    Other Wii Options

Hi everyone!  I'm new here and very hopeful about getting healthier and seeing results.  I've read posts where people love Wii Fit, and I'm jealous that you can find them! I look forward to finding one *someday* but in the meantime I just recently found a game you can download from WiiWare called Helix that I absolutely love! I was wondering if anyone else had tried it and if you've seen results at all.  We just downloaded it yesterday and I've had a chance to work with it twice now and my arms are feeling the burn!

    Re: Other Wii Options

I got my wiifit yesterday - seller on Amazon.

Kind of disappointed that my Wii Fit age is only 2 years under my real age.  I thought I was more "fit" then that.  I spent about 30 minutes going thru the stuff yesterday and the time just flew by.

Just another tool in my arsenal - treadmill, multi station gym, ellipitcal and living in the mountains where every walk involves a hill.

    Re: Other Wii Options

I haven't seen the Helix game but I'll take a look at it. Its always fun to have new games for the Wii. :)

Karen, you will love the Fit! It definitely doesn't get boring, even after having it for 6 months. I still find some of the games challenging.

Jillian Michael's new game for the Wii is definitely challenging and the focus is more cardio. I did the rowing the other day and really felt it in my shoulders. The controls aren't as easy as the Wii Fit but its worth the challenge.

    Re: Other Wii Options

I bought the Jillian game, started with the jogging but got to the crossroads and couldn't figure out how to get past that, my mii just stopped.  I think I'm supposed to use the arrows on the controller.

Yes, use the arrows to pick which direction you want to go. There is one that tells you what it is and then the ? one which is a random suprise.

    Re: Other Wii Options

I'm finally getting the hang of the Jillian game. Its quite the workout. Using the combo of Wii Fit and Jillian, I've lost more inches and definitely have more strength. My son and I were having a pushing match and he had to pick me up to move me. lol

I just ordered My Fitness Coach to add some other types of exercises. It has over 400 exercises and asks you what kind of home equipment you have so it can tailor the workouts to what you have. I should get it in the next week so I'll have time to use it before school starts again.

    Re: Other Wii Options

Hey, I got My Fitness Coach yesterday and WOW what a workout. It really is like having a tailor-made exercise video. I entered everything in to the profile, went through the fitness testing and came out with a pretty good workout. The first one I did had me slightly sore after 15 minutes. I loved being able to add in my hand weights. :) Once I get a better exercise ball, I'll add that in too. I'm going to try doing it again today and target a couple different areas. The workouts focus on different areas - yoga, cardio, upper body, core, lower body and flexibility. Oh, and after each workout it tells you how many calories you burned for that particular workout!

I think I'm set for exercises for a while. I'll rotate between Wii Fit, Jillian Michaels and My Fitness Coach. :)

    Re: Other Wii Options

I was hoping that hubby was gonna get me wii fit for christmas, but of course he didn't (he tries....but he is horrible at buying gifts), and now I am having troubles finding one!  For a decent price that is!  But I'll have to check out those other games noted here in the mean time.  :)

    Re: Other Wii Options

Keri, its good to try the other games so you have a well rounded exercise routine. I think you will really like My Fitness Coach. It has a good variety of exercises. During the workout it will ask how you feel about each segment. If its too easy it will adjust the workout to increase the intensity the next time you exercise that area. Jillian's game is also good. Lots of cardio and you can adjust the intensity of your workouts.

Hope you can find a Fit, too. :) It makes exercise so fun that you can forget your exercising.

    Re: Other Wii Options

With the wii fit you are stopping after every exercise, with the My Fitness Coach she keeps you going for whatever workout length you've picked.  My only complaint is lets say I do the core exercises then decide I want to do upper body I have to do another warmup.  "She" should know I'm already warm.  But it is challenging and it does change up the workout which is nice.

    Re: Other Wii Options

Check out walmart they are selling them for 89.00 and I have to tell you it is the greatest workout tool I have even when Im just goofing off with my daughters playing tennis im getting a workout because they are very competitive and refuse to lose.  My favorite excercise is the advanced step areobics it took me a while to get the steps down but im becoming a pro its reallyfun and u can change the length of the time and make it harder.  Ijust ordered Jillian and cant wait for it to come so I can alternate my weigh in for two week totals is tomorrow wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Other Wii Options

I actually got mine from GameStop about a month before Christmas.  They should have some more in now, but if not, then you can ask to be put on the waiting list for it.  Sometimes they have special package deals available too.
