    Re: I need FIBER!!!!

I don't know about meals with fiber, but I drink a 16oz glass of water with a heaping tablespoon of fibersure (or benefiber...whichever is on sale) after both lunch and dinner. That way I up my water inteake AND get my recommended daily fiber!

Hi, I have never had weight issues until recently, and I attribute it to age as the metabolism slows. I don't eat alot of fattening foods, so I haven't had the bad side effects that some are experiencing.

    Re: I need FIBER!!!!

I'm big on fiber and I easily get 35-50g/day.  Add a fiber bar to your breakfast, the best are Gnu Bars (trader joe's, whole foods) followed by Fiber One.  That'll get you 9-12g.  At lunch, I don't eat bread, I use flatouts which have 9-12 fibers.  That gets you half way there without trying at all!  After that, use any receipe that has beans in it (soups are a great way to get more beans).  You can also spinkle flax seed in your food (like yogurt) or mix flax with water and use it as an egg substitute while baking.  Just be prepared to be uncomfortable for a few weeks after drastically increasing your fiber, it does wear off!

Wow, I thought I was the only one who went up to 50g a day!  I have been eating the gnu bars for quite a while, had them on auto ship for a while.  I use the Mission carb balance tortillas which have 11-21g of fiber depending on which size.  Where do you get the flatouts?  Please pass on any other products you find, I am always on the lookout!

    Re: I need FIBER!!!!

I use Fibersure. It's a clear, gritless, tasteless fiber additive that you can mix in anything from drinks to your cake mix. It's great.  I can't seem to get enough fiber on my own, so it really helps.

Not for dinner, but Quaker just came out with a new high fiber instant oatmeal that has 10 grams of fiber per serving. tastes great. I got it at Albertson's.

    Re: I need FIBER!!!!

Hi Jessie, I meant to reply with some ideas for dinner but didn't get around to it.

    1.  Adding any dry beans to your meal such as Pinto, black beans, navy, ect.. also lentils.

    2.  Make burritos with the Fat free refried beans and low carb tortillas that are packed with fiber.

    3.  Make some High Fiber croutons from high fiber bread (there is now Double fiber out) and put it on your salad.  Just spray with pam and sprinkle on some spices, cook on the top of the stove until crisp or they can go in the oven.

    4.  Sweet potatoes are great, melt some reduced fat margarine and add cinnamon and splenda, yum.

    5.  Barilla noodles and spaghetti are high fiber and tastes just like regular.  I use them in several recipes including of course spaghetti, cold crab salad made with imitation crab meat.  I have also opened a box of hamburger helper and replaced the noodles in the box with them and used 93% FF ground beef.

    6.  Low carb and whole wheat pitas stuffed are good too.  I like Josephs low carb the best, I have a recipe to make stuffed low fat pizza that is awesome.

Hope some of this helps, I just get creative.

    Re: I need FIBER!!!!

I was in the same boat. So what we started to do (my hubby and I) was I bought a container of Benefiber, we keep it on the counter and put some in our iced tea (or whatever we are drinking) twice a day. Its really helped and just having it near by makes us remember to use it. Its really helped, plus we have the choice to mix in to whatever we want. No grittyness at all.
