Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

one-pound-at-time-you can take alli i believe up to 30 mins after you eat as far as a work out routine-i walked everyday for at least 30 mins. then when i stopped losing i started high-low impact aerobics 3 x week for an hr. any kind of exercise you do is gonna be beneficial and of course it will boost your weight loss...i haven't exercised in a while b/c of time constraint but as long as i take the pills and follow a low fat/low cal diet i still lose. best of luck in you losing.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hey Everybody:

Yesterday was check in day.  I was down one pound, then broke my own rule this morning and weighed again.  Sometime during the night that ol' pound found its way back to my thighs!  How disheartening!  I will not weigh again until my official weigh in date on Friday, during which time that darn pound had better vacate my thighs again and take a couple of buddies with it!  I finally got up to walking one whole mile yesterday.  Hubby was funny, hovering around in the yard and suggesting that I stop after every lap.  (We live on 9 acres and have a nice trail encircling our land which is an ideal place to walk.  It was built to exercise the horses on but it is now my official walking trail.  Hubby gets nervous when I walk on the road because it is a typical rural road, narrow and winding and cars think it is the freeway if you know what I mean)   The dreadmill continues to gather dust per doctor's orders.  The only bad thing about walking outside is it is so darn hot and humid here in the South, even if you get out early.

I am happy to see so many newbies on this thread.  Everyday almost I notice a new name.  I still miss Maggie and Martha.  Martha just disappeared one day and never came back.  We all know what Maggie is going through.  I am sure she will be back when she can.

Now Wendy, unless there was a typo in you message, you are down 2 lbs, so why are you beating yourself up???  It is rare for me to lose 2 lbs in one week.  Besides, the thing to focus on is that you're still trying.  As long as you're still trying you're still a winner.  (er, or should I say a loser, cause that's what we all wanna be.)

I intended to hit a few sales today because the stores all have their sandals marked way down right now.  All the pretty ones will be gone soon.  I need some new, hot sandals for when I can wear them again.  I love pretty sandals.  Y'all can keep the high heels.  Give me a pair of sandals any day.  Well, it doesn't look like I will make it to the mall today after all.  I hope y'all are all having great days.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

When I actually started dieting, my current weight was 242 before starting the Alli plan. My goal is to get down to 145. I managed to get down to 226 in about a 3 month period using another diet. I was hoping to lose a little faster using the Alli plan. I have been on it almost two weeks. I lost 6 lbs the first week. My next check in date is July 14. I will post how I did.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I'm new to alli today and new to posting. My start weight is 211 and my goal is 150. I'm nerves about not being able to stick to the plan. I have 2 teenage boys and I'm a single parent. We eat fairly healthy anyway. My problem is not eating enough and feining off breads and pastries. I'm going to take it one day at a time. I'm going to walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes today.

I'm not sure where to locate everything I need in all those little books that I received. Can someone tell me how many portions of each food catagory we are to consume a day. I believe my caloric intake is 1800, up to 600 per meal and fat. cal. is 15-18 per meal with no more than 60 per day.

Also, what category does honey fall in and what are the serving sizes?

I'll check in again to share how this is working for me, and keep motivated?

    Thanks,

    Cynthia

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi Cynthia~

I'm also new to alli, started the 12th.  I'm at 200 and want to get to 145, so we're pretty close in the goals.

In answer to your question, I've just been going to the meal plan and actually looking things up to see what is acceptable on my 1400 cal per day plan.  If you go into the meal plan down at the bottom it has a group of selection on the left side use the define new food icon then use the search, if you come up with a food you can click on the name and it will bring up all there is to know that is important, pretty much a food label.

There really aren't any "groups" I don't think, just well balanced.  You'll see if you're messing up when you enter your food into the log.  That's why I do the log first thing in the morning for what I'll be eating.  It keeps me on track and I don't have to think about it the rest of the day.  I check it in the evening when I enter in my activity for the day and make any adjustments if I need to.  So far it seems to be working well for me.

My mirror is taunting me this week...I'm not sure that I've lost any weight but I'm going to hold out until my weigh in on Monday morning before I get discouraged!  I've been on a low fat diet with a good exercise plan for a very long time...without losing weight.  I quit smoking about 7 months ago and gained almost 30 lbs..but it was worth it to be smoke free!

    Good Luck!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Yes,  just take the pill with meals that are at least 5 grams of fat.  You're doing a good job tracking your fat intake.  Now, make sure you get enough fat into your meals daily or the Alli won't work properly.  It is designed to remove fat from your meals and if you eat little or no fat there is nothing for Alli to remove.  If this sounds confusing to you, read the posts at the beginning of the message boards that were written by Betty Kovacs.  She explains why you need to reach your calorie and fat grams  daily in order for Alli to work.  So don't sabotage yourself by not following the plan correctly.  Don't waste a pill by taking one when you're eating very Little fat, but do make sure you're getting enough fat every day so Alli can work well for you.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hey, we are all friends on this thread so you've come to the right place.  13 lbs in one month is great, especially as you can't exercise.  Just do what you can physically as any and all movement helps.  I have been unable to exercise for several weeks due to surgery, and I have discovered that even if you just do simple exercises while watching TV it all adds up.  Don't sit still.  Be fidgety.  Flex your muscles in your arms and legs.  Do simple leg lifts if you are able.  Suck in your tummy as tight as you can and slowly twist as far as you can from side to side, either sitting or standing.  Get some light weights and lift them while you sit watching TV and gradually increase the size of the weights as you gain strength.  Press the palms of your hands together and hold for several seconds.  Press your palms against a table and do the same.  Simple isometrics such as these are good for conditioning your muscles.  There are tons more.  Just look up isometrics online and you'll find dozens that you can do with limited physical ability.  Post often and let us know how you're doing.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi I'm Heather and I am new to Alli.  I took my first pill at breakfast today!!!  I have tried many weightloss programs in the past but I am determined to make a change in my life and keep it off...I think I have found the place to help me with that.

I'm 38 and have a 14 year old daughter.  My starting weight was 197 current weight is 187 and goal weight (for now) is 130.  I'm 5'1 so I may change that when I get to 130 but we will see =)

I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys and getting to my goal weight!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi Heather:

At 5' 2" I too am 'vertically challenged.'  It looks as if  you have already lost 10 lbs just by eating healthy prior to starting the pill.  You're off to a great start.  This thread is the place to be for friendship, support and encouragement.  Let us know how your first weigh in goes.  Alli does work for those who work with it.  You'll get out of it what you put into it.  So, watch what you eat, exercise regularly, and drink that water until it is coming out of your ears!  Seriously, the water makes a difference.  This is a lifestyle change.  A big one for most of us.  So be prepared for ups and downs and maybe a tear or two along the way, but lots of happy dances too.  We are all here for you so check in often.  We all laugh, cry, whine, rejoice, (you name it) together.  We're happy to have you join us.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi:

It isn't average, but isn't it wonderful?  Some of it was probably water weight, but that's OK.  It should inspire you to stay motivated and focused.  Just make sure you get enough calories and fat every day for Alli to work properly. "Less" is not better with Alli.  Try to stay within the guidelines that Alli set for you when you signed up.  You can expect your weight to taper off after a few weeks, so don't be alarmed or discouraged if that happens.  Most of us lose an average of 1-2 lbs per week.  Keep posting and let us know how things go for you.

there was an error in my last message, the one that said "good news"......I meant to say i started at 382 and i am down to 373 not 273...it was just a typo......but i am still happy....but something doesn't seem right. i lost 9 pounds since wednesday?and my scale is 100% accurate.
