Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

     Hi there...

    I started alli on Monday and so far so good. I haven't had any TE and I am enjoying it. I have my meals prepared for the most part in advance (except for dinner) and it makes life much more easier. I have noticed that it does cost more when I shop for groceries to buy healthy things like fresh fruit and low/no fat dairy products than the unhealty stuff I used to buy. But my husband has been really supportive and has even decided eat the healthy meals along with me. Which is great because I dont have to cook two separate dinner meals!!! Well anyways, good luck to everyone out there. I will continue to check in with you guys on my progress. I cant wait to get back to a size 6!!! One day at a time. Yay!!! :}

Welcome, Jenn! Isn't it great that your hubby is not only supportive but joining you in eating healthy?

If you have any "farmer's" markets in your area, they can be a great place for buying healthy fruits and vegetables at lower prices than the grocery store. They also tend to be fresher. :)

You are on your way to a new you!

K so its my second check in and I'm amazed. I've lost 17lbs! I thought things looked a little different but I didnt dare to hope it. Then for the first time in my life I looked and the scale and didnt burst into tears. I cant tell you what it mean to me. After a lifetime of gaining no matter what to see the numbers decrease meant the world to me. My husband is disabled and he's started alli as well to improve his mobility He's gone from 200 to 184 all ready 1 wk of use btw (ya i'm jealous) and he loves the food

YAY!! Congrats on the 17 pounds!! That is great, I am so happy you are having such great success, keep up the good work!

I still have about 7 extra pounds on me since my surgery, I ran out of Alli while I was on maintanance, I think I will have to buy me some more. I have started going on short walks everyday now, so that helps, I just need to be extra careful about my food...

Crystal, how is the recovery going?

I'm still truckin' along. I was a bit lazier this weekend with my workouts but not too bad. I still worked out but it just wasn't as "vigirous" as I've been doing. I'm finding it harder to exercise in my "target" zone as my cardio has improved. Definitely takes more to get that heart rate up where it needs to be.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

My recovery is a LOT slower than I thought it would be!!I can walk for about 10-15 minuts, and that is about all I can handle, then it is back to bed with my icepack...I am getting a little frustrated, because I WANT to do so much more than I can. I did start working with my medicine ball ( 8 lbs) today, because I can do some exercises laying down for my arms. I still have about 4 extra pounds on me, but I am very proud of myself for any loss, even maintance right now, because the old me would have used this as an excuse to eat whatever I want!!

I hope everyone is doing great and getting ready for summer!!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

Hi all! Well I started this thread and then quit alli.  I'm back and hope that I can join you guys.  I started back on Saturday and have been doing so good with the food and exercise.  Looking forward to seeing if I lost on Sunday which is my checkin.  I'm 32 from Arkansas.  Work as an activity therapist in psychiatric ward.  Have one daughter and a husband who is addicted to junk food.  Anyway, I previously lost over 30 lbs and have kept the most off on Alli.  I need to loose about 29 more to make my first goal.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Reptilemom - I was reading your past from 05/24.  Looks like you have the diet thing figured out.  What is a typical day fo eating for you.  I would appreciate all the help.  I watch my calories and fat, but sometimes wonder if I'm getting too many carbs.  Thanks!

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I definitely try to keep my carbs under control but I think the big thing for me was to stop eating breads, pasta, rice or potatoes after 5pm. I fill up on veggies instead. :)

A typical day will probably sound like a lot of food. LOL

Breakfast: 1 cup Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal, 12 raw almonds, 10 oz coffee with 1/4 cup Swiss Miss Chocolate (exactly 400 calories!)

Snack: Fruit Newton Crisp (100 calories)

Lunch: 1 cup of cooked chicken breast mixed with 1 - 2 cups of veggies (broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower) and 3 Tbsp of homemade Marinara Sauce (1 Tbsp = 1 calorie). A fruit, raw string beans (about a cup to a cup and a half) and a Hersey Chocolate Stick (60 calories!)

Snack: A fruit with some raw almonds or Jolly Time High Fiber air popped popcorn

Dinner: A protein (lean beef, chicken, fish), raw or steamed veggies and a fruit for dessert

You also have to remember that I'm doing about an hour of exercise every day. The exercise really does make a difference in how you use the calories you eat.

Try to eat as much unprocessed food as possible. Making your own food, fresh, gives you much more control over what goes into your food.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions if I can help any more. :)

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

Thanks for the information. I've started out doing at least 20 to 30 minutes of exercise everyday. I hope to work up to 45 to 60 minutes a day. The only way I can loose is to exercise.  I weighed midweek and it looks like I have already lost 2 lbs.  I guess I'm 2 lbs closer.

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

    Congrats on the loss!

Yes, I've found that exercising every day is a very important part of my program. The other part is making sure I'm eating the right foods and keeping my portions in control. It all works together. :)

Remember that you don't have to get all the exercise in at one time. If you can do 20 - 30 minutes at one time then do it again later in the day, that works, too. :) Most of this year I've been doing a 30 minute aerobic workout in the morning then 30 - 40 minutes of something in the evening. It's all about managing your schedule and finding what works for you. :)

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I'm a newbee. My name is Tina and I live in Harrisburg, PA. I am 34. I started alli on Saturday 6-06-09. So far so good. I didn't realize how much fat I was consuming until I started. I don't know if this is the place to ask, but if anyone lives near me I would like a workout partner. I workout now but as we all know, it is better with someone else. Thanks.

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I'm new (well sort of).  Tried Alli before with success, thought I could do it without but obviously didn't since I'm back.  So I just started today.  As of right now I don't have the time to get to the gym too much with my schedule but I'm hoping that will change within two weeks or so once I get some things out of the way.  Let's see...I'm 24 with 60lbs to lose.  I have a 5 year old daughter which probably accounted for 20lbs and nursing school took the other 40.  Now that I'm finishing up I realized that I need to shape up and take care of myself.

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I was always told to treat working out like a very important appointment. A person wouldn't want to miss a doc appt., so a gym appt. should be treated the same. You set a time, and do your best to stick with it. I know it's hard to do, I have trouble too. I started using the steps more at work and walking more until I am off work (at 2pm) and then I hit the gym. I checked this morning, and I lost 3 pounds. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been taking alli since 6-06-09. I didn't have to check until 6-19-09. I got curious.

Re: 20's to 40's that actually check in

I find that with exercise, it takes alot to get in there at first but then I find it addicitng.  It's a great stress reliever.  I'm still in that mode of getting my butt in there after goodness knows how long.  Once I get through with my studying I will have run out of excuses.  At least these two weeks help me get used to the eating right aspect of it and then I can throw in the workouts.
