Hi suffolklady,
I started alli yesterday and like you have been on WW. I am doing it on my own right now. I've done it so many times, I know it by heart! I agree with Cheri about exercise. You really do have to use up more than you put in. When I reach a plateau, I find that exercise will usually start the loss again. Another thing I found is to go back to the first stage of WW and start over. That will also restart your metabolism. I have an aunt who lost a lot of weight on WW and has been a long time WW counselor. She has told me that the program works best when you follow the food combinations that they suggest. There's something about the fish, veggies and fruits and milk product combo that really works. Try to limit your breads to three per day and eat the minimum amount of fat. It's also true that you shouldn't eat after 7:00 PM and eat your heavy meal at breakfast and make your evening meal the lightest.
With all this info , you'd think I would be a skinny mini - but I'm not. I was approaching 215 pounds when I was 49. I made a vow to lose 50 pounds by my 50th birthday. I lost down to 155 and did it with a weight loss product sold on QVC. I lost it too fast and promptly developed gall bladder attacks and had to have surgery to remove it. That was 7 years ago and I went back up to 182. I was determined not to go any higher. I started WW two weeks ago and have lost 6 pounds.
The hardest part for me is keeping motivated. I already feel better and I know I look better. This time I am thinking in terms of lifestyle change, not diet, because I finally realize that in my case, it has to be an ongoing process. I'm hoping that the message boards will help me this time. I really don't have friends who need to lose.
Someone asked Robin McGraw on Dr. Phil one day how she continued to look so good and stay so slim. Her reply was that she made the conscious decision in her twenties that she could either maintain what she had or let herself go and spend time later trying to regain it. Wish I had been that insightful in my twenties!!
Anyway, good luck to you and I hope you have a wonderful time at your sister's party. I know you will!
