Florida, pick Carol up and we'll head to California to visit you Dana! It's probably dangerous for 3 foodies to spend much time together!

    Hey Carol!!!

Congrats on your week 3 weight-loss!!!! Your post was put up while I was typing mine this morning!

You will be busy the next couple of days! Be sure to take some apples, bananas, nutrion bars, so you aren't tempted to get off plan!

I am SO jealous you are in a rock group!! Seriously, I always wanted to be a female version of David Bowie! I adore all of his music, old and new (although I wasn't fond of his work with The Tin Machine).

I LOVE music myself and will be totally rocking-out with my new car stereo system, 7 speaker Harmon-Kardon surround sound (with high-def radio)!

When I do treadmill, I listen to Madonnas' 'Confessions on a Dancefloor' until my husband wants to hurl. I also listen to The Doors when I jog (the right tempo) and when I run, I listen to techno usually or club, for the high tempo. Other faves are anything retro new-wave, punk or disco!

shoot, I think I want to go do the treadmill now!!

    Happy Tuesday gals

    Re: AAA

Well, girls, I'm back from Curves.  I did 4 laps around the circuit today.  At first, I didn't think I would make it, but I really feel GREAT!!!  Since it's stop raining, I might even go for a walk later.  Just had a yogurt and a bottle of water.  Needed the water after that workout!!!  For lunch, I'm thinking about having a Lean Cuisine Margherita Pizza.  I've been reading so many posts about pizza and I'm craving.  There's only 9 g of fat, so I should be just fine.  For dinner my husband suggested a chef salad.  You know, I've been calculating, it's going to be hard to get the fat grams in for that!!  I think I'll have some lo fat cream cheese on a bagel crisp cracker.  That should boost me up, and add a little crunch to dinner.

Carol Joy:  How did you know I wrinkled my nose at the hot dog!!  We are eating turkey franks now, since they are so low in fat.  Not bad.  Good luck with lunch and I hope your throat feels better.  Don't over do the exercise and end up sick!!!   I also, love music.  I listen to it all the time.  Our band is called D'Band.  We have a website, but I don't know if I'm allowed to post it on the thread.

I used to own a BMW and just loved it!  I know you're going to love yours.  Don't drive too fast, though!!  Congratulations!

Dana:  I guess you're probably getting ready for the day, now, since you're, what 3 hours earlier than me?  How's the weather out in California?   It was raining here this morning and all of a sudden, it's a beautiful day!  And they said it was going to be 90% rain all day.  It must be nice to have a job (Weather person) and be wrong most of the time and not worried about losing your job!

Well, I've rattled enough for today.  Talk to you all later,

    Carol

    Re: AAA

    Good Morning Ladies,

I have already done my weight training (lower body) and had a healthy breakfast of an egg sub omelet with mushrooms, chives, and low fat cheese, with rye toast.  Now I am full and my cardio will have to wait.

Carol, congrats on your 1/2 pound and on 8 pounds overall!  That is excellent!  I seem to be holding my weight but I think it is partly water retention because I have been pretty much on track since we got back from vacation.  I still have TOM but they are less regular than they used to be.  I used to be like clockwork with the full moon.  The week before I still suffer PMS with migraines and hungry food cravings.  I have had some mild bouts with both this week so I'm hoping that my lack of losing can be attributed to that.

Carol, your band sounds like so much fun.  I love to sing and accompany myself on guitar but my audience is pretty much limited to my second graders!

Carol Joy, I do my own oven fries because I get potatoes nearly every week from the co-op.  I just toss them with a little olive oil and add some seasoning salt.  It really doesn't take much more time.  I just wash them good and don't bother to peel them.  I'll have to try the egg white way though.  I've never heard that one.  I haven't tried many tofu products.  I've tried a few and not been too impressed.  The meatless meatballs didn't go over very well with my family.  I do like some of the Boca products though and I love the tofu blintzes I get at Trader Joes.  Do you have a Trader's in your area?

I have the same issues with going to the movies though we have a nice little art house theater that gets great films that I enjoy going to.  My husband and I differ in our movie preferences too.  We are always sneaking into our Netflix list and bumping our different choices to the top.  Currently we have two "chick flicks" waiting to be watched.  Notes on a Scandal, and Keeping Mum are not films my husband chose.  (giggle)

Your car sounds delish!  But yes, a road trip could be dangerous.  Just been there, done that with my sisters.

Carol Joy, enjoy your lunch out and your evening at home, and Carol, hope the gig goes well and you aren't tempted to overdo after it.  I'll try to check in later though my computer is still giving me trouble.

    D.
