Thanks for sharing! It's great to hear how much people have overcome. It's so much easier to look to the next box of whatever for comfort than take control but it's awesome to hear people are able to do it. I have been so much better with adding exercise but not consistently changing my food habits. Keep the motivating stories coming :o) (FYI--I'm a huge Suze Orman fan too!!)

Andrea-- I've noticed an increase in gas as well and it sucks!! It seems to be activated by exercise which can be really embarrassing. Definitely try to find some more recipes you like to keep from feeling restricted. Sites such as weightwatchers, slimfast, allrecipes.com all have great ones. This site has some suggestions as well, especially for snacks. (Such as the skinny cow ice cream sandwhiches mentioned earlier--i love them!) Good luck :o)

I've just started as well but I got a lot of encouragement just by browsing all the posts and seeing the dramatic weight loss results. I've only had a slight increase in frequency of bathroom trips but that's it. Plus, I have a very sensitive digestive tract, so I was extra worried. I think if you can pretty much stick to a healthy meal plan, you won't have many problems. The effects if you do have too much fat in a meal seems to vary by person. I've seen some posts who say they

Hey Karen, II'm finally up for the challenge! It took me almost 2 weeks of only doing the program half way before I finally committed to it a couple of days ago. I bought the alli pills on a whim so I came around a little slower than most. I am going to start taking the pills regularly tomorrow. My goal is to lose about 45-50 pounds. What are your goals? What changes have you started making? maria

This isn't quite as great as your traditional cookout hamburger but if you have as many to go to as I do this time of the year, you can use a healthy substitute for at least some of them! From You On a Diet : Take a whole wheat english muffin and smear with olive oil based marinara sauce, top with a veggie burger, tomato, onion, lettuce or spinach, and sauteed mushrooms (sauteed in PAM of course). There are many flavors of veggie burgers to choose from and I think the less they look like meat

My sister and her husband tried for awhile to have a baby and within a month of reaching the weight her doctor suggested she get down to, she got pregnant. Now she has a healthy 10 month old son and not only has she lost her "baby" weight, her healthier lifestyle has allowed her to lose more weight than she ever imagined she could. You've got a great goal and your healthy lifestyle change is good practice for the 9 months required for a healthy baby! Keep us updated on your progress

Yay! Today was my first check in and I had lost weight. . . . however, I've been cheating by weighing myself daily and today was the first day I was down, so it may just be water fluctuation still. Anyway, it was motivating!! My favorite snacks: Cliff Mojo power bars (esp the mountain mix), 100 calories chocolate covered pretzels pack, caramel rice cakes, and pickles (which of course prompted my husband to ask if I was prego b/c in 8 yrs he's never seen me eat them!!) Yesterday was really

Last tme I had a big weightloss I was motivated because I went to the doctor and the nurse pre-set the scale for 50 pounds MORE than what I actually weighed. I was so upset that I immediately dove head first in the diet and exercise and lost a quick 10 pounds. Now a year later and I weigh close to what the nurse had put on the scale and I'm not terribly motivated. Even though I have fewer clothes that fit well, I mainly alternate between workout clothes and scrubs, so it's easy to be in denial

Look for gyms that have water aerobic classes. Most of these classes are geared toward people just getting started, the elderly, and people rehabing from injuries. It's a great place to meet other people with similar fitness goals and give you the encouragement and environment to get started. This is how I began working out a few months ago, now I have moved on to mainly walking on the treadmill, it still helped me get comfortable with going to the gym. Without a doubt I was the youngest person
