    Back on the Alli Bandwagon

Well I decided enough is enough and am going back with Alli. Started it back early in 2007 for a month and lost ten pounds... but then I became unmotivated and stopped. Even bought a nice elliptical that I just used for that month. Gained all the weight back, and then some, so time to get serious. Going to eat right, work out for at least 60 minutes a week on the elliptical, and do some light weight lifting.

I'm 20, weigh a biscuit under 290 pounds, and would like to get below 250 before my birthday in July.

My biggest challenge is that I'm a traveling salesman and spend a good deal of time on the road. Going to do my best to overcome this!

Looking forward to the challenge and will definitely use the boards more often to read what works for others and get encouragement.

    Thanks for listening.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

I know exactly how you feel about the motivation RLS, I have problems with that too.  One thing that keeps me going though is the fact that all of my friends support my decision, and are only a phone call away....

Also, Like you I would love to look good for my birthday which is in april so I better keep on moving..

good luck, and hang in there.  PM me if you need anyone to talk to.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

    Hey RLS,

Just curious to see how things are going. I started the first of the year and have been on my elliptical machine, i saw that you have one too and were setting a goal of 60 minutes a week. after almost my second week i am up to 35 minutes non stop and some light weight work. Hope your doing well in your lifestyle change. I keep telling myself this is what it is and it is not a diet. Keep the samall goal in mind not the final goal. good luck and stick with it

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

Good on you RLS. Always focus on small goals. Bigger goals are too hard to see from the starting line.  Have you seen the view of a football field from the 1 yard line? Its massive. Think of it like that. Go for the first down...10 yards. Then go on. and on, and on. Eventually you will see the goal in sight.  That is how I am looking at it. One down at a time.

As for the traveling, get a book called Eat this, Not that. Its from Rodale publishing (Mens Health Magazine). It shows calorie and fat counts of a ton of foods, from fast foods to grocery items.  Look on Amazon for it maybe.  I just got it the other day and it seems awesome.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

    Thanks for the replies.

So far, have lost 5 pounds. 2 pounds the first week, 3 pounds last week. Been sticking to the program every day so far, except a couple of cheats the past Sundays. Hopefully I can keep up the 2-3 pound weight loss for a while, it will add up quick.

As for the elliptical, I did just over 65 minutes the first week, and 15 last week. Was traveling on the road last week and did not have a chance to excercise like I wanted to.

As far as eating out while on the road, I havent had issues yet fortunately. Wendy's (chili+baked potato) and Subway (low fat footlongs) are my primary targets... but I was fine when I went to the diner for work, and Chili's and Olive Garden with friends. I purchased all types of healthy things for the house, and am loading up on fiber cereal since fiber is a great thing for diets in more ways than one.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

Good job guys!  I am back on the bandwagon myself. From January to April last year, I went from 218 to192.  I didn't exercise at all, but ate more six inch sandwiches w/ no mayo and w/ baked chips than you could imagine.  I also, went from about 20 beers a week to about 8 beers.  I was on the road all day in sales, so like you RLS, I passed a lot of burger joints on the way to Subway everyday. I eventually got back into some bad habits.  It wasn't horrible, but I noticed I went back to eating when I wasn't hungry.  For example, it was noon, so it was lunch time.  Or I would go home, and my wife would have dinner ready, so I didn't want to tell her I had a big lunch.  The guilt!!!  So, I would eat another full meal.  Doing that a couple times a week adds up.  With the Alli plan, I only have 1800 calories, so I have to space things out.  When on plan, I eat 400 calories for breakfast, (2) 100 calorie snacks, 600 calories for lunch, and 600 calories for dinner.

I gained some weight back, 3 weeks ago, I was at 201, this morning at 197.  I do the grocery shopping for the family, and there is no junk in the house.  Low fat nilla wafers is as bad as it gets, and those are supposed to be for the kids.  I have done elliptical 3 times a week for 30 minutes.  I also am training for a mini-marathon in May.  I hate running for the most part, but it is really the only thing that sheds weight quickly.  I haven't really trained for anything since having kids 4 -5 years ago, so I really have to squeeze the time in.  I'm like everyone else bros, I can pull more excuses to eat bad and/or not exercise.

I will say last year, these forums really helped my process.  It's hard to eat badly when you are on this website every day.  Plus, I can not put a spoonful of ice cream while I watch the Biggest Loser!  That's when I really feel like a fat lard!

Good luck this week fellas!  Hope to keep in touch!

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

i find that if i plan the meals out and have my snacks, i crave less and less. I have had very little temptation for the fast foods that i frequented. Now that i am working out everynight i am going to bed earlier , so no staying up later and late night snacking right before going to bed.  I am into my third week and have noticed more energy and i feel like i am actually eating more than before i started. I do realize that i am eating more but more of the right things. Even though i work very long days and get home late i still get on the elliptical machine and am now up to 45 minutes non stop. I kick myself for having not started this a long time ago.  I am also drinking lots of water , taking the stairs and just getting out of my office and walking a round the floor from time to time. Keep up the good work everyone, it gets easier.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

Well things still doing well, down to 279 now from starting weight of 288 a few weeks ago. Lost 4 pounds this past week, which I'm very satisfied with. Still havent had a chance to work out as much as I want to, but I've been eating healthy except for one "cheat" meal a week. No TEs either.

Re: Back on the Alli Bandwagon

Well I'm excited to say I'm down to 269, so 19 pounds lost since I started in early January. Still very happy with the program, and just joined a gym this week to keep the pounds coming off. I'm super confident that I'll be well below my goal of 250 by July, just gotta keep the work going.
