    Depression and loss of appetite

     Hello There

I have been taking alli for a few months now, I stopped taking it a few weeks ago as I noticed I lost my appetite, had trouble sleeping, anxious, nervouse stomach, racing heart,. depression,. i am very healthy I have no problems with my health. I noticed the first time I took alli, that I had a hard time sleeping I woke up very early, I usually sleep in and my best sleep is in the early morning between 5-8 am. And its been like that ever since. I am wondering if alli is not for me? I have been off alli for a few weeks now and still experiencing the symptoms but not as bad, I hope it gets better. As I have never been depressed or lost my appetite before. I am still eating but I have to force myself to eat. I am also taking alot of vitimains to get better.

hope you can shed some light

    Thanks

    Maria

Re: Depression and loss of appetite

    Hi Maria,

The active ingredient in alli is orlistat which works by inhibiting the fat digesting enzyme lipase.  It is minimally absorbed by the body and has no systemic effect which means it does not affect the central nervous system, the heart or the brain. Alli has no lasting residual effect once it has been discontinued. The symptoms you are describing are not associated with all and are not something that will develop after months of use.

What kind of vitamins are you taking?  Vitamins are supplements, they will not cure you. Some formulations contain herbs and other ingredients that are high energy which can affect the body (insomnia, palpitations, upset stomach).

Even though the symptoms have gotten better, they are still there and should be checked out by a physician.

Your health is of utmost concern.
