    Re: bloating

I'm right there with you. I have even gained weight since being on Alli. It kinda seems like it is working the opposite I have been told it should. I have cut out a lot of snacks that weren't healthy and added in healthy ones like fruit and veggies. I just don't get it as to why I have gained weight rather than looseing weight. If you get any answers let me know.

    Raven

Hope this finds you and your's doing well. Take care and stay safe.

    Bright Blessings

    Re: bloating

Adi and Raven - If you've quit a lot of refined food (sugary items, carbs that are not whole-grain) and you've substituted foods that are higher in fiber and bulk, such as whole grain breads, whole-grain pastas and lot's of healthy veggies, this could temporarily cause some discomfort and bloating.  If it's a big, sudden change, it takes a bit for your system to adjust.  Wishing you both the best! - Jane

    Re: bloating

I'm a restarter, and I never experienced that the first time around, but this time 1 1/2 years later when I restarted, I was getting some really bad bloating and gas pressure.  I think I had a worse diet coming into it this time.  It's most likely the change in diet.  Anytime your diet changes your body needs to take time to adjust.  What worked for me was to drink plenty of water at least one glass with every meal and with snacks. I even added some fiber supplement a couple of times, and to take gas-x (or similar) when I felt it coming on.  The good news is that your body will adjust, and this is temporary.  In another week maybe your body should be regulated.  So keep taking your Alli and eating healthy.

I also heard one of the moderators suggest to someone else that taking Alli in the middle or end of your meal instead of the beginning may also help.  I don't know, but may be worth trying.

Change happens one choice at a time.

    Re: bloating

when you are bloated do you weigh heavier? Also, is there an easy weight to know if you are holding water weight? I am just coming off of my cycle, as well as begining a new diet, and feeling heavy and gasier (if that's a word! lol) than ever.

I have considered taking something else as well, fiber or gas-X, but I am worried about TE, I have yet to experience one- but I don't want it all to happen at once! Do you think it's safe?!

    Re: bloating

Meg_an - I take 3 Benefiber capsules per day ... 1 with each meal.  I usually take 1 Alli pill a day; sometimes 2 Alli per day.  This works fine for me but I was taking the Benefiber before I started Alli.  Just thought I'd pass that on.  I don't know how it would affect anyone else. - Jane

    Re: bloating

For me, when it's around that time of the month, I usually tend to go up a couple of pounds due to the excess bloating. I originally started Alli about 2 years ago, and have recently restarted (for about a month and a half), and both times I got constipated on the first few days of taking it. I think it has to do with the change of food you're eating.

    Re: bloating

hi.. i remember vividly the first couple of weeks feeling like i was bloated, constipated and generally sluggish..i too believe that it is the change in diet..when your body adjusts to the new way of eating it reacts this way some times..i reallly kept track of my fiber intake ..make sure that you get enough fiber and its just as important to get enough water in...if taking a mild laxitive is needed at first ,try that.............for me, 1 glass of wine in the evening  will "get things moving' and then i am  fine..this will pass i think..but your colon is adjusting to your new diet too..give it some time..it will get better...kathy

    Re: bloating

Are water pills healthy or dangerous?  I've considered taking them during my period - i just feel so much bigger and my clothes are tighter during that time.
