    Mon

Dee - I agree that poor-quality sleep interferes with weight loss.  My theory is that anything we can do to protect our sleep quality is a plus for helping with weight loss.  There's a number of interesting articles on the internet about sleep deprivation and weight gain.

Today, I got to the gym and did 35 min of cardio and an upper body strength training workout.  I got to the grocery store and I now have a variety of low-cal healthy foods on hand.  Maintained food intake at (1420/53) 1420 cal & 53 fats.  Work was exhausting and tonight I hope to get to bed early! - Jane

    Re: Mon

Did 4.3 miles in 48 minutes yesterday on the treadmill.

I've noticed that some days I can breeze through my work out.  Treadmill or elliptical are easy and the weights seem "light"

Other times it seems a struggle to move  or lift.

    Anyone else?

They had a show on Discovery or something where they tracked Olympic weightlifters who said that sometimes the weights seem to move on their own so I guess it's just not a weird thing on my part.

    Tuesday...

Well, I weighed in today since I slept all night long normally and I am down 1 lbs....better than nothing.  I know I sleep so much better when I sleep at night versus during the day, BUT what do you do.  You keep on working nights because it fits your family life better, but my husband hates it.  Anyway, today I did 40 minutes of cardio and my son even joined in with me.  It was actually very fun!  :)

Tomorrow I will have to use an off day because I have a mandatory meeting in the morning then I have to sleep some and get up and go to class then right back to work.

Everyone have a wonderful day today and tomorrow!  Keep on eating right and exercising!  :)  I'm off to take a nap!

    Re: Tuesday...

Karen - So far, the weights haven't moved for me by themselves but for sure some days workouts are easier than other days.

Dee - Have you tried using shades to make your room as dark as possible?  Even those of us who sleep at night are suppose to turn those "blue light" clocks away from us because they allegedly interfere with our sleep patterns.

i stuck to my eating plan today (1280/59) and some lower body strength training and 30 minutes elliptical plus 5 min stair-stepper.

    Wed and Thurs

I'm surprised no one else has posted here since I posted on Tuesday.  On Wed, I did well on nutrition 1250/55 but did no strength training or cardio.  Today I did well on nutrition, 1360/29 (surprisingly low fat for me!!), did a 10 min warm up on the elliptical and did a lower-body strength training workout.  I hope everyone else is having a good week! - Jane

    Re: Wed and Thurs

Hi Jane!  Yes, I have those room darkening blinds, BUT it still isn't dark like at night, BUT it sure helps.  I also have one of those eye patches with beads in it that you can warm in the microwave and it has a touch of lavendar.  It is soothing on the eyes and helps you relax.  I haven't been able to post over the past two days because I've been working, and then running with the kids with their activities.  Oh, plus I was in the dentist chair twice this week!!!  :(  Anyway, today I hope to get some exercise in.  I haven't been too good on the diet either, so two bad days time to get back on track!  I guess that is why I am here!

    Have a wonderful week!

    Saturday

Today I did 30 min of cardio and 5 minutes of abs.  Tonight we are going out to eat for our anniversary, so hopefully they have good healthy food choices, but it is a very elite restaurant so I'm sure they will.  It is up to me to make those right choices. :)

    Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

    Re: Saturday

Today I took the day off from the gym and my husband and I took a very nice 50 minute walk.  I also tromped all over one of those very large warehouse stores and made a trip to the grocery store for a large grocery order.  My calories and fats for the day are 1160/67 so my nutrition is in pretty good shape, too.

Dee - Congrats on the anniversary!! How many years? Hope you had a lovely evening celebrating!

    Re: Saturday

It was a LOVELY evening.  The restaurant was beautiful, the food was wonderful (I DID not eat healthy). I had this steak with cream sauce and like a pepper on the outside, lobster brisk soup and my husband order some potatoes that were fried with onions.  They were all so wonderful.  I had some kind of pineapple drink, it was on the rocks and different (I really never drink).  They gave us free dessert since it was our anniversary so what did I choose....cheesecake, but I ate half.  Anyway, I got  up from the table and our waiter folded my napkin and when I came back and used it there was a jewelry box hiding under it and my husband got me an anniversary band with 5 diamonds (5 years).  it was very special, I was not expecting it at all.  :)  I"ll report later on my exercise.  We have a few things we need to do today!  Have a wonderful day!

    Sunday

I skipped the gym (the gym is near the office and only open until 3:00 PM on Sundays, so I have limited time to get down there plus the extra drive to my office on the weekend is really a pain.  Instead, I walked for about 45 minutes; not great cardio because my balance is poor so I can't really walk that fast.  For nutrition, I had 1270/56.  I've been consistent for over a week so I hope to see results on the scale.

Dee - Congrats again on the anniversary.  Your evening and your gift sound so nice.  Maybe that jewelry box under the napkin is somewhere in the Married Guy's Training Manual??? My husband gave me a necklace the same way on our 35 anniversary!

    Re: Sunday

Yesterday with doing all of our errands I did not get to officially exercise, but with all of the walking it had to count for something.  I stepped on the scale yesterday, and have maintained which I thought I would have gained.  I'm sure glad I did not gain.  I need to get some sleep today since I have to work the next two nights.  After I get up I plan to exercise (I'll post later on what I do).  Have a good week, and remember healthy choices during Thankgsiving.  :)

    Nighty Night!

    Monday

Well, I was hoping to get more exercise done today, but as soon as the kids get home they keep asking for stuff.  I did 20 minutes of Pilates today.
