    May ALLI Starters

HI everyone!  I just started with ALLI on May 1st.  If anyone else out there has also started in May then let's start our own thread to help us keep track and motivate each other to continue the battle of the bulge!  I just weighed myself and I lost 1.5 LBS over the past week.  Of course I was weighing myself all week and actually weighed a pound less on Wed (darn it!) But I guess I can chalk it up to water weight, or muscle weight or whatever!  As part of my diet, I also work out about 4-5 times a week doing a combo of cardio and weight lifting.  I would like to lose about 15-20 pounds if possible and figure the 1.5 a week is about what I would expect from dieting and ALLI.  Still trying to adjust to the nasty number two's in the toilet with orange oily substances, but I after reading several posts, I guess it's normal.  Panty liners may be the way to go!  How are all of you May starters or earlier starters doing?

    Re: May ALLI Starters

    Hi Jencheetam,

I hope that there are other May starters who join in on this. Your weight can vary up to 7 lbs in one day so don't be too concerned when you don't see it go down one day. When you have stuck with your calorie goal for at least 2 weeks and don't see any weight loss that would be the time to make some changes. For now it sounds like you are on the right track.

    Keep up the great work,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

Hey!  I started on May 3.  We can help keep each other motivated.  I know what you mean about the scale.  I have an analog and it never says the same thing twice, so I don't know if I am losing or gaining.  I stay within my calorie range, so I hope I am losing.  I look forward to helping each other reach our goal.  You will probably get there before me ( I want to lose about 60 pounds).  Talk to you later.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

I started on May 2. I've stayed within my fat and calories pretty well every day. I started walking around 2 miles every day, sometimes with weights. I weighed myself today and only lost 1 lb. for the week. I was disappointed, I guess it's average, but I had hoped for more. I can't seem to find where I check in and load my current weight and get a ticker line to track it.

I know how you feel with the scale!  While I have lost 1.5 pounds in the past seven days since I started, my scale too is up and down!  I need to just stick to Fridays, once a week but I'm just so curious since using ALLI is new to me.  Maybe I can try every few days instead of every day.  Mother's day is going to be tough as we are going to a Chinese restuarant where my favorite dish is a deep fried chicken one!  I'll try to seek out lower fat dishes if I can cause I do not want the bowel problems I had last Sunday by accident!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

I hear you on the belly fat!  Do you work out as well?  I just started a new abs program from a magazine called Women's Health (I think it is the May issue).  Anyways, it is for 6 weeks and there are 4 different ab. exercises that you do three times a week.  The 2nd three weeks the exercises get a little more challenging. The exercises are on a tear out insert in the magazine so you can do it at home or take it with you if your maybe interested! I started it this week and it usually takes about 15 minutes to do.  If it can help reduce my love handles so that I can wear t-shirts without the bulge showing, I'll be happy!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

I started last Monday and have gone up 1.5 pounds :o(  But I know I haven't been as dedicated as I should. I was hoping that if I had some small result it would kick up the motivation but I'm going to try and make better decisions each week and maybe one day I'll see some positive change! I know this didn't happen overnight and it's going to take awhile to get rid of the bad decisions and the weight.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

     Hi,

I just started on Alli a week ago.  I've been changing my eating habits and exercizing since October 2008.  So far I've lost about 43 lbs.  half my goal.  I thought I would add Alli and see if I can get off this plateau I've been on.  So far no side effects and I've been able to follow the fat guidelines as I was close to doing that already.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hi May starters.  I began my Alli program on May 7.  I think it would be a great idea to try to keep each other motivated.  Right now I am very hopeful and excited about the plan but I know that a group effort would help me keep my positive outlook over the long term.  I started because my oldest son is getting married May 2010 and I want to really enjoy the day.  I don't want my weight to be my focus that day just my happiness.  So let's join together to reach our goals.

Slow and steady wins the race.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hi Everyone! I started Alli this past Friday, after starting my new low fat diet a week earlier. I am kind of disgusted to see every calorie and every fat gram that I am eating now (through The Daily Plate - which is AMAZING) and HOW BAD it must have been before!! I have a goal of losing almost 190lbs. That's more than most of my friends weigh! But I feel positive and am excited that I have decided to make this change.

I've opted with the Alli meal delivery plan from eDiets. I have never eaten right, so I wanted to ease into learning portion control and counting fat and calories. This plan takes a lot of the work out of it, but I don't plan on staying on it forever. Right now, I am on the 5-a-week plan, which is allowing me to try making low fat meals on the weekends and not thinking about it during the week. The food is pretty great! I've only come across one thing I haven't liked so far - in 15 meals. I've tried nutrisystem in the past and eDiets is 1,000% better.

I also started exercising three times a week. Which is three times more than I used to! I joined a water aerobics class at the local YMCA. And it’s kicking my butt, which I love. I will add in walking soon. I haven’t had any treatment effects yet, but I am sticking strictly to my limits. I think that it helped to be on a low fat diet for a week before. I even had a dinner party to go to this weekend and did really well.

Glad to meet new people! Let's support eachother on this amazing journey!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

     Hi Everyone,

I am starting (over) today. I originally started two days after Christmas but was derailed by a stress fracture in my foot in March. My foot is still messed up but the pool being open gives me an opportunity to swim and I can stop using it as an excuse and get on the stationary bike at the gym!

I lost 26lbs. to begin with so I know the program works. I have gained 5 back....grrr!!!! I hope to put those to rest quickly. I can attest to the fact that the program really works if you follow it. The most important thing is to use the food journal!!!!!!!! I have tried keeping up with things in my head and you would be suprised how much you forget. Every little nibble counts.

I'm ready to get back on track and continue to feel better about myself. I hope we can all do it together. It's great to have the support of others who know exactly how you feel.

Good luck to all of you!

    Julie H.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hi Barbara - Congratulations on your son! I have a three year old nephew and a neice on the way. I want to play with them and be able to keep up with them. Like you, I don't want to focus on my weight anymore. I just want to enjoy life and live it freely!

My first weigh-in is tomorrow night (I refuse to weight myself more than once a week, so I don't get discouraged) and am so excited to see if there is any progress. I know that I feel better about myself already.

    We can do this together!

    1st Mini Goal: Lose 5% of body weight (18lbs) - 6/24/09

    2nd Mini Goal: Lose 17lbs - 8/24/09

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hello everyone - I started Alli today. I am hoping that this will help me get back on track. I had a baby boy last year and lost almost all of my baby weight and then just stopped eating right and working out in December. I want to lose that last 20lbs and hoping that Alli will help. I hope that we will be able to motivate each other to our weight loss goals!!
