    Re: slim fast

I've never signed into this board before or any message board for that matter. I wanted to see if there were customers that showed some progress. I looked when Alli first came out. I have lost 15 very stubborn pounds. I cannot believe it, but I think I have finally hit the right combination of protein/fat/fiber/fruit/vegs etc. I love to eat out and I can... and I do, usually eating whatever I want just not as much. The shakes are a great break for me but I don't use them everyday. I add ice to the blender so I can only enjoy them at night for dinner or on the weekend. The ice makes it have some texture like a Blizzard from DQ. The SlimFast protein bars chocolate chip granola (220 cals and ~10-14 grams of protein) with my coffee-is my morning staple! It keeps me satisfied until lunch. Then I eat something small but tasty for lunch from where ever or a Lean Cuisine (or the like) with a piece of fruit, then I eat a peanut butter crunch slim fast snack bar in the afternoon (it taste just like a Butterfinger) and then if I was good at lunch I eat a small dinner of whatever my husband is having. If for some reason I ate something more than I should have at lunch I flip flop the Lean Cuisine dinner for supper. I try not to eat after 7:30p.m. I go to bed with a tad of hunger and I have lost 15 pounds in about a month and 1/2 with Alli. It's great, I don't have the treatment affects. Only in the beginning when I would eat something really fattening. I lost nothing at first, I have been on this for about 2 months and it took awhile to click I guess becuase now it is working. I hope you will share that "delay" in weight loss with others you may talk to on this board-becuase the key is to hang in there, at least for me. Good Luck!

    Re: slim fast

I'm glad to read your message - today is my first day (no "treatment affects") yeaa (!) and I really wondered how the progress might go - if I don't see results I get discouraged and now I know that I should just hang in there and give it a chance if I dont see any changes right away.

I was thinking about doing the slimfast thing but - geez I really dont wanna give my money to anymore "diet" things its exspensive to lose weight - I'm never getting fat again once I lose the fat I got!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: slim fast

It is definitely an investment to lose weight and keep it off! I would really only suggest slimfast if convenience was the biggest priority for you. I'm not a morning person, so I grab one and run out the door in the morning and that works for me. But there are tons of alternatives out there that don't have the price tag associated with them. Plus, I think some may help you stay full longer with a similar amount of calories/fat.  Nevertheless, the slimfast website has a lot of really good lunch and dinner recipes that I have incorporated into my usual rotation. If you do decide to try the slimfast diet, the cheapest option (that I have learned from this post!) is to go with the powders which I found at sam's club and amazon.com. It does require a second of prep, but significantly cheaper and w/o any metallic taste!

Find some food choices that you enjoy and can stick to for the long haul and I think you will be very successful. Good Luck!

    Re: slim fast

I use GNC's Lean Shake in the morning. Its like a slim fast shake. It comes in a 2lb powder form canister. Just 8 oz of water and two scoops of the powder and you have a shake. Its only 2 grams of fat per shake. And it offers a good variety of fiber, calcium, and other vitamins. I do the shakes in the morning because I don't have time whatsoever to cook breakfast. It can last you pretty long if you only do one shake a day. If you do two shakes a day it will last 2 weeks. You can order it online or get it from any GNC store. Its about $25 per 2lb canister. Hope this helps!

They high protein snack bars are yummy.

I think they fit into the Alli plan. Just make sure if you eat them with a meal, you round them out to meet your calories.

I have drank the Slim Fast Oltima shakes. Those have worked in the past for me. Plus they tasted good. I also liked the snack bars.

This is a good reminder - to use the bars to round out a meal; or to add some other things if you plan the Bars as the main part of a light meal.  This was in an earlier part of the thread and is really important.

There's lots of flexibility in the alli Program and it's really important to have the recommended amount of calories and fat for best results with alli.

    Thanks again for the reminder!
