Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I'm having a depressing moment that's not wanting to go away.

I didn't do too good this weekend,I didn't take any alli cuz I knew I wasn't eating right.

Has anyone ever just wanted to stop & give up?I'm at that point.I know I've only been

on alli for alittle over a week, but there's other stuff too.I have to admit,I haven't been happy in awhile,I've had moments, but not many.

Sorry,I just had the need to chat.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Everybody goes through a rough spot from time to time.  You need to remind yourself why you bought that bottle of Alli in the first place.  Focus again on what Alli can help you achieve if you don't give up.  I don't know what the source of your depression is, but you have to fight it and not succumb to it.  Sometimes we feel like life is beating us down.  You have to find the strength to fight through depression.  Think about the good things in your life instead of the negative.  Tomorrow is a brand new day for a brand new start.  Get back on track.  Don't try to manage your whole life; just manage one day at a time.  You can do anything for 24 hours.  So for 24 hours try to stay on the program, take your pill, exercise, and drink your water.  Just for 24 hours.  Then the next morning do the same thing.  If you take a step backward, that's OK.  Just start moving forward again.  It can seem overwhelming if you focus too much on how much weight you need to lose.  Just focus on the here and now and what you need to do today.  All you can do, anyway, is live in today.  Face the tomorrows when they get here.  Work on one pound at a time.  You can do it.  Come to the message boards often for support and encouragement.  Please let us know how you're doing.  I hope your dark mood passes quickly.

     Liz,

you have become quite the Nyla.. between you Nyla Janet Amber and now so many newbies. Your encouraging words are wonderful. I've been reading and catching up from Friday. Those of you who have the gift of uplifting people and inspiring others have no idea what it does for others. We all have the same trips and falls and I'm reminded every time I log on, that we are really lucky to have one another to bounce feelings and experience off of. It is a comfortable place for me to come.

Thank you for being so kind!

     Hi Robin,

Your stats are very similar to mine.  When this site changed so did my friends, I think.  I need some support and buddies.  I wish I opnly had 10 pounds instead of 60.  Trying to workout is extremely difficult for me physically.  And my head is in such a bad state from nasty people saying that I look more puffy than ususal.  That's what 2 people told me over the weekend.

    Talk soon

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi Carol,

I know sometimes people's thoughtless remarks can really hurt but I have learned to depend on myself to bring myself up not on other peple.  That can be true in just about every area not just weight loss.  I was getting a little depressed this week since the scales have been at a standstill but I went looking for something that would lift me up and I found it.  I went thru my clothes to see what was loser and found a shirt I love but that was way to tight to button the sleeves on my upper arms.  They were too tight and cut off my circulation but today they are buttoned and I can get 2 fingers under them.  Yeah me!!!  So look for the good things happening,  even if they are not obvious to other people and those nasty remarks will roll right off.  You know you are getting healthier one day at a time and that is all that matters.

As for working out I found little things really work.  I have physical therapy 3 times a week so that helps a lot but also when I am sitting at the computer I have some ankle weights that I joined together and lift with each arm several times and I hardly realize I am doing it.

    Talk to you soon, Robin

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     HI Crystal,

I am with you..I amnew at this Alli and successful dieting thing. I starter about three weeks ago and havbe lost about 8 pounds so far. I work at home and sit at my computer all day for the last 5 years.NOW,I walk at lunch about 2.4 miles and try to do it agin at night....dont always get both in. I am eating low fat meals, mainly NutraSystem, protien/fruit/veggies for snacks, and eating several small meals/day instead of three basic ones. I am not cheating and staying off the jnunk food althogher. I amafraid I may not be taking in enough fat grams. I need to count my calories better, maybe that is the key. I hate counting any food, I just want to eat right and watch the weight fall off!

I am going to Vegas in 1 month...I want to look GOOD..at least better than I did!  I want to feel like I look better. If I keep going and the Alli works, i should be at almost 20 pounds down by then......probably wishful thinking...but its a goal!!!!

I like this thread, I need the motivation from  you all and want to help motivate you as well. TEAMWORK to get thinner!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi' I've been reading some of the posts the last week and a half and so many seem to be so motivated and know what their doing.  Tomorrow will be my second check in and I'm hoping I'm down.  I'm the one that had the big out of town wedding this weekend,  Wedding on Saturday and then a breakfast brunch and gift opening at the parent's house on Sunday Morning.  WHEW!  you should have seen the spread.  The food was excellent, but I did take several of the pointers from some of my cries for help last Thursday.  I actually switched my chicken with my son-in-law because he didn't like the baked walleye.  The chicken had a hollandaise sauce on it and I've had so much chicken the last couple of weeks, the fish was refreshing.  Had two small bites of cake and then gave the rest of my piece to my skinny husband.  Sunday morning was not easy either, but they did have an egg bake and fruit bowl, so stayed away from the gooey sticky buns and other high fat high calorie food.  But I still feel like I ate more than I should have.  Tomorrow will tell the tale.  ??   I also just read a post about not eating enough fat and calories and wasting the alli pill.  I'm afraid I do that too often.  I am not eating 1800 calories a day or 19 fat grams per meal, which was what my guideline was.  That just seems like way more than you need to lose weight.  My starting weight was 205 andI I was at 202 last check in  and I want to make it to 160 or maybe more when I get to that weight.  I'll be excited just to get under 200 again.  Before, when I would lose weight, I could get to 195, then give up and put it back on..  I'm so ready to keep going this time.  Just wanted to express my feelings tonight and thought I'd share my thoughts.  Will post again tomorrow after check in.  Have a great evening everyone.

    Good luck Crystal.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi, my second weigh in is tomorrow also.  I am a little worried.  My Grandpa just came for his yearly visit.  Our deal has always been that this is the week when he doesn't have to follow his strict diet.  So....I cooked (mostly fried) a lot of high fat foods this week.  I tried to be good but I did eat some fried catfish one night, fried squash another, I tried to keep small portions but....I didn't take my alli as I was worried about TE's.  I started on my own at 187. I was 180 when I started my alli and down to 176 at last weigh in.  I posted once before but then lost where I posted when they changed.  I remember someone saying that loseing a pound was the same as losing 4 sticks of butter.  I now keep a stick of butter where I can see it everytime I open the fridge.  I love reading the boards, very inspirational.....  I will post my results tomorrow.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     tlc5853....

It sounds like you did really well over a very tempting weekend!  That is so wonderful!  Sometimes we take those small accomplishments for granted, but it the combination of all of those small steps that will make us all successful!  I just had my first weigh in and I lost 4 lbs.!  My starting weight was 240 and according to the alli plan, I'm in the same boat with needing to eat 1800 calories and 19 grams of fat.  I can't do it.  I'm eating under 1600 calories and can barely make it to 15 grams of fat per meal.  Reading several posts from Betty Kovacs (an RN), you're right, we need to be trying to get to that 15 grams of fat per meal to lose weight.  I don't feel hungry with under 1600 calories, so I'm going to stick with that for a while.  I also exercize at least 6 days a week (30 minutes a day).  It's the fat grams that I'm  having a hard time with.  It sounds like we need at least that much fat to lose weight which goes against all of the diet plans we saw in the 80's & 90's.  I find that if I'm no where close to the 15 grams of fat at a meal, I'm eating a tablespoon of peanut butter to help get me there.  It's so weird.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I'm in the same boat as you.  I just started on Alli and need to lose 80lbs.  It seems like an impossible number to get to.  I think I was a freshman in high school the last time I weighed that little, but other people have done it, so I have to keep telling myself I can get there.  There are those days when I just sit and cry though, feeling sorry for myself.  My husband is a bean pole.  He has been a bean pole his whole life.  He has two kids from a previous marriage and they are beans as well.  They can eat anything.  I was cleaning out my step-son's closet and found empty BOXES of Ho-Ho's and Twinkies.  He's 6ft tall and is probably 145lbs. dripping wet.  I look at a Twinkie and gain 3 lbs.  There are many of those days when I say that it is so unfair.  My genetics suck and all of the women in my family have been overweight. I start getting really down when I can't keep weight off by eating the same things that the bean poles eat. Then I get really mad at myself and use that "sorry for myself" attitude as motivation to get off my fat butt and go and exercize.   I can either get off my butt or keep crying about it, and crying doesn't burn as many calories.  I say lets go tell those people that made the "puffy" comments about you, that you are a much better person that that.  Those comments are so insensitive, it amazes me.  However, you can use it as motivation.  Don't get mad, get even.  Use those comments to push yourself just a little bit harder.  Walk an extra 10 minutes.  Sweat a little bit more and show them that you are the better person.

     Hi Robin,

Thanks for your inspiring words.  That's great about your shirt being loose now.  It's a wonderful thing when you try an item on and it's big! I hate the upper arm thing too.  I have different exercises I am trying to reduce my arms.  Stretch resistant bands have been useful.

    Bye 4 now
