Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

     Welcome Beth,

I have only managed to walk 6 1/2 miles so far due to a knee injury slowing me up...so even if you start now you will catch up to me pretty fast.  I'm like the tortoise of the tortoise and the hare...so, but sure.  Thank goodness I have till Labor Day to get my miles in!

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Hi.  Here's the daily medal update.

As of 11:21 ET, 8/16/2008, the USA has 16 Gold, 16 Silver and 22 Bronze according to MSN.com.

SO, AS OF TODAY, THE TOTAL CHALLENGE MILES: 29.5 MILES.  Wow, another big jump.  Get those shoes on!

Bee's personal tally: In addition to my usual workout, I did 1 extra mile last night, bringing me to 17 3/4 miles total.  I hope to add more today.

It is nice to see everyone's total climbing.  Sorry to hear of the knee problem, Pam.  You are welcome to cut back or substitute another activity (biking or rowing maybe) if you find something easier on the knee.  The challenge is short term fun, but you'll have that knee forever.  Take good care of it.  Everyone else take care, too.

    Bee

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Did another two hours on the treadmill last night...it was tough. I have been doing 1 hour in the a.m. and another hour at night...but yesterday I had to go to work early.

    anyway...add 6.2 miles to my previous total of 27.9 and I'm at 34.1  !!

Thanks for letting me join so late...My total is up to 5 miles (2 yesterday, 3 today). I need to do at least 3-4 daily to catch up.

Pam- I admire you for persevering w/ your knee injury. It's always the tortoise who wins in the end! Keep up the good work!

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

     Good morning all.

Here's the medal update.   As of 8/18, 7:19 PM ET, the USA has 19 Gold, 22 Silver, and 25 Bronze.  Aren't our athletes wonderful.  And providing us with such a big challenge, too.

TOTAL CHALLENGE MILES TO DATE:  36 1/4 MILES.  GO GO GO.

Bee's personal tally:  I did an extra 5 1/2 miles yesterday, bring me to 26 1/2 challenge miles.  9 3/4 to catch up.  It is so much easier for me to do some extra on the weekends, but I'm going to try to ramp it up a bit this week.  Maybe I can do my 8 "Phelps miles"  this week.

Hope everyone still loves a challenge.  Have fun and stay safe.
