Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

Thank you for your response.  I have been reading a lot of the materials posted and its been very helpful.  I need to get my mind adjusted to eating more to get my metabolism working again.  I did lose a couple of pounds the first week so am hopefully on my way.  Now I just have to figure out how to post my losses on my site so I can keep track.

Hoping to be a size 8

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

I have a question? I am new to Alli program and have started my low-fat diet as instructed and will be starting the actual pills on Monday. What I am confused about is in all the Alli info and website it keeps mentioning the 15 gram fat intake level and not to exceed that. However when I registered online and entered my weight, height, etc. it came back telling me to do 1800 calories and 19 grams of fat per meal. Is that going to cause me to have more issues or treatment effects since I am over the 15 grams? I want to follow what it is telling me but want to be sure I am doing what is right??

If anyone can shed light on this for me before I take the BIG PLUNG. I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you - Kristen

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

Yes, that IS confusing, and I apologize for that.  Actually, 15 grams is the average amount of fat on the 4 alli calorie levels.  The range is 12 to 19 grams of fat per meal; so for the 1,800 calorie level 19 grams is correct.

Sorry for the confusion.  Please feel free to start a new post when you have a new question.  If you'd like me to reply put "Pat, please read" in the subject line.  Sylvia Melendez is the other registered dietitian who answers questions on this board.

    Good luck!

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

Thank you Betty.  What I am wondering is, can Alli work in conjunction with a program such as Weight Watchers?  I bought the Alli starter kit yesterday, and, am also a Weight Watcher alumni.  Unfortunately, I find myself counting points non-stop.  I started Alli today, and, have tracked both my "points" and "fat grams".  On Weight Watchers I would be way over on my points, and on Alli, it would appear that I am way under for fat grams (26 for the whole day).  Thoughts?

    Kind regards,

    Christie

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

I am trying Alli in conjunction with Medifast. Has anyone tried that? I don't know if I can do both but since I've had limited success with Medifast, I thought I would increase my odds of success and do both. Medifast has limited fat per meal. Usually somewhere between 0-2.5grams of fat per meal. I eat 5 times a day and have one green meal that is generally has more fat in it than the Medifast packets, somewhere around 10-20 grams depending on my choice of lean meats. Obviously with the Alli side affects occuring when I approach 19 grams, I will be sticking to leaner meats that keep me under 19 grams. I'm trying to lose 50+ pounds but plan on doing it the right way, slowly but steadily. Any ideas?

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

    Hello!

I have a question.  I read on a the message boards that if you consume less than 5 grams of fat in a meal that you DON'T have to take a pill with that meal??  My breakfasts usually are only about 5 grams of fat.  I just wanted to double check this to see if it is FACT or FICTION?

    Thank you.

    Kam

Yes, that's a fact!  Keep in mind that it shouldn't be more than one meal per day where the capsule is skipped.

Also, FYI,  you can always start a new thread when you have a question.

Re: ***READ FIRST - Why you need to reach your fat grams

Does Alli work on all parts of the fat?  Total fat is broken down for ex: saturated fats.  Just curious since I need to watch the bad fats and try not to have them at all which makes it tough with food products.

Yes, alli works on ALL fat.  It can't discern between types of fat.  So 30% of the fat in the meal in which the capsule is taken will be blocked.
