I have found that it isn't hard to simply write down the ingredients as I add them, the calories and fat grams for the quantities I use, total them up, and divide to get cals and fat grams per serving. I had to measure at first to know how many servings were in my pot I use for making soup, but now I can estimate pretty well. I've been doing this for quite a while, and if I use low fat ingredients and mininal meat, I have consistently found that a large (2 1/2 cup) serving of vegetable, bean

I think the answer to your all questions is portion control. If you prepare one meal, but limit how much you eat, you should do alright. And if you eat less of a (somewhat) fatty main dish and more of a low fat side dish like plain veggies, that would also help a lot. I think a lot of people find when they start the diet that it isn't nearly as low fat as they expected. Newbies often have to work at meeting their fat goal. I would call it a low-cal balanced diet, not a low fat diet. You just

Personally, I skipped the pill unless I ate at least 10 grams of fat, just because they don't cut that many calories when you are talking about so little fat and the pills do cost money. But ... I didn't eat many meals that were that low in fat because that isn't a balanced diet. If you are having more than a meal or two a week that is that low in fat and that high in calories, then you most likely eating too many carbs. Eat fewer carbs and you will be able to eat more fat grams before

One thing this process has taught me is patience. It's taken me over a year to lose 42 pounds, but I have just 5 more to go and I can tell you that I am never, ever, ever going to regain it. Good luck and hang in there. It'll be worth it in the end. Caroline

Just keep being conscious of everything you put in your mouth. I have taken hundreds of the pills and never once had TEs, but I paid a lot of attention to what I ate. Keeping a log of calories and fat grams is really essential. Good luck!

What has been really important to me is to: 1. Write down everything I eat and calories and fat grams. 2. Calculate my weekly averages for calories and fat grams (my daily totals always fluctuated, so the weekly averages help keep them from drifting upwards too much). I wasn’t really that successful with alli until I started doing this. 3. Exercise. Everyday. No excuses. Mostly I have walked. 4. Keep coming back here, even if you are not making progress. That's really why you need friends

I love Laughing Cow light cheese. I put it on whole wheat toast for breakfast or Akmak crackers for a snack or in a low fat ham sandwich. I love the little packages and the way they zip open. I stock up when it's on sale for $2 a 'wheel'.

Hmmm, well you have me stumped. You have to be registered to get to the red stripe myalliplan forums that have the various age groups. You are registered, right? I think you can post without being registered, but you can't check in. Maybe it's time to ask the technical moderators what's going on. I like the people on this site, but really, they could hardly make it more difficult to navigate. Good luck and hope to see you over their with the 50-somethings! Caroline

Hmmm. It works for me. Make sure that you are signed in and then look for the red one, called something like myalliplan forums. It won't be there unless you are signed in.
