Be encouraged, Christina.  That was one slip up, not everyday, not every meal.  You can do it!  Don't give up!

Pizza is not taboo on Alli! You just need to fit it into the plan and adjust your calorie/fat grams accordingly.

Don't deprive yourself. This is not a diet, it is a new healthy lifestyle.

Use the nutrition log to keep track of your calorie/fat intake and weigh and measure your foods.

You CAN do this! Good luck on your journey to a new, healthy lifestyle!

I have fallen in love with Schlotzsky's vegetarian pizza!  It's wonderful!  About 551 calories and 9 grams of fat.  It's a personal pan size pizza, so it satisfies my craving for pizza.

I know how you feel. My son had fries from McDonalds today and all I want to do is eat them. I tried Alli about 6 months ago but could not pass up the yummy fat foods so I quit. But now I am ready, I started Alli 3 days ago and I have been exercising. When I get a craving for stuff like that I just tell myself I have at so much of that in my life that I dont need to eat any more.

    You can do it.

Re: so mad i have no willpower :(

thats awesome! I was the same way too...trying to determin how 3 slices of pizza would fit into my meal plan...LOL -- wishful thinking on my part i guess.... but really, as mentioned before you dont need to CUT everything out...its moderation...instead of 2 slices of pan...try a thin crust...or 1 slice and some veggies to fill up on...eventually, as will all cutting back, your body will get used to the portions and in the end you'll end up looking at those 2 slices that would have dissappeared before and wonder WHY you'd even consider them...

I'm a bread junkie...always eating slices -2 or three pcs of toast @ breakfast, the occasional warm tortilla with butter...or vying for my daughters pizza crust! But after cutting back i'll have maybe 2 small portions a day...sometimes 1...and honestly...i dont miss it. When i've been tempted i look at a few things...

#1 - the money i spent buying Alli...- really, is that pc of bread WORTH the investment O_o

#2 - the inner torment i'll give myself for giving in...

#3 - the outter torment i'll give those AROUND me for giving in...

and finally #4 - the "side effects" my backside will feel for giving in - lol

in the end....it aint worth it ;)

    stay strong!

This post ought to be re-titled "Pizza" :-)  I love Pizza too.  Who doesn't?  When you mentioned liking to have a warm tortilla, it made me think why not make a pizza out of that?  Toast it on a sheet pan.  Add low/no sodium tomato sauce, low fat shredded cheese, blanched veggies of your choice, garlic, oregano, basil.  Pop it under the broiler and voila!

    Re: I can,t even get started :(

    Dear peggy2002z,

I used to be anti-food journaling too.  But now I'm religious about it.  Use alli's journaling tool.  I started journaling a few weeks before starting alli, so I use everydayhealth.com.  It's free.  One of the greatest things about it is that I can plan my meals and snacks for the entire day.  The days that I don't plan (which are few and far between), I usually mess up.

You have to ask yourself how bad do you want to change your life and lose the weight.  This is more than just reducing the numbers on the scale; it's a whole new way of life.  You and I have to be committed to change, regardless of what anyone else says.  A few days before I started alli, I cleaned out my pantry and freezer with all the stuff I knew wasn't good for me.  I ended up with 3 bags full to the brim.  I gave the food away to people in my church whom I knew needed some food.  They were blessed.  I removed the temptations.  That was a win/win for everyone.

Be encouraged.  You can do it.  You just need enough courage to make it through today.  Don't worry about tomorrow, and yesterday is already past.  All you need is victory for today.

    Re: I can,t even get started :(

i'm in a lil trouble too, i had my first weigh in and i thought i was doing fairly well until i saw the scales. 1pound. i guess i had higher expectations but im trying to change my attitude and go slow and im trying to find that inner strength to help. its hard, so hard to change..i am a procrastinator so trying to plan meals is a challenge for me. my family are meat and potato people and it seems that the choices are limited for me since im the primary meal preparer in the family. any suggestions for me. thanks

    Re: I can,t even get started :(

    Tammy,

Just change the meat and potatoes to boneless, skinless chicken breast or a turkey chop and a boiled sweet potato with cinnamon sprinkled on top and a little splenda if you want it sweeter.  You'll still have your "meat and potatoes" and little or no fat and reduced calories.  I think I've finally figured it out....it's all about making small changes in order to get big results.  For example, a couple of years ago I decided to switch to the boneless, skinless chicken breasts rather than the legs and thighs with the skin.  (Fat or no fat, the skin is good...at least it was back then.)  I knew that the only way I could totally avoid the temptation of eating the fatty skin was to just buy the chicken without the skin already.  Yeah, I know that sounds like a no brainer, but it has worked.  Now the rare times I eat chicken with the skin on it -- such as fried chicken -- the skin tastes totally weird to me.

Does you and your family like spaghetti?  Switch to whole wheat spaghetti.  You have to cook it a few minutes longer than the regular white stuff.  If you make your own sauce, switch to lean ground turkey and ground lean turkey sausage.  By the time you add the onions, green peppers, spices, and the sauce, your family will not be able to taste the difference.  Trust me.  I've tried on my husband and a couple of his army buddies.  They didn't know, and I didn't tell them.  They raved about it!  I finally told my husband, but by then he was already hooked.

Oh yeah, one other thing.  Switch to egg whites.  I don't buy egg beaters anymore because they are so expensive.  My pastor's wife told me about an egg separator -- a plastic thing that looks like a ladle -- that costs about $1 to $2 at Walmart.  Add a little shredded cheese for taste and color, and your family won't know the difference.  Even when baking a cake, use eggs whites.  I usually use one extra egg white than the recipes calls for in regular eggs.

And when you make the changes, don't tell your family until after they have ranted and raved about how good the meal is.  You will instantly gain their support.

Finally, sometime next week I'm going to splurge and have cherry cheesecake.  The cherry pie filling is fat free.  The cream cheese if fat free.  I'll use egg whites and splenda instead of sugar.  I even bought a package of mini graham cracker pie shells to help me with portion control.

Sorry this was so long, but I hope it helped.  Take care.  Be encouraged.  One pound lost is one pound less.  As the Chinese proverb goes, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."
