Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi my name is Jan and I had used Alli about a year ago and it worked for me but I got lazy and went back to my old habits. I am starting over again but I am afraid of failure. I am curious how you all work it out? I work 10 hour shifts and I don't get home until after 6:30 pm. I live alone and I have 2 dogs that when I get home I take for a walk which is usually about an hour. So by the time I walk the dogs, feed them and think about fixing dinner it is 7:30! And in the hot summer months the last thing I want to do is bake/cook over hot stove. And other times I am just too tired to go about fixing a meal. Before starting the Alli plan again, I have been living off of frozen dinners, spaghetti/pasta, or eating out. How do you all do it? Is it more of a mind-set and commitment? It just seems I am setting myself up for failure. Does that make sense? Please give me some feedback on how to beat this vicious cycle!

Hi! My name is Taryn. I am a 22 years old and weight 221 as of today my first weigh-in. I started off at 226. I am hoping to lose about 70-80. My husband in currently deployed to Afghanistan and I hope to look like I did before I had our son. I know it’s a LONG way to go... but hopefully I can do it. I am tired of being out of shape and overweight. But I am already having trouble staying motivated.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi, I thought I would say hello. My name is Beth and I am 24. I have been pregnant 18 out of 24 months. My youngest son is two months and my oldest 15. My husband is currently in Iraq. And I want to look like I did before kids too LOL. I weighed 200 before we got married and now I weigh 300. Its so hard I have no me time. I have not even got the alli yet. I am still deciding. Does it really help? Are the treatment effects that bad? Do you eat a set number of calories? Not real sure how it works and I would appreciate anything you could tell me. Maybe we could be weight loss buddies as corny as it sounds. It may help with motivation.  Hope to talk to you soon Beth

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi Beth

I was moved by your post. I lost my weigh with Alli and enjoyed 2 years at my goal weight. In April 2009, I suffered a serious medical emergency that cause me to gain back my weight. So here I am renewing my commitment to my self by leading myself back on the road to a healthier life style. However, I am facing the demons that I thought I had overcome as low self esteem, stress, and self sabotage, so that in mind I would love to have a bubby- smile to share the struggle. I will be uploading a vedio ASAP

    Wishing you great success

    Beth,

I would love to be your weight loss buddy! lol

So far I have lost 5 lbs. I have had Alli for about 3 weeks, but I only just started a little over a week ago. So I am pretty happy with it already, hopefully I continue to drop the weight. Yes there is a set number of calories, but it starts off pretty realistic for our body size. The treatment effects are not bad, but you can avoid them if you follow your program. Since I am still pretty new at this too, I am still learning also. Well I hope to hear from you soon! Good luck!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

    Hello Everyone,

Well I think this is the thread that I need to follow. I am here to lose 50-55 myself.. When I met my hubby 6 years ago I was 167 and wanting to be 155.. (I am 5 5) well I never made it.. I made it to up to 198 then lost some(with weight watchers) and was at 171.. then I went out of control again and now I am 208.. I too carry my weight very well and many people do not beleive me when they find out how much I weigh.. But I know it is there!

I just started Alli on Tuesday and my goal weight is 150-155... This time I am reminding myself everyday that this is NOT a diet.. it is a lifestyle.. So often I go on DIETS and then put it all back on.. Not this time.. I have been tempted to get on the scale all day and see if a few days has done anything for me, but I will wait until my checkin date and be back with the results..

Good luck to all... Together we can!

     ~Monica

    Non-serious AE

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Thank you for your interest in the alli program and your involvement in the community message board. alli is different because it is the only FDA-approved OTC weight loss aid. It also works in the digestive tract, does not enter the bloodstream or interact with your heart or brain. You may be experiencing your noted effects as your body adjusts to a reduced-calorie diet or increased physical activity. Make sure to eat your recommended allowance of calories throughout the day, stay hydrated and increase your physically activity level gradually. If effects continue, please see your healthcare professional.

I think this guy is stuck.  Someone needs to give him a shove.  Funny at first, but now I've seen this post 10 times this week.  And none of the posts were related to the auto response.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

    Hi Beth,

I started alli a couple of weeks ago.  I also weighed 200, or, just under 200 when I got married a little over two years ago, and, I would like to lose the 25 pounds I gained in those two years.  After that I would love to lose the 25 pounds I gained in the two years between meeting and marrying my husband.

The alli *DEFINITELY* helps.  It's not just the extra 150 calories of pure fat that the alli eliminates every day.  It's that by being mindful of what you're eating and trying to stick to a certain amount of fat per meal, you are more successful than without alli because with the alli, there is built-in accountability because of the treatment effects.  Plus, you are more motivated because you invested money into buying the pills.  The online support is really amazing, too, and, it's made a huge difference for me.  I love the online tools, too, like the meal planner and the fitness log.  The studies are there that prove it.  People lose 50% more weight with alli than without it.  Again, it's not just the fat calories eliminated by alli but also the fact that the plan itself keeps you more motivated and committed to diet and, for me, exercise, too.

The treatment effects have not been bad for me.  I have only had a bad reaction twice.  Once I think I ate my lunch and my dinner too close together.  So, maybe it was too many fat grams at once in my body.  And, more recently, I had not counted the fat in ground sirloin accurately.  I had assumed that the cooked weight was less than the starting weight, but, with the recipe I used, I didn't drain off any fat or blot any fat or anything, so, the cooked weight should have been the same, for purposes of calories and fat.  So, I underestimated the fat and calories.  I must have had too much fat.  My treatment effects have been limited to diarrhea about an hour after the meal with too much fat, and, the treatment effects have never lasted a whole day.  The time with the ground sirloin, though, I wasn't able to work much because I felt too weak and had to visit the bathroom two times within a few hours.  That time I think I may have actually seen fat floating in the toilet bowl.  I had not ever seen it before.  I eat enough stuff that the fat just gets eliminated along with the rest of my body's waste, not separate as fat floating in the toilet bowl.  Anyway, I've not had any problems with not being able to control my BMs or with any accidents or stains, although I've heard that other people have had that happen to them.

I do eat a set number of calories.  I aim for between 1600 to 1700 per day and 17 grams of fat in each meal.  I also exercise an hour a day with my Wii Fit.

    Good luck!

    Olga
