    Omlette in a bag

I know you are thinking How can you make an omlette in a bag? I thought the same thing until a few years ago when I attended a Camping weekend for my son's boy scout troop. it was mother's day weekend in 06 and the boys made us breakfast omlette in a bag was one of the items this is what you will need

    1 zip lock storage bag

1/2 or 1 Cup of Egg Beaters or a regular egg or egg whites

Any Filling you would like Low fat

Medium sized pot filled with water

Put the egg beaters in a zip lock bag

add whatever you would like to your omlette in a bag or you can have it plain

add Light Salt or Mrs. Dash, Pepper

Before you close the bag be sure all the air is out before you close it

Place the bag in boiling water boil  for 3 min or until eggs are firm (be sure the top of the bag is not hanging out of the pot or it will melt)

Take the bag out let it cool for 1 min

Unzip the bag place the omlette on your plate

Garnish with any fruit you like

    Enjoy

Thanks for the idea. I will have to try it ! Sounds good because you dont have to worry about using oil or even oil spray to cook.

    Re: Omlette in a bag

    Morning,

Last year we went camping at the beach and my girlfriend did this omlette in a bag and I thought she was nuts.  It was so gooooood and much healther than the bacon grease in the camping pan... Everyone needs to try this.  Enjoy many and lots of different omlette's.. Linda

    Re: Omlette in a bag

Wow I totally forgot about these. When I went to Michigan to visit friends they showed me how to make these. They made a breakfast buffet setting out different things to add to the omlet bag along with fruits and different breads for toast etc. This would make a great idea for a party idea and to be able to stick with your plan too. Thanks for sharing this and reminding me about making these.

    Re: Omlette in a bag

Wow, thank you, Shelly.  I was just about to try this.  Great idea, bad "utensils".

I'm a Food Network junkie and have been seeing popular chefs use sous vide methods for just about anything.  Bathing in hot water in a sealed bag is said to do wonders for many foods.  So off I go to find safe boilable bags!  I might just add a pressure cooker to the shopping list.

    Thank you!
