    Re: ~*~June Alli Beginners~*~

Yes please!  How have everyone's first days or weeks gone?  I could tell that Alli was working after my first few meals, but with the last few (last night, this am, this lunch) I couldnt really tell---if you know what I mean.  :)  I started Fri, and havent had any bad treatment effects yet.  Maybe I'm much more concious about my meals this weekend, and thus it seems to be "working" a little less(?).

Hope everyone is doing well, Diane

    Re: ~*~June Alli Beginners~*~

It seems like the 65 lbs I've lost was so easy.  Now I'm struggling alot.  But the Alli is working and I have faith now that I CAN get to my goal.

I do have kids, but they pretty much do their own thing.  My daughter is 22, she works and comes and goes as she pleases.  My son is 16 and hanging out with mom is not cool!  LOL  So it's easy for me to get up and go on a walk whenever I want.  With small kids it's harder.  I can remember when I use to go to the gym years ago, I'd have to go when they were busy with something or my hubby would take over so I could go.

I don't know what is meant by coming on here the 1st of the month.  I like talking every day.  It motivates ya and keeps you going.

Went on a walk today and hubby saw me on his way home from the store and said I was practically jogging I was going so fast. LOL  Now I walk with a cane, so how can I jog???? hehe  I wear a HRM so I can be sure to keep my heart rate up around 130.  So I do walk pretty fast.  I thought it was funny he said that.

This is just what I am looking for. I started June 7th and have lost 6 lbs. Is there anyone out there that live in the Apopka, FL area? I'm not having any problem with eating right. I just can't seem to find the time to exercise. It sure would be nice to have a "buddy" to help me out.

I am starting the pill on Wednesday as well... I am lucky that I have a "built in" workout program.  I am walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer again this year, and they have a 24 week training program available to us.  I'm not big on eating, but it is WHAT I eat that is getting me...

I have a feeling this group will be very encouaraging to all...

    Re: ~*~June Alli Beginners~*~

My name is Michelle I am 35 years old.  I am a wife of twelve years this month, (don't know where all the years went) We have three children my daughter 16 came to the marriage with me but you would never know it she has nothing to do with her father and everything to do with my hubby! We have two boys.  one 11 and one 10 they were born 1/98 and 12/98.  Both have disabilities.  My life has revolved around struggling to get them the care they need and schooling and functioning in normal society. I work night shifts so that  we don't have to put them into daycare. Now that they are getting older, and doing great I have noticed somewhere along the line of doing all this I forgot to take care of me.  I have gained 12 lbs shy of my delivery pregnancy weight.  I am tired of getting asked how far along I am.  Tired of being apologized too after I tell them I am not pregnant.  I want to lose weight.  I want to do this for me mostly but also to be there for my husband and kids as long as I can.  I am here to obtain a healthier body to have a longer happier life to overcome the self destruction of over eating and feel better about myself.  I am here to make friends that understand the struggles and that are here for mutual encouragment.  and that kick in the right place when needed.  This seems to be the place to find that you all seem real supportive.  want to buddy up!!!????

sjdrj, I admire you.  We have been lucky enough that breast cancer has not touched our lives.  Sadly enough our monster was non-hodgkins lymphoma.  Took my mom early in life she was 49.  no matter the beast's name cancer needs a cure. go, fight, win!!!! my thoughts and prayers be with you and may my strength be yours on your walk... good luck. I am glad you are in this forum.

    Re: ~*~June Alli Beginners~*~

Hey all! Did wonderful at work today. Came home, had a great meal planned, and guess why no air conditioner. House was horrible. Decided not to cook. Ran to the store and got a bologna sandwich and cheetos. TE's all night. I guess I learned my lesson.  Anyway, my air conditioner is working now, but the house is still super hot.  I never even got to work out.

Anyway, interested in what others do for a living.  I work as an actvity therapist for a geriatric psychiatric ward. Some days I feel so drained that I don't even want to think about cooking healthy, but I've been trying to work on that.  Also my goal for this week is to limit some of my diet sodas.  I know it would be better for me to give them up.  What are your mini goals this week?

    Re: ~*~June Alli Beginners~*~

Yikes on your airconditioner!  Hopefully you're not in the South; I am in Austin, TX and our base temp has been 100-101.  I think I get "bonus points" for walking the dog (and my husband, LOL) before the sun set tonight.  :)  I'm a computer engineer, and my mini-goals for the week include actually drinking the 8 glasses of water I know I should be getting each day, balancing carbs/protein/fat in my new Alli diet, and not visiting my coworker Patricia in her office.  She keeps a huge box of mini chocolate bars etc on her desk!  :(

When you dont feel up to cooking, is there a grocery or fast-food place you can go to which offers ready-made salads?  Here in Austin we have Culver's fast food and grocery chains like Randalls (Tom Thumb to some) and HEB which offer ready-made salads, chef salads, and other fairly healthy choices.  Some of the brand-name fast foods are in Alli's meal database, i discovered---I had a Wendy's chicken sandwich (sheepish grin) yesterday and logged it as part of my "be honest with myself" dieting journal.

Good luck to you, and to all on this board.  June beginners rock!

    Doin' it for me.
