Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

     Hey Kim,

I am not computer savy.  I call myself the turn on turn off girl at work.  I can turn the computer on and turn it off that is about it, lol.  To upload a pictures you just push the browse button then go out into where you have the pictures saved on your computer.  I thumbnail view them so I know which shot I want then double click on the picture.  Then it puts some letters in the browser window of the my allie website. I think you select upload then in a few minutes your picture is in the circle.  Let me know if you need more help. If I can do it anyone can.

How are you liking Alli.  I have not started it yet but will in a few weeks.  I hope it works for me. Nothing ever does even the gastric bypass didnt take all the weight I wanted off.  I am going to think positive and change many habits to make sure this medicine is the ticket.

Happy Halloween and have a great day!

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

Hello all. I began alli on Monday and need this to work for me. I just had my second baby (2 months old Sunday) and gained way more weight with this one than the first. I still have 20 pounds left to loose to get back to my original weight. UUUGGGHHH! it is so hard to stay on track. I have already had some treatment effects and it is so miserable I vow to not go there again...but I am looking for support as well. My check in days are Fridays so I will see tomorrow what the scale looks like. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I feel. Good luck everyone and let's keep each other's spirits up. We can do this!

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

     Megan,

I have lost 2pds. The hardest part for me is not letting it get me frustrated. I exercise at least 4 or 5 times a week that involves walking 3 miles with a walking DVD and cardio for 30 min.. I did not have a weight problem when I was younger, it started 20 yrs ago and I just can't get it off. I am trying to stay off the scales I have a bad habit of weighing everyday. I am bound and determined to stay on Alli. My doctor was the one who suggested that I give Alli a chance, so here I am.

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

    Hi all!

I started Alli this week and admit that I'm a bit nervous. I have been pretty heavy my whole life, but only now do I realize that I'm so close to having serious health problems because of my weight. I have a pretty healthy self-esteem, but like a lot of people, have a few things about me that I'm not too happy about.  I believe I comfort eat when I'm stressed, and of course I associate food with happy times. But I need to get past that and learn new habits! I want this to be a life changing experience for the better. I want to be able to travel and not be nervous about appearing like a bad American stereotype to foreign countries. I want to be comfortable in my cloths and with my physical appearance. I want to be a role model for other women who struggle with themselves about their worth.. I'm also in a very healthy happy relationship with my partner. We have been living together for 8 months and our three year anniversary was in September. Needless to say I feel like I have everything but a healthy body. And although I do not plan on getting married anytime soon, I do not want to regret my size..

My schedule has also been an issue for a while. I've been working full time and going to school full time since I was 19. For a year and half I was working the graveyard shift for a call-center.. and if working for a call center was not stressful enough, working at night was even more tough. All we had were vending machine food if we didn't bring our lunch and I'm one to wait to do everything at the last minute and preparing lunch was just not that high on my list of things to do- So! I gained quite a lot of weight rather quickly. Um, when I would get off of work at 6:30 AM it was off to school until 12 or so.

I later moved to a regular shift and started going to night classes.. And now I'm at a different job, and I love it! I feel that the company promotes a healthy lifestyle. The company, although I'm sure they are not aware of it, has contributed to my new found desire to become healthy. So from work, I go straight to school and then home to sleep.

Um. I'm sorry to be typing so much.. I guess my main excuse was my work and school- but my habits were the biggest factor- oh and not being active- I was at a desk job and then at another desk for school.

So now, I'm at the heavyiest I've ever been and hope I can make it through getting smaller.. hopefully. I have a major goal of 100lbs in (hopefully) a year to a year and a half...

Maybe this time I can make it work. :)

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

     HI megan,

I started the alli program oct. 19 and have lost 9 lbs so far. I also heard bad things about alli. Mostly they invovled the treatment effects but, those people were just looking for a quick fix and I doubt they stuck to a low fat diet. I have stuck to 15-19 grams of fat per meal and so far I have not had any of the problems they are spoke about. Anyways hope this helps and good luck with everything

    Hi vivian.olivia,

Your not alone, I also started this program this week. I too am nervous and I don't take disappointments well. My bigest fear is the possibility of a accident or "treatment effects". That in itself may keep me from eating anything. I have a goal of about 30-40lbs and emotional eating is a big reason I also  have gained unwanted weight. I have become an empty nester this past year and now live with myself, not always fun, and become bored alot easier and then it's numerous trips to the fridge. I also began the dating scene after a divorce that was over 3 yrs ago and the first date seems to be meeting and going to dinner. What happened with dance clubs? Anyway I would like to keep in touch and maybe we can support each other and help each other stay focused and also have some fun doing this life changing event. I will put you on my Fav' list and hopefully we can figure out this circle of friends!!!

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

I understood what you said completely... but I am not sure where to find the place to upload the photo. What part of this huge website?

Now on to better things, so far i have been on ALLI for 4 days and I have not noticed a single change. I will admit I am not eating close to 15 grams of fat per meal cause I am scared to try. I have'nt had one day that I have eaten over 1800 calories either. The weekly nutritional guide weekly summary on-line said i have averaged 1550 calories each day. So i guess I should be happy with that. I have also completed 60 minutes at the gym this whole week to.

I cant wait for tomorrow's weigh in!!!

How are you??? Stay positive... we can do this!!

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

I also started Alli - today. I am 180 pounds and am not very active. I use to be. I am 43 years old and want to be a healthy! I am thinking of getting a weighted walk vest - have you heard of these? It just seems that the more weight you loss the more your metabolism slows so I was thinking of adding the weights to the vest of the amount of weight I loss so my metabolism speeds up.

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

    Hey msrudy49,

I'm nervous too, but I've been trying to keep positive. I've been discussing my daily routine to a few friends to keep them informed but to also keep the subject (dieting, making healthier decisions) in my mind throughout the day. I think it's important to realize that we're not looking for dramatic results overnight rather results over time. Although I started Alli just this week, I measured myself today and found that I have lost 10lbs!! I believe that Alli contributed to at least 1lb of that, but all the other pounds were from the last few months. I haven't been active, but I have been making sure that I don't go to McDonalds and get a double quarter pounder with cheese like I used to do... heh. :) Overall, I've been trying to keep a little active (not really exercising) and making sure to stop eating when I'm full. I've also tried to pinpoint when I'm comfort eating. I still do it occassionally but try to limit the intake.

I forget sometimes, but your body talks to you. Being too full is an indication that your body did not want that much food. Being sad is your brain telling you something needs to change in your life. Feeling physical pain is your body telling you to stop what you're doing because you're "killing" yourself. All our bodies WANT to be in good physical health (not supermodels).

So with that in mind, don't be nervous!! Just do what makes yourself feel better- and I've realized that really fattening high-calorie foods make me feel bad.

Also, go out more! :) I love to go dancing! I'm sure you're beautiful! I get bored a lot when I'm not working, but realize that going to Barnes & Noble or Half Price Books is really fun,  or even going out to a nice park.. It's strange that there are so many things to do but I get bored- even... start a painting! Yea, anything to keep us active and awake- I remember after working so much I would just want to come home and sleep- even wake up and think about how I'm going to go back to sleep after work or school.. And that's not how life should be!

We can do this!! We just have to keep to it and before you know it, you'll have reached your goal and forget about all the boring days we've had when we were "bigger". :)

I'll try to figure out this Fav' thing and add you!

Hi! My name is Kenisha. I started taking alli last week. I don't know how much weight I've lost because I was too scared to get on the scale. I don't really know what my starting weight was. I hope we can do this thing together and keep each other strong.

Re: I started alli this week. Need a Friend to help support

     Hi Cinmumro,

It is great that you are starting an exercise program with the thought of increasing your metabolism along with the alli.  While a weighted vest is not a bad idea, it will not technically boost your metabolism.  It does add more weight as you walk and your body works a bit harder, but it is really only working the legs and not buidling muscle tone throughout.  You would like to do a combination of exercises for optimal effect and interval training (this is where you increase the intensity of the exercise for 2 minutes and then go back to normal and repeat the sequence-like walking then coming to a jog or run). Eating smaller meals throughout the day also keeps your metabolism up, which is why snacking is so important.

    Hope this helps.
