Tamales carry alot of fat and calories because of the ingredients that go into them.  The mix is made of ma se ca and lard.  The lard is the worst part.  You use the same amount of lard that you do of ma se ca.  Each tamale would contain around 350-400 calories and around 9-10 grams of fat.

Tha only reason I know this is because I make alot of homemade mexican foods.  My husband is mexican and tamales are one of my specialties.  If you want, I could get you some really good mexican food recipies that are low calorie and low fat.

    Re: mexican foods

I recently moved from  California to Florida ( Miami), and I have been tring to fond good  masa for tamales. I use to buy it already prepared at the tortilla places over there. I don't really kow how to prepared it  I have an idea, but I don't want to mess up. Can somene help me please with a good regular recipie. Mexican food is not so good over here and my family is really craving tamales. by the way, I have been in the program since the end of June and so far I have lost 35lbs. I love it, my reward will be a couple of tamales for Christmas.

OregonA, I will also love the low fat low cal mexican recepies.

     Regards from Florida,
