4 Months and 53LBS Later Thank You Alli!

4 months and 53 lbs later!

I just want to let everyone know about my experience to possibly help people out on their diets. I am 24 years old 5 feet 4 inches tall and at the time I started alli I was 183 lbs. I was the person out there that never considered themselves “fat” out of shape, overweight, or what have you until one day in the afternoon in August 2008 when I was out to give blood at the local Red Cross. I always gave blood every 6 months but between 6 months the last time I gave blood I had gained more weight and health started to take a plunge. I went in to give blood that day and during the time that they give your retinue exam before they draw the blood out of you the lady sat me down and started to do my heart rate looked at me and her eyes were as big as bowling balls and said, “Hold on I will be right back!” She came back a little while later and tested again the heart rate and then told me if I had been doing drugs, I was taken a little bit I told her No! Why, she said your heart rate is beating 113 beats per minute she said if they would have taken any blood out of me I could have gone into cardiac arrest.  She tested my blood pressure that was though the roof; I don’t remember what she quoted me however it was high none the less. I was sitting there thinking how could this happen! Now that I was thinking about it I was gaining a little weight for the past couple months which was adding up and I went home to started to plan a way I could try to shed some pounds.  I went home and got online and found what a BMI Calculator and I typed in my height and weight and found out that my BMI was 31.4 BMI which is considered Obesity. I was very shocked to find this out!

I started to go online to try to figure out a plan of action that I could change myself to get into the healthy way of life again and get everything back to a normal state for my body and well being. I figured out at first I would try “SLIM FAST” and substitute. 2 meals a day breakfast and lunch and with lunch I would have a breakfast bar with the slim fast and then I would have a very small dinner for a total calorie count of right around 1500 calories a day! I started this on August 1st was losing about a pound a week. I was watching TV the following week and saw the commercial for ALLI on the TV. I started doing research on this product and found out a lot of people were having the “EFFECTS” from the product and I was really questioning if I would do this or not. I decided the next day I would go down to Walgreens and pick up the product and give it a shot I figured what the heck if I could lose more weight within the next couple months, and stick to the plan I would be ok. I opened up the kit, and started to read the books, and to be honest with you I was really happy I picked it up ALLI is a program that really paints a path for you on weight loss as well as provide you a kick with the pill to help you out. ALLI is not a magic pill to solve your problems; however it can help you if you work with ALLI. I started ALLI on August 13th 2008 and took that with my Slim Fast 2 meal substitute and my light dinner meal I did change one other thing. I have had very intense surgeries on my ankles as a child, and could not do any “HIGH” impact exercises. So I went out and purchase an exercise bike. After eating at night I would spend an hour on this bike, and bike 15 miles to 20 miles or 1 hour on the bike 3-4 days a week. I want to say I was losing then about 3-4 pounds a week which was great.  I never cheated once during my 4 months of being on the diet and never wanted to cheat due to the effects I was seeing and how fast the weight was coming off I didn’t want to disappoint myself to get myself off the track.

4 months later and on December 27th 2008 I decided to stop ALLI at least the drug portion however I will still plan on it on a day to day base, because again it is not a magic pill this is a life changing decision. I am now 126 lbs with a total weight loss of 53lbs I feel great my heart rate went from 113 beats per minute resting down to 56 beats per minute resting and my BMI is now 21.6 I feel great I haven’t felt this good sense I was back in high school. I am pretty much zero fat on my body and I am now working on picking up some whey protein at the local GNC here and subscribed to the local gym and am going to work on gaining about 20 pounds of muscle which will put me at 147 were I need to be.  During the past couple days of being off of ALLI I have maintained the weight without a problem and not gaining or loosing anymore just what I wanted.

If I could tell anyone one thing which I have learned which is stick to the schedule that ALLI creates for you and stay on it, it is proven do work and does work I can tell you myself it does work. Never cheat if you can however if you do need to cheat, cheat get it out of your system and then move on never just sit on it and just mope around and think about it. Today is today and tomorrow is tomorrow. But Happy 2009 to everyone out there and let everyone loose a ton of weight thanks to ALLI.

ALLI Thank you for your success!

Randy ... such an awesome story and WOW ... you need to be VERY proud of yourself and continue telling your story - you will be such a motivator for folks who cross your path.

I'm back on the board ... not only to be accountable for myself but to also let others know how/what I am doing.  Sometimes I get more concern about me on-line then I do here at home :(

    Hi Randy,

Congratulations on your success!! It's so great that you took that situation and turned it into motivation to get the weight off. I recommend that you see your doctor for a full physical right now. The goal was to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. You lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. It's important to make sure that everything is okay and that your body is ready for the weight lifting program that you are ready to start.

I hope that you have a wonderful New Year,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
