Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

My current calorie goal is 1800.  I have noticed by the end of the day I am still about 300-400 calories from making that goal.  What can I do to help get to the goal.  I want to make sure that I am doing this correctly so that I am successful.  Should I eat more or leave it be?

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

Lisha, I actually lowered my calories to 1600 when I started Alli. They had put me at 1800 and it was just way too many calories for me. 1600 was much more comfortable and something that I've been able to maintain for the last year.

I don't do "cheat" meals unless its a really special occassion. I'm one that has to stay consistant. I also plan my daily meals so that I don't ever feel deprived. My lunch always includes a small "treat" but I've also planned it into my meal so it doesn't effect what I'm doing for the day. Hersey's has come out with great little 60 calorie chocolate sticks. :)

DD, make a plan for your weekends just like you do for the week. This can help you stay on track and give you a bit more structure. Also, don't use food as a way to reward yourself for staying on track all week. Find healthier ways to reward yourself because you definitely deserve it. :)

     Hey Lisha,

I think I just wrote you on a different post, but i will say welcome again!! Don't cut your calories to much or to soon, I definately would not go below 1600. Add some fruit for snacks, or nuts, whatever you like. You will lower your calories later after your weight drops. Good luck and welcome again!!

Sooooo....I was rooting through my closet in the forbidden section (i.e. - clothes that used to fit or "goal" clothes) and guess what???  I tried on a pair of jeans that I couldn't even squeeze my thighs into a few weeks ago and THEY FELL OFF!!  I didn't even have to button them to pull them up!  My body must be changing due to all the excercise I'm getting even though the scale isn't reflecting what I'd like it to.  I'm pushing really hard each week for a pound so I'm glad to see some tangible evidence that my hard work is paying off!  Anyone else have some success stories?

YAY!! Congratulations!! I think having clothes fit better and look better is much more important than what a scale says!! I had a similar experience, I was shopping for comfy recovery clothes (my hysterectomy is this tuesday) I tried on a size medium and they FIT!!! I really was not expecting them to fit, I just wanted to see how close they were to fitting!!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

    Isn't that just the best?

I went out shopping for tops this week but decided I'd lost enough weight to try on a pair of slacks. I'm wearing a size 8 in jeans so thats what I picked out for the slacks. When I tried them on they were four inches too big! There was no way they would stay up. I was in shock. The next day I tried a couple of size 6's and they fit nice. :)

    Congrats to all!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

Thanks again.  I have been trying to add some extra things in to help increase my calories.  Yesterday I guess I made up for the lack of.  I just had a really rough day.  It is amazing how one  cookie can do that.  I really think it was from a lack of preparation on my part.  But I'm not letting one day spoil anything for me.  I plan to be successful.  One other obstacle that I have is getting a good scale.  I bought an analog that never says the same thing twice.  I think I may just get a digital one.

    Talk to everyone later.

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

     Happy Monday everyone!

What an awful weekend.  My husband was so sweet to give me a great mothers day but it seems his way of "rewarding me" is to take me out to eat.  Isn't that redundant of everything we are all trying to do?  I think it's funny that food is a reward when it's the exact thing that we are trying to change about ourselves.  All in all I didn't do too bad - mixed veggies and grilled shrimp and scallops - but the ceasar salad, bread, crispy shrimp appetizer and champagne probably weren't the best choices.  Lucky for me my hubby is a big muscular guy that is alway hungry and downs the appetizers and salad before I get too much :) I know, I know don't reward yourself with food - I really wanted a manicure or some clothes and I suggested this to hubby but he wanted to go out to dinner too so that was a no go.

Here is my "reach out to you guys" question of the week: Scales

I have a Weight Watchers digital scale and I hate it!! Isn't that one supposed to be reliable?  Now, I understand it doesn't matter what the scale reads as long as you weigh at the same time of day and the scale is on the same place on the floor - I learned that in WW long ago.  But I can weigh myself 5 times in a row (and sometimes throw a kid on there in between times to test it) and it will read 5 different weights.  Now you all know that mentally a 159.2 and a 158.5 are VERY different (or whatever your numbers are) even if that pound difference isn't even noticable to someone else looking at you.  So as an experiment I moved the scale all around the room and again, it was different everytime - frustrating.  Also, when I weigh, sometimes the scale will sort of jump around until it gets a correct reading and other times it just jumps right to a number and stays there.  I find about a whole pound difference when it does the latter.  So who has a great scale that is accurate all the time?

Do great this week and exercise exercise exercise!!!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I have that same scale and it seems to do fine.  I weigh myself twice just to be sure it's the same.  Do you think it might need a new battery?  Have you had it a long time?  Otherwise, I don't know of another reliable scale.  I'm sure they're out there.  Maybe you can google "bathroom scales reviews".  Glad you survived Mother's Day.  You're doing great!

I have a Healthometer which monitors weight, body fat and hydration. I love it. I don't have any problems with the weight changing.

     7 lbs down!  Yeah!

I did miscalculate my weight, but a loss is a loss!

    How is everyone doing?

The sun is coming out this weekend. I'm so excited to see it. :) I'm looking forward to doing things outside.

I just bought the new EA Sports Active game to add something fun to my workouts. I've had it 2 days and I'm already sore in my calves and right arm. (Too much jumping and throwing/hitting activities!)

I've less than 2 lbs to go!!! Can't wait for check-in on Saturday!
