    I am just starting Alli

I started watching what I eat this past weekend to prepare for starting the Alli pills tomorrow.  I currently weigh 161 and hope to be able to loose at least 40 pounds.

I am really nervous about starting my first pills tomorrow.  I am so afraid I am going to eat something wrong.  I know nothing about what is good fat and like someone pointed out Alli doesn't care; fat is fat.  This scares me.

I have been reading alot of the posts (especially about Subway) I love subway...and I notice how almost everyone makes sure to have the total 15g fat per meal.  Some people have made  a point to say how they added baked chips so they got the full 15g fat.  I was surprised because I thought if I ate less than the 15g fat per meal this was really good.  Am I wrong?

Re: I am just starting Alli

Hi, Remember that fat is an important part of nutrition. Your body uses it for fuel and cell growth. Fat is only bad in the wrong forms and in excessive amounts. Don't try going on a virtually fat-free diet just because you're starting alli. And don't be afraid of the pills. I was nervous when I began too, but by reading labels, looking up fat content (the Internet is a lifesaver here) and keeping my fat intake close to my goals I've lost weight and I've had NO treatment effects at all. The most important piece of advice I can give is to fill out your food journal EVERY day for at least the first two weeks. I was surprise to learn how many hidden calories and fat grams I was consuming without even being aware. The journal has really helped me figure out where I need to watch out and has helped me make healthier choices. I lost 12 pounds my first month on the program and have not had to starve myself, deprive myself or go fat free. It's important to lose weight slowly (it stays off longer). Just try to follow the advice in the program and don't let little slips get you down. Good luck!

Re: I am just starting Alli

Thanks for the advice and encouragement.  I have been keeping a food diary and you are right it does help.  My biggest concern is that I don't eat enough to get the full 15g fat per meal.  I am trying but it is hard especially when it comes to breakfast.  I do fine other than at breakfast cause I usually only eat cereal and some fruit and that isn't 15 g fat.  Lunch and dinner I make sure to have my full 15g fat or at least really close.  I'm really excited about starting Alli now since I have gone one day and had no tretment effects I'm not so scared.

Congrataulations on loosing 12 pounds.  I can't wait unitl I can say that.  Best of luck and thanks again for the advice and encouragement.
