    Re: **marathons

Rhonda, I am going to give it my best shot.  I walk a lot now, some days 10 miles in a stretch.  I am going to start jogging again soon (I hate running in the heat).  Will have a couple of weeks that I don't know how much I can exercise.  I have to go to Wisconsin for 17  days for work...don't know how much free time I'll have during that time.  But the hotel I am staying at has a pool and a fitness center.  So, hopefully I can get a little free time to go there.  Last November I ran in a 5K and did a respectful time, coming in about middle of the pack, and I had never run before.  But an 82 year old man beat me.  Now, granted, he probably has been running all his life, and I haven't, but that made me mad!!!!  To think that someone that much older than me was in better condition than me.  So, I intend to do better this year.  Just have to get back into the habit.   Good luck on your training, too.  Keep me informed.

To the new and improved us!!!!

LOL yeah I know. Its funny I was so happy when I saw the scale drop that I had to tell someone. So I called my best friend and she gave me her normal reply... 'Its all water wieght' I just laughed... Only if she knew.

I just want to say Welcome. If you really want to know where that 5 pounds went, "Look in the toilet" I have the same problem with exercising that you do. Its too bad watching a exercise show on TV doesn't do it. I have been on since Feb 14 and have lost 38 pounds. 62 to go

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Thank you so... And yes you have me right on about being the type of person that needs to learn from experinces. I am hard headed like that. I think I might finally have the diet down. At least today I feel semi normal. I guess I should have thought about the 24-48 lag and took it easy for a few days to see what happens. But boy did I learn my lesson there.

My son is one of the many reason's I am trying to loss weight. I want to see him grow up and with my family history if I dont do something soon... I might not. My family for the most part are all in great shape, however everyone in my family seems to suffer from a stroke or heart attack in their early 40's. I am 28 now (soon 29) and I have carried this weight since I was 16... So I can just image the toll my body has taken from carrying all this weight. And I know that if I dont do something soon, I might not be able to see my son graduate high school. So there is a huge push for me.

Then there is the whole... Single mother... Would love to settle down and get married thing. However with my size I have found that finding that is extermely hard in a society that judges people by the way they look.

So I have the reasons... Now I just need to do it.

    Hi Acota71:

I read your post and loved the message you have to share.  I am the type of person who needs to learn things the hard way and it seems that you are the same way.  I'm sorry to hear about the TE's for you, but as you have already learned--you need to make different choices.

There is a woman at my work.  She is very nice and quite large--she started to go on Weight Watchers (but not going through the meetings or weekly weigh-ins). She said she was doing it with her cousins.  Well, I still do the WW myself (it works for me) and I shared that I am down about 16 lbs and asked how she was doing with the program and she said "well, I'm not going crazy with the WW thing and I am happily maintaining".  Sounded good; however, all it meant was she spent money on the books and hasn't lost a pound.    I guess we all have our reasons for getting where we are and we all have our different motivations for losing.

You said you are a single mother--I would think that son would be motivation enough.  Just to sit and play with your son--what a treasure.  I think you are going to do beautifully on this program--you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders.

If there is anything we can do to help you--just say the word.

Again, thank you for sharing your story.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi Acota71:

Thanks for writing again.  You should print your reasons for wanting to lose weight and post it to your mirror.  When you get ready in the morning--re-read it--it will help keep you on track.  Also, when you are looking in the mirror don't forget to smile and remember that you are so worth--and tell yourself how beautiful you are.

Work on this first, for you and your son, and the other thing will work itself out--it is terrible that the world does judge on looks.  Another reason to see if you can show the inner beauty outwardly.

Take care and keep on writing.

    Have a great weekend.

    >>Are we going to start a " OFF TO SCHOOL WAGON"???? Talk to everyone next week......When life is back to normal.......Lisa <<

Ha! You moms get the 'back to normal' and we teachers get your kids! I've been running myself ragged the last few days, getting my classroom set up.  I bought a pedometer, and found that in one day I had taken 4700+ steps, which is something like walking nearly 2 miles -- not something I would think I could do due to my disability.  But I sneaked a peek at the scale and saw that I was losing again, after that unexplained gain last week. That is encouraging!

But I am going to splurge tomorrow and have barbequed ribs -- 6 of them with sauce are a whopping 64 grams of fat!  it will be interesting to see if I can still eat 6, given my smaller appetite.  This will be the first going off the Ali diet in 6 weeks.  But I absolutely LOVE ribs!  I will just ask the hubby not to buy them again until I reach goal weight. Next year.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Lisa--It is so good to hear from you! Sure have missed ya. My summer time with kids is almost over. They go back on Monday (25th) personally, I cant wait. It seems the last few weeks they fight over anything. it is crazy. The bad thing is that it is so dang hot that they are stuck in the house all the time and getting on each others nreves (and mine! LOL). It is funny how if we are somewhere inside or like at their Uncles pool....they get along great. #1 not bored #2 not burning up. Anyways, I am sure you had a good ol long break with the kids and as much as you love them dearly...are needing a break! I think that after kids start school again they should make like a national "moms break" week! With nothing but massages and spa treatments and mixed drinks and we can eat anything without adding an ounce! hahaha

I think having a "back to school wagon" is in the works. I will have more time to be on after they are all gone next week. I am glad that you have been holding stady. Good for you. I am pretty much in that same boat. I have been hanging at the same 188-189 for like 7 weeks or so. It just seems that I could not get ANY exercise in (besides running after kids) but I have held as well. I am pretty proud of that! Plus I just had not really had all the food that I usually have for ME. Summer with the kids home like triples the grocery bill, so not much $ left to shop for mom food! LOL But just got started again and hit 185.2 the other day....so I am on my way....I hope!

What was the Art Competition? What kind of Art? Sounds like you all had fun. Congrats to your daughter. Well I will chat with ya later. It was great hearing from you and definately looking forward to the new Wagon!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Ok, let me try to catch up a little...If I miss anyone...sorry!

sarawrrr--Wow to be 20 again! The good thing is that you are tackleling this now. You are young and believe me it is easier at a young age. I think most of us will agree with that. Not saying you have it easier than anyone else, but for you it will be better now than later. Ya know! Plus you are having an early insight to the 'lifestyle change' and that will prepare you for the future. I wish you the best of luck and if you need anything, just yell!

stephlowen--Hang in there girl and dont give up! You can do this. Just take it day by day (minute by minute)and you will be just fine. Just remember that we are all here for the same overall reason...so lean on us when you need to. But whatever you do....do not give up! This is your life and you need to focus on you! We will help you any way we can.

ma88ieMay--Dang girl, you are doing great. Congrats on the total of 38lbs gone forever. Keep going!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

acota71--Well all I can say is..you prettty much said it yourself....that you have proven you can do this. When you went from 335 down to 240...you kicked butt. That is awesome. Sorry about the TE's...but hey on the bright side...you know what NOT to do allready! You are now ahead of the game. Just keep in mind that it can take like up to 3 days to have the TE's from a meal. I am very proud of you for getting a treadmill...step in the right direction. It is hard sometimes to fit the working out into our busy lives (I know!!!) but you are really making the effort by just getting some way to do your exercise while at home! Good for you! No excuses...good for you! Hang in there and keep us posted.

CONGRATS on the 5lbs loss so far...great start! Very proud of you!!!!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

q8penpals--- sounds like you are really ready for this! I would love to join curves...but not any extra $$$ right now. My mom was doing it a few years back, but then had a heart attack and could only do her therapy stuff and had to put Curves on hold. But she said she loved it too. So, I stick to my Air Climber (AC) and some dvd's and FITTV programs. I always wanted to join there just so I could get out of the house for 30 minutes without a kid hanging on me! hahaha Well, I want to wish you the best and just yell if you need anything at all. This sight is the best! Although sometimes it may take a little while to get through all of the post...we will get to ya! This thread has really grown with a new newbie like every day...so sometimes we (the longtimers...LOL) take longer to get back with everyone. Anyways, hang in there and keep us posted on how things are going. I am sure you will do great. Especially with all of that 'sport' background.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

    Good morning, Nyla:

Things are going well!  I chose not to weigh in last Friday.  I didn't journal at all last week, so I was afraid of weight gain. So it's Monday and I'm back on the horse again--figuritively speaking, of course.

Less then two weeks and we will get the puppy--so I am very excited about that.  Once we bring him home, we will settle on the name and I will post it--since so many people have given suggestions.

I think we are down to three name choices (Bob--not short for Robert; Yogi and Cash).  We just want to said and see what he does when we bring him home.  I think Hershey will love him--he was playing will a one-year old boxer this weekend and had so much fun--he is quite sore now.  He acted like a puppy but his 8 years have caught up to him.

Okay, I must get back to work.

    Take care,

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Good Morning All. I think we are all looking forward to the kids getting back to school. I know I am.  I was in Curves for a while. I thought it was expensive and unfortunately I found I couldn't do the whole circuit without a rest in between. I am a lifetime member of Ballys. As soon as school starts I will be back there. I like the other things too after a workout such as  the pool and whirlpool.  I am holding steady.  Saturday we had a block party.  It looked like I gained 6 pounds. No I did not eat 20,000  extra calories. But I had a couple Margaritas. Seems like that was enough to hold the fluid on for a couple days./ Doing much better today. Back down to my normal. Looking forward to losing a pound or  two this week. Have a great week all

    Maggie
