    Side effects

Is gas a known side effect?  If so do regular over the counter gas meds work and are they okay?

    Re: Side effects

Hello. Gas may be associated with alli - especially if you eat more fat. Actually, gas may occur anytime you change your diet or add a new medication. It could be caused by your diet - hopefully you have increased the fiber in your diet which could lead to gas. If you are having gas with oily spotting, that could be due to eating too much fat.

You can try an over-the-counter product like simethicone (as found in Gas-X) to help - it is OK to take on alli. Also, if you are eating high fiber foods like beans or cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower, a product such as Beano may help prevent the gas from forming.

    Hope this helps!

    Best of health!

    Re: Side effects

     Hello.

Speaking of side effects, are sinus infections or head colds one of the side effects of Alli?  I have been on Alli for just about 2 weeks and I came down with a terrible head cold. I stopped using Alli and in 2 days my cold was gone and I was back to normal. I am afraid to start Alli incase it was a side effect. Someone told me that flu like symptoms and head colds were a known side effect of Alli.

    Thank you for your time.

    Re: Side effects

    Hi Renee' ,

I am happy to hear that yo are feeling better.  An adverse effect of Alli is flu-like symptoms, which would also include fever, bodyache, and chills and would be cause to discontinue use of the product.  It is not associated with an increase in sinus infections or headcolds, this may have been a coincidence. Are you prone to sinus infections or allergies?

    Hope this helps.
