It is hard to find soul food that is healthy. Come on we know that the best thing about soul food is the FLAVOR...lol I am tring to find new, fun, and easy ways to cook and most importanly to stay on this diet. I have purchased the Alli recipt book but it does not have a lot foods in there that I like to eat. I am looking for food that I can enjoy and is on the same line to what I have been eatting now. I don't mind the change because it is a lifestyle change. I have sub ground beef to ground turkey. I am eatting turkey bacon in replace of regular bacon. I have been using beef and chicken cube to help but I still need a little help with recipes. If anyone out there in the world can help please help me. I have been eatting a soso b'fast, heavy lunch, and lite diner a few snacks in between ;-). PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

    Re: HELP ME PLEASE

No worries - check out the Weight Watchers community boards and their free newsletters for great ideas.  Also you can purchase their cookbooks in your local book store or in a WW location.

As far as the replacement items you look like you are doing great.  Ground beef does not totally have to be replaced.  Look for 100% fat free, of 90/10, or 80/20 - but no lower!!!!!

Party now- why wait for tomorrow!!!!  :)

    Re: HELP ME PLEASE

a lot of the reason's soul food tastes so good is the butter and bacon grease.  Try cooking your veggies in chicken, turkey or veggie broth (fat free). Fresh cabbage or collards cooked in chicken broth and m mcbutter is great.  You can also use Molly McButter.  We now have to resort to different spices and things to make food better.  I now use more onions, garlic, and marinates, and different spices.  Also try if you can find it smoked turkey wings to use as you seasoning meat.  I just get rid of the skin and can still eat the turkey.  I gave up pork a long time ago and don't miss it.

There is also beef breakfast sausage (sometimes hard to find) but find it more at Walmart.(frozen breakfast food).  Sometimes do salmon and onions in skillet with little olive oil, for breakfast too along with scramble eggs, toast.

    Hope this helps
