I need help, who would have though that?

As the title to the post says, I need help. I am at a loss when it comes to what to eat, I know that may sound silly in a way. I like most meats unless it's fish. The only way I like my fish is fried and thats a no no atm. I'm picky about alot of veggies too. I'll eat potates, carrots, field peas, baked beans, butter beans, squash, lettuce, cucumbers...I hate tomates unless they are cooked and totally dislike peppers. I like other veggies too I just can't think of them at the moment. Yes, I am a picky easter to a degree...and I need help with figuring out what oto eat to make sure I get enough fat and not too many calories....Anyone else been here before? Any suggestions?

It looks like you eat a fairly good amount of foods but you don't mention fruits, grains or dairy products. Take a look at the Alli recipes and see which ones you would like to try. There are tons of healthy recipes to be found for free all over the web. Make sure to journal your foods so you know what you are getting in a meal. Make a list of favorite meals. If a favorite meal needs a little more fat there are foods that can be added such as a little cheese, a few nuts, flaxseeds, olive oil, or certain vegetables. High fiber foods can help with calories because you need smaller amounts to feel satisfied.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

This is going to sound weird but sometimes you have to do things even though you don't like to.  It has been my experience that your body craves certain things, vitamins & mineral, exspecailly.  I have found that people who do not like to many veggies but that start eating them anyway will actually start to crave them and like them after a while.  I am a foster mom and almost every child that comes to us hates veggies and at first refuses to eat them but we do not make individual dinners so they get them and end up eating them. And after a while they like the very things that they refused in the beginning.  So maybe if you slowly add stuff that you may not really like but is good for you after a while you will start like them.

I had this happen to me.  I hated grapefruit but started eating it anyway and now love it. Same with fish and mushrooms.  I am pretty luck with that I grew up eating almost every veggie out there but there so I do not have much trouble with what to eat.

    Good luck.

Re: I need help, who would have though that?

Check out the "Cook Yourself Thin" cookbook (and re-runs on Lifetime Channel if you have a chance).

My main irk with the Alli recipes is that they are all for one serving.  I would guess that not that many of us are cooking a separate meal for ourselves if we have a family, and having to recalculate the recipes for the proper number of servings is just plain annoying.  Plus, is anyone really going to open a can of beans and use just 2 tablespoons?  But I digress.

The CYT cookbook has great recipes, and really helps me make better choices for foods, including some neat tricks for cutting a bunch of fat and calories out of the "no no" favorites.  Their philosophy is pretty in line with the Alli plan, so I have no trouble using their recipes with the Alli.

And, as someone else replied, keep trying stuff you "don't like" or that you haven't tried.  Your tastebuds change over time, so something you didn't like 5 years ago, you may like now.  And preparation may make all the difference.  If you hate canned green beans, try them fresh or frozen instead.

But, I'm with on tomatoes all the way!  Yuck!  If it looks, tastes, or smells like a fresh tomato, I can't even stand to pick it out myself, and beg my husband to make it go away...

    Good luck!
