    Weight Watchers

I thought I read somewhere in the starter kit, that these pills work well with the Weight Watchers diet.  Is that true?  I really like weight watchers, and if I could follow that diet and take the pills that would be great.  If anyone is doing weight watchers, please let me know how it is working for you!  Thanks guys, and good luck to everyone!!!

    Re: Weight Watchers

Yes, you can combine the Alli Program with Weight Watchers.  Be sure to count your fat grams along with the WW points.  Always keep your fat gram allotment for each meal.  If you're having a fat-free meal - usually breakfast - like cereal, skim milk, juice & coffee no capsule is need for that meal.

    Re: Weight Watchers

I have been on WW for about two months and I have been losing around one pound a week.  I started Alli last Tuesday and today was my first weigh-in after starting with the Alli.  I lost 2.4 pounds!  I think that the Alli and WW works well together and using the Alli Nutrition Log has really helped me to watch my fat grams.  I plan on continuing with both WW and Alli.

    Re: Weight Watchers

None of the books have the fat grams.  You need to look on the packages of the foods you eat to find out.  Also, in theAlli starter package, there is a book that tells the fat grams of various foods.

    Re: Weight Watchers

I am also doing WW and alli.  I've lost 60+lbs. on WW and lost three lbs. the first day of using alli, this is only my third day.  You can find the fat grams on any prepackaged food items on the nutrition label.  I love using the nutrition log that is part of the alli program when you register.  You can simply search for the food and it automatically calculates your fat, fiber, calories, etc.  It's great, since using this log I've found out that I'm not getting enough fiber.  Also, if there's a food not in the log you can simply put it in yourself.  You can also google nutritional information for almost any food.  Well good luck!

    Re: Weight Watchers

I don't always have time for a well prepared meal.  I use WW smartones for my meals and keep up with the fat grams.  I tend to be full and have extra energy from the protein in the WW smartones.  Also, I find if i want a cold snack, their ice cream is good, but watch the fat grams.

    Good Luck.

    Re: Weight Watchers

I have been doing WW and alli for about 6 weeks (roughly).  It has helped me maintain weight loss from week to week.  Also, it helped with harder times to eat well (like vacation).  I just registered a few weeks ago with myalli though, so this is my first time on these boards.  I think doing ww with alli is good b/c ww really works to teach you to make better choices and maintain, and alli helps you get there...

BTW, I'm going to Canada in two weeks.  Does anyone know what I should do regarding take Alli with me across the boarder?  I haven't been out of the country since 1998!

    Re: Weight Watchers

Just a note--this is MY experience. I was doing really well with Weight Watchers alone, beginning back at the end of February. I was consistently losing on average 2.4 or 2.6 pounds per week, following my points exactly (including getting my servings of milk, veggies/fruit, oils, and water). As we were scheduled to go on a cruise in December, I thought... "Wow... if I could lose an additional 50% of pounds lost, I might be able to squeeze into my evening gown again and not have to buy a new one!" Well... my weight loss actually SLOWED on Alli. I'm still losing, but not nearly at the rate that I was. I've changed my workouts and everything. I believe the "50% more weight loss" is actually figured against what you WOULD lose at the higher calorie diet alone, meaning that if you followed the 1800 calorie diet, eating 19 grams of fat per meal, you'd lose maybe one pound per week, but with Alli, you might lose 1.5 pounds per week. On WW, my points have me eating around 1500 calories per month. Doing so, I'm losing around 8 pounds per month. Should I eat more food so that Alli causes more of the actual loss??? I think I'll stick with what I'm doing to get the 2 pounds per week--I don't want to eat more so that I can lose 1.5 pounds per week.... and seeing that my loss is actually less now with the Alli, I"m wondering if the additional loss of fat (from Alli flushing it from my body) is causing my body to "hold onto" more of the wieght overall.... IDEAS??? Thoughts and comments welcome. I've lost 73 pounds overall with WW since 28 Feb, (only 22 pounds since starting Alli 3 months ago). I'm considering quitting Alli since I have the motivation without it. I just don't think it's helping me. Thanks!

I'm glad to hear you're doing well.  You sound very confidant and that's good!  As far as travel, you shouldn't have any problem since Alli is not a liquid.  That's the only thing that's regulated.  You can not carry more than three ounces of any liquid (including water), and all liquids (makeup, hairspray, liquid medicine, deordorant, etc.) must be pack ed in a 1-quart (no other size permitted) plastic bag and placed in a bin when you go through check in.  If you check your luggage you can pack larger sizes of liquid.

    I hope this helps.

    Re: Weight Watchers

I have been on WW in the past with good results.  My concern now is if I follow it with Alli will I be getting enough fat?  I have been on Alli one week and have not lost a pound.  I have drastically cut back  on my fat and calories and have been walking.  I am upset to say the least, but am assuming it may be from not getting enough fat.  Why is 19 grams of fat per meal so important? Also if I buy a WW meal and it only has 6 grams of fat should I eat more with it?

That's wonderful!!!  Yes, the Nutrition Log is great for helping to calculate the fat and calories etc.  I'm glad things are going so well for you.

The fat is important because the Alli capsules work by blocking 25% of the fat you eat so little or no fat = little or nothing to block.  There's a great post at the top of this message board about "why fats are important."  I urge you to read it, I think it will help a lot.

Yes, you'll need to add something like a salad with oil and vinegar, or LF milk; or whole grain roll with peanut butter to get to your recommended level.  Since you mentioned 19 grams per meal, you're on the 1,800 calorie level, I assume.  I realize this may sound strange to eat more fat to lose weight, but that's the way Alli works.  Please read that post.

Glad you're walking as well.  Exercise is always helpful!

Let me know if you need anything else.

There is a Fat & Calorie Counter included in the Starter Kit.  You can also get fat and calorie paperback books; or borrow some from the library.  Websites like www.calorieking.com also have great listings of foods and beverages.

    I hope this helps.
