    my typical Monday "re-start"....

what is the matter with me? i cannot get through the weekend without completely blowing it. then, i spend the rest of the week trying to fix the damage i did.

i'll never get anywhere like this. the scale just keeps going up.

    i want to lose 40 pounds.....at this rate, i'll never lose 10!!!!

    :-(

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

weekends are hard for sure. maybe incorporate more veggies and fruits and lots of water and don't forget the exercise and stay busy with housework, gardening, reading, knitting, posting, etc... things that keep you busy and your mind off eating or grazing.

i'm realizing my weaknesses like going to family get togethers and vacations. i'm really limiting myself to the get togethers for now b/c there is so much food and stress there. they treat me rather weird/odd/nasty sometimes so i don't need that and for vacations i seem to get a mind set where i think i can eat like no tomorrow and rationalize that i'm on vacation. so i told my sis before i can come see her, was supposed to in october, now i'm putting it off till march till i get my weight under control. thankfully she is understanding. she has a weight dilemma like me.

this upcoming weekend look at it as a challenge and meet it head on and take back your control. Mix things up and change things around. My husband and i on saturdays take our kayak and canoe out to a new lake, which is so great. then we come back and have a healthy breakfast with turkey bacon. it is so delicious.

good luck to you. let us know what happens.

what exercising program do you do? walking is good.

p.s. i have a challenging weekend coming up; going to our 20 acres, like camping and the eating isn't the greatest but we're bringing salad fixins in a cooler and my apples, gotta have my apples. they fill me up and give me fiber. woo hoo. a gal needs that.

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

Oops!  Had bookclub last night and did not take my Alli pill prior to it.  Had homemade Glorious Red Cake with Butter frosting.   Today am back on plan but suffering treatment side effects from last night, I guess.....

You can do this.  Weekends are hard.  Motivation is hard. But as a woman and mommy, you are much harder to deal with than they are!

    Hang in there.

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

thanks girls. great advice. i seem to have the "all or nothing" approach. so diligent and rigid or complete abandon. i have to find a balance.

Anita-i did that for awhile. i didn't attend church/family functions and picnics because i knew the food would be too tempting. then, i began going and i would take my own food. people would look at me so weird and say "why are you eating salad". mostly, i'd just like to find the balance.

a big mistake i am making right now is that i haven't developed an exercise plan. a real PLAN! i walk here, walk there. but i really feel like i need a good cardio session a couple times a week. i used to exercise regularly. i drifted away from that. the cardio session requires i get up around 4:30am. that's tough. but, i can do it. my biggest obstacle is my head!

Cindy-"on the go", huh?! cute. sounds so much like a tag i could use for me.

    thanks again for everything.

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

Yes, the weekends are the hardest. You don't work to occupy your mind throughout the day. And it seems like my husband always wants to eat out on the weekends too. If I do decide to eat out, I chose items that are low-fat and not fried or sauteed. I also try doing things around the house to keep myself occupied off the food like exercising, cleaning up, going outside to do stuff in the yard, etc. I also try to remember that if I eat badly now, I'm gonna suffer later. Hope this helps.

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

    Hi Mommyx1,

As you can see, you are definitely not alone with this. Part of the reason why the weekends can be so much more difficult is because of unstructured time. Come up with a list of what the difference is between your weekday plan and weekend and you'll see where you can focus some of your attention on. There is no need to make your weekday plan fit into the weekend. Instead, come up with a plan for the weekends. You may decide to save some extra calories from during the week to have on the weekend. You may want to use a meal replacement bar or shake for one meal a day on the weekend if you are having a larger meal later on. There are lots of possibilities so be as creative as can.

    Does this make sense?

    Re: my typical Monday "re-start"....

     Wow, Betty. Thanks so much.

This advice was great. These two ideas have never occured to me. Which is funny because I have been losing/maintaining/gaining weight a long time. It's not often I'm given information I haven't absorbed somewhere else before.

    Thank you so much.

    Hi Alicia,

You are very welcome! I love trying to come up with new ideas and can only do it when I hear what is going on. The fact that you shared your story gave me the chance to help so thanks for sharing!

Keep me posted on how you do with this,
