    Belly Fat

I'm 5'3 181 lbs.  I think my body is proportioned okay for being overweight except  for my stomach.  My waist is 41.  I exercise with cardio and do the walk away the pounds for abs, but I still have this belly roll.  When I wear jeans it rolls over the top of them.  What do you suggest I do to get rid of it sooner?  Thanks for any help.

    Re: Belly Fat

Unfortunately there really isn't a way to get rid of it faster. The weight will come off the way it comes off. You will find the belly fat is likely the last place you will lose because of how women's bodies are made to carry weight. Most of us carry it in the belly, hips and thighs. Keep doing your cardio as cardio is one of the best ways to lose fat over the whole body. Continue to do muscle strengthening exercises to build new muscles which are calorie burning machines.

Most of all, be patient! The weight and inches will come off. Remember it took time to put them on so it will take time to make them go away.

    Re: Belly Fat

yes.. i agree whole heartedly...continue what you are doing..reptile mom is right on... i HAD the same issue..now that i am down to a normal weight my belly is also greatly reduced..now i have had 3 kids and the last 2 were c sections, so the odds of me having washboard abs are pretty slim, BUT i no longer hang over my jeans..do i have a little pooch?? yes .. however, i am still working on that by working on my core..you never know... someday maybe... kathy

    Re: Belly Fat

that's sucks that the belly is the last place to go!!! I have that same problem. I think that my mid-section is the only place I hold fat!!! And the kicker is that I HATE cardio with a passion. It is so boring...those DARN MACHINES!!! It doesn't matter what magazine I am looking at or what music I am listening to...after about 10 minutes I am looking at the clock wishing it would move faster. I belong to a very small gym also, so it's not like I can switch it up much because we don't have alot of variety. What else can I do?

    Re: Belly Fat

I use my portable DVD player to watch movies while on the treadmill. :) I try to pick movies or TV shows that have lots of action and that will keep me really distracted from lookin at the time. I've gone from doing just 3 miles to 5 or 6 miles.

Try swimming. It's a great cardio workout and can be lots of fun.

    Water aerobics

Join a cardio class such as Kickboxing, belly dancing, or other "non-traditional" aerobics class.

There are tons of DVDs with various types of aerobics programs on them. Try borrowing some from the library to see what kinds you like.

The options these days are almost limitless. Explore and have FUN!
