Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

Well Beachruca, I'm glad you have something in the mix to hold you over until the right job comes along.  You know what they say, when God closes a door He opens a window, so I'm praying for ya.

Alright ladies, I'm off to bed.  I want to wish everyone a good night and a great start to tomorrow morning.  I WILL be better tomorrow, and we will all do what will extend our lives and ultimately make us happier!!  My goal is to start going to the gym in the morning, so I have no excuse to bail out on going after work/class, like I did today!

Good luck to you all and I am thinking positive thoughts.  I WILL get to the weight needed to join the Air Force, the Lord knows our desires and I have faith that He will help all of us get where we need/want to be.

Talk to you all tomorrow!!  =)

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

Good Morning buddies, Thanks for the warm welcome!....In reference to the challenge that I am joined up on, currently. I belong to the NEW percentage weight loss challenge under the lose 100+ forum, as well as the new labor day challenge and this new one titled 8/8/08, a pledge to try to lose 8lbs by 8/8. I love challenges, like to hold myself accountable. I also belonged to this challenge but it ended 6/30. It was an exercise challenge. While I liked the idea of reporting my exercise I couldnt keep track of the nutritional log(I started using it religiously but it is just sooo time consuming. I watch what I eat very carefully and keep a running talley in my head now. Seems to be working so far. I felt so amped yesterday after reading over everyones entries here that I went home and did the Wii Fit for 40 minutes....I did a step program(almost like a step class) but its pretty cool cuz you can use it and watch tv at the same time. I also used resistance bands but only for like 10 minutes. Today I will use my balance ball to work some abs. I ate well yesterday, found a recipe for this great dish called Eggplant rotolo....Think lasagna and eggplant rollatini rolled into one but without all the fat and calories....it works out to be like 16g fat per serving, which is 2 rolls, YUMMY. I also had some vanilla yogurt with some fresh fruit salad mixed in. I love the summer because of all the fresh fruit options. Well I hope everyone has a good day.
Jen sw as of 4/6/08 274 cw as of 11/5/08 233 (15% lost) 41lbs gone for good! next mini goal 223 Would LOVE to be 215 by xmas. looking forward to a new me, and a better future.

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

I like the sound of the 8/ 8/ 8 challenge..catchy title.  I haven't found it yet but I'll keep looking.  That one might be a little unrealistic for me because I usually lose 1 lb a week but it might spur me to try harder.  I need plenty of motivation too.  Hey, you'd think that the full length mirror in my bedroom would provide all the motivation I need!  I hope everybody is doing well, eating healthy, exercising, and drinking that water.  I know it is easier for some of us to gulp down a 20 oz soda than an 8 oz glass of water, but it is the water that is going to help us reach our goals.  I never miss the soda anymore except on those rare occasions when I succumb to pizza or popcorn.  Those foods just don't taste right with water to me.  What has everybody else found hard to give up?  The soda was easy for me, but I still crave sweets almost everyday.  What did you find easy to give up?   Oh, butter was hard for me to give up at first, but I use it very sparingly now.  I thought it might be interesting for us to share the things that were the hardest and the easiest for us to give up.

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

I would love to do the 8/8/08 challenge as well, that would finally take me under the 200s and I cannot tell you the last time I was that small.  Probably before birth control set in during high school..over 8 years ago.  I did really well today, worked out (though not in the am, 25 min on elliptical and burned 300 calories, then upper body lifting) and I stayed at 1600 calories.  YaY!  Also, I found a new apt RIGHT across the street from my gym, I could literally walk there in 2 min that is within my price range.  Please pray for me, the boyfriend and I are going to view it tomorrow!  =)

So, I wanted to get everyone's opinion about something.  Because of this Air Force thing, and the slow rate of loss I am having, I was thinking about trying the South Beach Diet with Alli.  It seems IMPOSSIBLE, no sugar or carbs at all for 2 weeks.  I think I would go crazy because I eat A LOT of breads, and cereals.  It says to basically only eat veggies and protein the first 2 weeks, and then you gradually reintroduce the other foods back into your diet.  I have heard that doing this will jump start weight loss, and that is what I need now, but I know I couldn't do it forever, so basically I would do it to make weight, and then go back to portion control and eating regularly.  What do you all think?  Has anyone else tried this?  Should I try it?  I will still take the Alli, it would just be cutting carbs.

I am going to sleep on it and really think it over the next couple of days, but input would be appreciated!

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

     Hi Ladies-

I just stumbled across this area on the board.  Wow, you gals are hysterical!  I was laughing so hard at the humor in some of the posts!!  You guys are so motivational and comical at the same time--exactly what I need.   I'm starting the pills on Friday.  Hopefully, I get no TE's with all this.  I've been low fat dieting..or trying to anyway.  My jeans seem to be "sagging" a bit..which is 'A OK' with me!  Normally I'm in a size 20-22 but these are 18's!  Woohoo!! Anyway, I'm 23 yrs old, 5'4", and was 267lbs last time I was weighed almost a month ago. This is not my heaviest weight which was 287lbs back about 2-3 yrs ago. Oh, and besides being overfat, I'm hypothyroid, too.  I'd like to see the "1's"  (and my new sexy body in a little black or red dress!), by the holidays.  I have crazy, strict goals for myself but I guess they were implemented for reason; to keep me going.  I'm not new to this loosing weight thing. I dropped 26-ish lbs back a year and a half ago--and gained back about 10 of it.  I'm not so much looking for a number with this...I'm looking to feel great...and great in my clothes.  My goal is to be a size 8 or 10.  Go me!

Anyway, I wish you all good luck and I'll be talking to you all!!!!

    Until another time...

    Meg

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

People use Alli along with a myriad of other plans and it seems to work well with them.  You may have to make some modifications in your South Beach diet though.  I don't know much about the diet, but I do know that Alli works by blocking 25% of the fat that we consume and excreting it from our bodies.  Therefore if you eat very few fats the Alli has nothing to excrete from your body and you're taking the pill in vain.  Do a little investigating and determine how much fat you can have on the South Beach diet versus the Alli plan.  Remember, Alli does not work with a diet that is extremely low in fat.  The key to successful weight loss is a simple mathematical equation.  If you consume fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight.  This is true no matter which weight loss plan you follow, although some are much healthier than others.  The Alli plan is a very healthy plan to follow but it must be followed correctly in order to see good results.  Most of us tend to forget that 'good results' is 1-2 lbs per week.  We all want to look fabulous 'yesterday' but that just simply isn't going to happen.  We are working on a lifestyle change, and that takes time.  We have to let go of old, unhealthy habits and adapt to new, healthy habits.  This is a tremendous challenge for most of us.  We can do this.  We just have to really, really want it.  Stay focused on your goals and you will succeed no matter what steps you take to get there.  You might not get there as quickly as you want to, but that's OK.  Once you're there you will not be concerned with how long it took you to get there.  You'll just be thrilled with your healthier body, wonderful appearance, and increased self esteem.

Re: The Furious 80+ Weight-loss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

Hi ladies, I hope all is well.  All I can say is thank God the weekend is over.  I went to so many bbq that I don't want to see another one in a long time.  I did good, but I hate when people try to give you food to eat and you tell them no thank you and they look at you like what's wrong with you.  Some of my husband friend's wife was upset and she thought I didn't like her cooking (well I don't), but I told her that I was on alli and she asked me if it really work and I told her it does if you work the plan.  She thought that she could eat anything she wanted, take the pill and she would lose weight.  When I told her it dosen't work that way she looked at me funny and left me alone,  I just laugh so hard.  Then I went to my parents who wanted me to take food home and I wouldn't.

I had to vent a little.  Well anyway, I lost 2 pounds this week.  I hope you ladies have a great week.

     Good evening, people...

I hope everyone is doing well.  Today was another great day.  I did well with my diet and tomorrow and setting up shop for my workout.  We all have a lot of work to do.  So let's refocus and make this thing happen.

I have to run but you all know how much I hate to keep it short. So until tomorrow, get those weigh-ins in and push it, baby.

     Hey guys,

How is everyone doing?  I haven't posted in a few weeks I went on vacation (finally).  Sometimes to keep my sanity I have to step away from the boards, too, or it feels like I start obsessing about weight loss.

Been hanging in there, stepped up the working out again. I'm trying to get at 5 days a week at 30 mins instead of 4 days at 30.

I went to the beach for the first time in years last week and I even got in a bathing suit and went swimming.  Okay, okay, I wore boy swimming trunks and a woman's top, but that's still something.  If men can wear board shorts to the beach, so can I.

Re: The Furious 80+ Weightloss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

SL-congrats on the weight loss, 2 pounds is a big deal.  I gained back about 14 of the pounds I lost while taking alli (I've since taken off most of the weight I gained) and you'd be suprised how much of a difference every little pound makes.  I thought that losing 10 pounds was no big deal, then I gained 10 pounds and saw a HUGE difference.

Nancy-I know where you're coming from with starting Alli yet agan.  I think I've been off and on Alli for about 3 times.  I've finally figured out that I can't/won't do it on my own.  I need help.  Alli won't do it all for you, but it's a big help.  It's kind of funny, the other day I was at my friends house and they were saying how a girl lost a lot of weight taking Alli.  And they made fun of her because she said that she'd been working out a lot and eating less.  They were like, yeah, right, the Alli took the weight off.  I was so confused because I didn't think that people actually thought that you can simply take a pill and it will do all the work.  NOTHING works like that.  I tried to explain that the girl most certainly had worked hard to get the weight off, but I don't think I got through to anyone.

Re: The Furious 80+ Weightloss Group (Let's Do It, People!)...

     What's going on ladies!

SL looking good, girl.  Keep up the good work.  I weigh in on Saturday so I can't wait to get there especially since I just started a new workout called HipHop Abs.  Shaun T's workouts are so intense that my legs still feel like spaghetti even though I did the workout last night.  But I embrace the burn, baby.  That means that this workout is going to get me closer to my goal from this point on.  I am so sore but it feels good to know that I stayed committed to my workout.  I gave myself a break today from the workout, however, b/c I don't want to overwork my already sore muscles and end up paying for it later.  So I'm going to go at it again tomorrow night and rotate my workouts in between.  I am thankful to a friend and co-worker of mine that let me borrow one of the DVDs from the HipHop Abs collection.  I wanted to order it myself but I'm on a budget and you know how that can go - rob Peter to pay Paul.  So she is going to let me burn all of her DVDs at no charge.  I love it.

Well today my diet, for the most part, was good.  I did have a little birthday cake but trust I can burn that off and more with my new workout and the Alli capsules.  Otherwise, today was another great day.

Aisha... good to have you back girl. I think we all were on vacation for a little bit.  I definitely can understand a little break here and there but come back.

Nancy... welcome to the crew.  We can do this.  It does call for a huge effort on your part but that is what we all are here for -  to help you stay motivated and focused on your goal.  Hope you brought your A-game?

Well, ladies, off to another great day and a much bigger effort to make this week's weigh-in off the hook.

    See you on the flip...
