    does it really matter?

Hi, cant you just come up with your own plan as long as you stay within the fat gram range? Can you eat ww and lean cuisine dinners? My biggest problem is breakfast, I hate eating in the morning, so far all I could see I like is oatmeal. Pat

    Re: does it really matter?

I will primarily be using my own ideas to eat low-fat and recording what I eat to stay on track.

I've worked on some of the meal planning and nutrition log, but what a pain. I would rather write it down and take some of the meal ideas from here.

I pulled out a recipe book "Low on the Go" I've had for 10 or more years and made a pasta dish with broccoli, tomatoes, pasta, low-fat sour cream, non-fat yogurt, garlic, seasoning and parm cheese. I forgot how much I liked this recipe and how easy it is to make. I have leftovers for a couple other meals and... my son ate it for dinner too. Yea!

You can do whatever you want.  Whether you end up eating nutritionally what's best for you is another story.  Alli drug only cares about fat grams. You need to care about the rest.

    Re: does it really matter?

    Hi Pat,

You are free to follow any plan that you like. Alli is going to work on the fat in your plan so you do need to pay attention to that. You will want to go for the grams that you were given in your plan. You will need a minimum of 5 grams of fat in your meal in order to take your Alli. If you are lower than that do not take it. Fat is not the only thing to pay attention to though. You will need to lower your calories in order to lose weight. If your calorie intake is higher than what your body needs you won't lose weight. If you are currently maintaining your weight then all that you need to do is cut out 500 calories per day to lose a pound a week. You can also look at it as cutting out 3500 calories per week to allow some room in your plan each day. For example, one day you may cut back 300 calories and the next you cut back 700. As long as your total defecit is 3500 calories, you will lose one pound. Good luck and keep us posted, Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
