Remember this is a lifestyle change...you are going to have slip ups, birthday parties, graduations, weddings, family get togethers, and food will always be there! PORTION SIZES MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! And if you go over on cal or fat grams, just plan to do better tomorrow. Many of us beat ourselves up when we are not perfect! Guess what we aren't perfect...but we can do this. How many times have you tried to lose weight, followed some strict diet, fell off then said, "oh well, I might as

Brandipope; You are starting out GREAT! It is important to get the calories and fat grams in order to lose the most weight. Can you set a timer to eat a snack in between meals? Eating small amounts every few hours will keep your metabolism working more effectively and the small snacks can be anything like turkey pepperoni, nuts, some fresh fruit...whatever works for you. There are some threads on the website that discuss the importance of getting those calories and fat grams that you should review

Another good idea I've found is to put the lettuce in a container with a lid add a small amount of salad dressing then seal the container and shake it until all the lettuce has a small coating of salad dressing. Then I add other veggies, cheese, and trail mix. Sometimes I even use mandarin oranges. Marcia

I like this new thread! This is Marcia from Alaska...I also did very well last year, then had several good excuses for slipping and gained back some of the weight. Wendybethea; Congrats on your progress so far and welcome! You will definitely want to start adding real food to replace the slimfast shakes. There are lots of ways to follow the new lifestyle you have chosen. Some of us use weight watchers or nutrisystem and modify the meals to meet the fat gram requirements for alli to be the most effective. There is a great book alli has out with menus and recipes, there are some links with info from other alli members about recipes they have found to make this
50 pounds and holding was a good week, no loss and no no gain. I know things are moving around though. I am in 7 notches on my belt and the 38's are fitting looser too. It is not always about the weight loss. I am very happy with my progress since new years day. I am still motivated and ready to shed the rest. WHen it happens it happens. Hope everyone else is still hanging in there and seeing positive results.
So true! We want the weight to fall off

One of the things that has helped me is to keep track of the inches as well as the pounds. Your body needs to adjust to the new "set point" while you continue this new lifestyle. Keep up the good work and happy losing! Marcia

Nita; Good to see you are back on this lifestyle! I've had family issues, health issues, and other life events that have affected me following my plan. I've gone back to eating 1800 cals and have lost 3 pounds this week. Good to hear from you and happy losing! Marcia
