Just trying to clarify the difference in "journal" and "nutrition log"......
There have been many posts that you should journal. I use the actual "journal" to record any problems I encounter such as meeting or not meeting my calorie and fat counts as notes to myself.
In doing that, I have found that when I have TEs I can see exactly what caused it. For instance, I had a chinese lunch one day and had a steak for dinner - exceeded my fat count big time - had TEs the next day. Some days I have slightly exceeded my fat intake for a meal without getting TEs.
I use the nutrition log to log EVERYTHING I eat. It is great to keep up with all aspects of you intake...calories, fat, cholestoral, carbs, fiber, etc. I find it very interesting and am battling with getting everything balanced. I can't seem to get enough carbs & fiber without going over calories and/or fat intake. I know that I have to make sure the calories and fat counts are within my range and usually have a hard time getting enough calories but do no have any trouble getting enough fat!!!
I started Alli on July 22 with my first checkin on Saturday, August 2nd - had a loss of 7 lbs. I have not weighed this week but do not feel that I am losing. I will weigh on the 8th to see if I made my goal in the 8lbs lost by 08/08/08 challenge - hopefully I will be down at least 1lb or more to meet that challenge and am anxious to checkin again on Saturday. It is fun to see the charted weight loss especially if it shows a downward slope toward goal.
Didn't mean to vent so much. Haven't posted in a few days so I got carried away.
Hope it is helpful and will give you some ideas on how you want to use your "journal" and "nutrition log".
Good luck to everyone - Carolyn

Anything worth having is worth working for! Weight loss is work, work, work...so hang in there, it's worth it.
