    Alli on Vacation

Hi, I'm taking a cruise for vacation this year and I'm a bit nervous about following the plan while I'm away.  When I'm at home, I can plan meals for the entire day because I know how things are prepared.  Even when dining out, I don't worry too much about erroneous estimates of fat and calories because it is only one meal and I can usually compensate for it at the next meal.  In this situation, I won't have as much of an ability to plan meals and I won't really know how foods are prepared.  I don't want to limit my dining experience on the ship to cold cuts and wheat bread!  Does anyone have any suggestions on the best ways to handle the cruise situation?

    Thanks much...

    Re: Alli on Vacation

     Hi,

One of the best and worst things about a cruise is the amount of food!! While there will be many temptations on your cruise there also will be healthy options available.  The buffet had a lot of fresh fruit which would be a great snack. And the staff if often very accomidating and you could probably order some grilled chicken and vegatables at dinner.  And if they cant or you really want something on the menu that isnt that healthy just remember to watch your portion control. Something that helps me is having a healthy snack before I go out to eat if I know I will be tempted with unhealthy options. That way I dont cave into my temptations to order the chicken quasadilla and even if I do I'm not starving so I wont eat the entire plate.  Hope this helps and have a great time on your cruise.

    Re: Alli on Vacation

Thank you so much!!  Those are great suggestions. I've been doing very well sticking to the program and I don't want vacation to spoil it for me because I'm out of my routine.  I'll let you know how things go...

    Take care :-)
