    Hit a Pleateau- trying Alli to get through it

    Hey! I started my diet last July- Between July and November I lost 15lbs with diet and exercise. (my "diet" consisted of eating healthy foods, and having a good carb/fat/protein ratio) I have been on the same "diet" since then but have not lost anything... I am trying alli to break through this plateau.. I am 5'5 I started at 165- I am back to 153 today... my goal was 130 but 135 would be a healthy weight for me.

    Does anyone else have any similar stories or words of encouragement?

    thanks!!!

    Hi Katyns,

    Congratulations on the success that you have had! When you have lost weight your calorie needs decrease. Have you adjusted your intake since losing? I have two posts on the beginning of the personal experiences board that will give you details on how to make this plan work for you. One is about calories and weight loss and the other is about fat grams for this plan. Take a look at those for more details on to get past your plateau.

    Let me know if you have any other questions,

    Well, I noticed you posted this last month. How are you doing with it?

    I am just starting too.  I also was up in the 160s and with a bit of smarter eating and more activity this year, I've managed to plateau between 155 and 150 for a long while. I guess I too need a bit of a push to get things going again. Especially with the holidays coming up soon. Yikes! ^-^;;

    Hope you do well. :)

    Re: Hit a Pleateau- trying Alli to get through it

     well i have lost 82 pounds since the 1-1-09 and i hit a plateau and i had to really watch my cals.  i keep a peice of paper on the frig and everytime i take something out, i write it down.  i have also started staggering my cal totals for the day.  i weigh on sat so i eat 1500 cals, sunday 1400, monday 1450, tues 1500, wed. 1400 thurs 1350, and friday 1200.  and i also work out all 7 days because i feel better if i do but to each his own.  the staggering tricks your body to thinking that your not on a diet, but really you are.  i have found that writing it down as well makes you more aware of what is going into your body.  when i started i weighed 253 and today on 10-17-09 i weighed 171.  i only have 21 pounds left to go to reach 150 and i am doing it the right way.  i did lose weight one other time, but i gained it all back because i didn't know how to eat.  taking alli has taught me how to eat and what to eat.  also it have taught my how to become more active in my life and i can actually keep up with my kids.  i look better and feel better and i am actually learning how to like shopping again.  i went from a size 24 pants to a size 12 and am wanting to be a size 10.  so keep up the great work and see if this helps.

    Re: Hit a Pleateau- trying Alli to get through it

     Shanette, Congrats on your success and being close to your goal.  I started Alli in August and have not been successful.  I had lost 6 but recently back up 2 so, since August only 4 pounds. I know that planning and choices are the biggest part of weight loss.  I start out great and fizzle out by the next week.  Today, I plan to resume this journey with more passion and I hope, better success.  I have been working at weight loss for toooo long (years) and to not have success is very discouraging.  While I try not to let it get me down, it does sometimes.  It will get better, I know but waiting for a change, and not seeing results when you really work hard makes things look bleak too.  I'm ok and while this is not a plateau, I have to work pass this.
